Was very happy with this place. The menu was a little small, but has a lot of house special items. Had the brisket BBQ burger and really enjoyed it. Had the sampler of all 9 craft beers currently on tap. Very good selection and great beer. The service put it over the top for us. Aubrey was fantastic.

Animas has a friendly staff and an interesting menu. The atmosphere is comfortable and not as hectic as Ska or Steamworks. The food is good and there are regular specials, but usually those specials are just variations on the regular menu items. The beer is good and the regular brews are consistent. They make special brews that change up every few weeks for something new. They have some big community tables where you can meet new people and the outdoor patio is very pleasant in the spring and summer. It doesn’t get as packed as the places up on Main Street, making it a good spot for an impromptu dinner or beer.

I ordered the Gold King sour beer and IPA and both were very good. The pretzel with mustard and cheese sauce was also tasty. It has doors that roll up to let fresh air in which is nice. The only downside is that the Raiders lost on the game they were showing. I’m pretty sure they won. Will be back soon.

Meh, the beer was decent enough but the pasties were a huge disappointment. They are underseasoned and dry as a bone. I got charged an extra .75 cents for a tiny 1oz ramekin of gravy. The fish and chips looked great though. Our server was super nice at first but then got stranger and stranger the longer we had him. Maybe he left to smoke weed and he was getting paranoid or something? No idea… just odd.

I was disappointed with the food. We ordered the cheese dip, two pasties and the apple pie pastie dessert. Everything was bland overall. The pasties could have used a gravy instead of ranch and BBQ sauce. The cheese dip was too watery which made it hard to get to stick to the chips or pita for dipping. Beer was okay but didn’t knock my socks off.

Won’t fill growlers without some certification sticker. This includes the ultra high end DrinkTanks and any glass growlers. Unacceptable.

This is the new brewery in Durango you should try, we were glad we did. It has an extensive list of own brews and an interest food menu. We tried a flight and everything was delicious. Although we didn’t have dinner here, we ordered the banger and mash tacos, and they were really good. Our server did not show up after bringing our food and beer for like 25 minutes, so I went to the counter and paid our bill. Another server took care of my bill promptly and he also was very enthusiastic when explaining the history of the brewery and their philosophy, he’s such a sweet guy. We’d like to visit this place again soon!

Stopped in for beers and dinner after a 28 mile mountain bike ride. Needless to say, we were hungry and thirsty. We were not sure what to expect, and we were all very impressed with the food, beer and service. We liked it so much, we bought four hats and a shirt on our way out. The train chugging out of the station next door was an added bonus! Parking was an issue, but not much you can do about that.

This is our kind of brewery. Small microbrewery, nice location(right next to the animas river) and super nice server. He took the time to talk to us, get to know us and he truly was interested in the type of beers we liked and based on that made recommendations. One of the best servers we have ever spoken in 121 breweries in CO we’ve been to. I will go back and I hope they have any wheats and saisons.

Animas may win the title of best craft brewery in Durango. The Class VIIPA was excellent, the pale ale was also quite good. I also had the JW «craft burger», which is a hamburger with beef brisket and homemade BBQ sauce. I added a slice of their home-cured bacon on the recommendation of the waiter-good call. The patio was a great spot on a lovely summer evening. The fish and chips was a bit of a miss for my wife forever. We have enjoyed Ska and Carver Brewing in Durango, but Animas may be the top of the heap.

Really solid flight of beer. The lighter ends weren’t great but the reds and the IPAs were amazing. Had some starters and the pretzel was hands down the beat. Cool little venue off the main drag in Durango but definitely worth visiting.

Okay okay quick edit to the original! The waitress was not very helpful but we did get a growler of top notch ipa from the bartender(thanks for the samples terry!) and we have since learned that dogs tied to the outside is a standard Colorado law. I guess I still feel like this should be represented on places like Unilocal that«outsiders» use or at least have the staff better explain. Anyway… thanks for the beer! The growler is pretty sweet too. Oroginal: By ‘dogs allowed’ they mean you can tie them up outside the fence around the patio… not quite the same thing. Bummer!

Visiting friends in Durango and stopped here after a stroll along the river trail. Great beer and food. Staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. They have a unique meat pie here called a pastie that was awesome. Jerk wings and the chicken keg rolls are the was to go for apps. Came back for seconds!

A portion of my large family(15+) decided to eat lunch here after a rafting trip down the Animas. The building is pretty small and was already packed but they were able to accommodate our large group pretty quickly. I had the kolsch and the wit, both were astonishingly refreshing after being in the hot Durango sun. The food was also really good as well, particularly the wings. If you are in the area, this is a great place to take in some Colorado.

