First time camping since I was 5 or 6 years old… Needless to say, it’s been awhile. Finding a open camp site on Memorial Day Weekend was a tough task, but this site had plenty to offer. When I think of camping, I think of being deep in the woods, far from civilization. Ross Prairie was not what I was expecting. First off, it’s right next to a busy highway, so don’t expect to hear nature in all of its glory. The camp sites themselves reminded me of a RV park, not an actual camp site. I think we were the only group there solely with tents. The sites themselves are in a wide open field… Lots of room and separation from the other camp sites which was nice, but you’re definitely not in the woods. The maximum tents per site was 2, but it seemed pretty easy to get away with more. On the plus side, the shower/bathroom facilities were clean… Huge for anyone who isn’t quite ready to getting the real«Camping Experience.». If I were to camp again, however, I would definitely look for a site with a more stereotypical camping feeling to it.
