The Amtrak station in Durand is one of the better locations to ride the Blue Water to Chicago from. You can avoid many of the parking issues and crowds that can be found at the East Lansing station as a result of the MSU students there. Parking is not an issue at this station as it is free without any time limits and completely safe in this rural town.
The waiting room is only open 30 minutes prior to the trains scheduled arrival and only very briefly in the evening. It is also a good place for your kids because they can watch any other trains coming past the depot to help pass the time.