Our visit to ABC was a mixed bag. The place has a lot of potential, but there are a few things we observed they could work on. First of all, the food is above average. I was very happy with the pretzel and cheese appetizer, even though it could have used an extra pretzel in the mix. I was happy with with burger I had which was a mix of a brat and beef, rather tasty like a reuben. My better half had the caesar salad and thought it was good, but the parmesan cheese crisp was too much for her. The choice of either a salad or house-made potato chips is really boring. I hate potato chips and these were no exception: dry, greasy, no flavor but what it is cooked in. The beer was spot on. I had an IPA while my company had a porter(i think, I know it was something dark). Both were very good. Beer alone I think this place has the process down. The service was spotty. Within 5-minutes of us getting our entrees our waitress wanted to close out because she had somewhere to be(and probably wanted the tip if there was one to be had). Poor form. Another waitress that was working the table behind us and then took over our section had that rockabilly look, which I so adore, but her perfume was obnoxiously LOUD! I have chemical sensitivities and every time she was within 5 feet it smelled like a baby-diaper with a hefty dose of napalm. My face felt like it was melting and we quickly finished up and left. The headache lingered for hours. My bad for being born this way, but holy crow, TONEDOWNTHESTINK! We will come here again this summer and enjoy their beers and food. While a limited menu it appears they are doing a good job of making it a good burger joint. I would recommend people trying this place out for lunch.

I just moved here from Denver and I have tried all the breweries in Durango and this one is my favorite. It was very busy the first time I went and I had to wait for a table but the beer was great and the service was great so I went back today after a hike. Hands down the most pleasant brewery in Durango. I tried a flight of the 7 beers on tap and loved them all. That never happens with me. It’s tucked away down a side street and has amazing character and a very personable staff. If you only have time for one brewery, this is it, just know that you might have to wait just a little while but good things come to those who wait.

We were just visiting family in Durango and stopped by after a hike on what happened to be superbowl Sunday. The place was busy — but not packed. The staff was super attentive and most importantly the food and beer was really good. The Hummus plate was REALLY good and their home made chips were delicious. The beer was really good as well. I was a bit bummed they were out of IPA — but the place is so new that that’s understandable. Will likely be back next time we visit!

Friday night I went to ABC for the first time to meet friends for a meeting. The place was packed when I arrived at 5:30p with lots a folks standing outside on the patio in early February. I had a black beer and it was fine. So, the next night I decide to eat dinner – it’s a new place close to my house, and the menu looked good. But, yikes! What a terrible dining experience! Generally, I love Durango restaurants, but this place was impossible to enjoy. The interior layout does not maximize seating. This place feels small. Their big, long bench style seating, while goes with the theme of the place and are well made, does not make adequate use of the already small space. The table I was at could have accommodated another party of four, but because of the bench style, large amounts of space went unused, while many parties crowded awkwardly by the bar. They need a place for people to wait. When we arrived, the hostess could not clearly gauge the wait – maybe 10 turned into 30. While it seemed that the staffs’ hearts maybe in the right place, the service was just god-awful. Our waitress had no idea what she was doing. I get this feeling sometimes, in a few of Durango’s food establishments, that the staff is high. They don’t look you in the eye, they’re always busy doing something but generally distracted and slow, a little anxious, avoiding the customers…(I’m mostly certain I saw a staff member smoking pot on the patio as we were leaving.) One person I was with, wanted the No Meater Pasty, and so when he requested this dish the waitress decided to sit and join our table to apologize and talk about it. She explained that they had run out of a few of their pasties and that they could not make any pasty without meat because that’s how they are prepped in the kitchen. It was weird and disappointing. The kids meal I ordered for my daughter, should have come with a choice of sides, the option was never offered, someone decided for her. Perhaps the waitress thought veggies sticks were a healthier choice, or they were running low on chips, or she forgot to ask and didn’t feel comfortable coming back to the table. Not one of our main dishes was served at the same time. I was in a party of three, and my food was served a good 5-min before another main dish arrived. This was simply impolite as well as amateurish. The food – now this is may be the most important – I ordered the ABC Nachos and the Traditional Pasty. The nachos were okay – definitely unique and salty. But for the dish that they are identifying themselves by, their Traditional Pasty, it was just awful. It was filled with severely undercooked, thinly sliced root vegetables. It was crunchy inside. The first ingredient listed is shaved sirloin, but it had very little meat, maybe 5 bite-sized chunks. The kids meal said it came with a dessert called Bucket of Worms. It was never offered, I had to asked someone about it, and a guy proudly(I felt like he want to be congratulated on his major accomplishment.) brought out a kids dessert, sans spoon. We had to get up to get our credit card run. The music was like 1990’s pop. I really, really wanted to like this place. I love the location and the branding, but the service, interior space, and food are total deal breakers. I might try again in the summer, after they get their game figured out.
