The meat was franchise BBQ quality, but that shouldn’t be a surprise since that’s what this place is. It’s dry and lacking flavor compared the the good BBQ pits of Texas. And lacking the tasty rub that is commonly seen on pork BBQ elsewhere. Whatever you do stay away from the BBQ beans. Unless you like the consistency of snot. If you like eating cold sticks of butter try the baked potato salad.

I am from Texas and have a life time love with BBQ. But I was not impressed with this place. Chopped beef looks like it was ran through a meat grinder. Don’t get me wrong the beef was good but why can’t you chop it to order instead of grinding it then packaging it. The baked potato salad has way to much mayo for my liking and was not good. BBQ sauce was good. Overall small portion for the price.

Great food! Great service for a place where you stand to order and have a seat with your meal — sauce is sooooo good also!

I’ve always seen Billy Sims BBQ up in Oklahoma and said to give it a try today. the food was good the corn was excellent the potato salad was excellent. The ribs tasted great they were just a little too dry. A little pricey but plenty of food for what you pay for. If they can get the ribs not so dry I will definitely come back in and try this again.

Third try here over the past couple years. Lunch was $ 26 for two people… sandwich plate, dinner plate, and one small drink. Pricey!!! The place was near empty at 12pm and I didn’t see any lunch special. Dry and flavorless brisket. BBQ sauce was good, unfortunately shouldn’t be needed with well flavored and moist meat. I just can’t recommend this place and I will not return. Nothing personal.

First time here. Not too bad for a quick in and out bbq joint. They do have specials and all you can eat ribs on Tuesday nights. I had the turkey and hot link. The turkey was hard but the hot link was really good. The sides are in little cups not self serve like some places. If by here and in a hurry I would come here again. A little high for the amount of meat they give but it seems like everything is going up. The bathroom was not to clean.

I visited the Billy Sims in Tulsa and it was pretty good… Went here for lunch in Durant today and it was the worse BBQ I every had. Two Thumbs Down on this place

Really good barbecue, love their sandwiches. I eat here for lunch and get catering for work. I give the food five stars but the prices are four stars.

Barbecue(and its spelling) is many different things depending on the part of the country. Nevertheless, it rarely disappoints when you find the right place. While on a business trip and driving though Oklahoma, we came across Billy Sims. Although I recognized the name on a general basis, my traveling companions were citing stats, both college and pro, as we drove into the lot. I pretty much figured out this would be a perfect time to go with the flow and see if the food lived up to the reputation. Although Sims’ had just opened for the day, there were already about three or four people walking out with to-go bags. That was a good omen. We walked in, immediately facing the menu board with every imaginable option: brisket, chopped pork, smoked turkey, etc. And the aroma — the smell of barbecue, and the steam rising from the meat, all but had us drooling in line. Everything was available as a sandwich or as a plate in various combinations. The platters mostly have names keeping with the theme: running back, full back, half back, turnover turkey, the Heisman. It was clever. We had a choice of adding peppers, onions, or a pickle spear. The standard sides also were good, but not so much as to detract from the main entrée. I keep brisket in a special place in the bbq hall of fame. I went with that option. I was not disappointed. The brisket was tender with a light smoky flavor. The other people in my group had the sliced pork, the chopped beef, turkey, and sausage, respectively, mostly in a platter. None of them was disappointed, although all spent the entire time eating and talking more sport stats, egged on by the posters covering the walls of Billy Sims at various stages of his career.(I couldn’t tell you which each person enjoyed more.) In fact, the décor is exactly as you would expect for a restaurant named after an all-american college player of the year and NFL rookie of the year. Moreover, for a chain restaurant, you can’t go wrong with the food, the family-atmosphere and the ready-made tailgate party.
