We stopped by on a Sunday around 7:30AM(yes, we get up early because we have a puppy that wants to enjoy the full day with us). The place had only a couple of people sitting there, which was great for us because it allowed us to sit and enjoy a slow and quiet breakfast. Good thing is — you will get a pot of coffee for your table, so you can really sit and enjoy your breakfast and talk. I hate to have constantly people come up to you and ask whether you need more coffee and really like it when you just get a pot of coffee placed in front of you. We are adults and can pour our own coffee. Breakfast arrived fast and was prepared just right. We ordered the pancakes with eggs and bacon as well as the French toast with eggs and sausage. Huge portion for both of them. Pancakes barely fit on the place, the French toast is three good size slices — both served with plenty of butter and you also get a full bottle of syrup. Again, getting plenty of syrup allows you to enjoy your breakfast in peace and at your own pace. For us, Sunday breakfast is a really slow process since we both work and like to sit and talk in the morning on the rare occasion that we can and do not have to rush to work. The eggs, we both ordered over easy, were good size and prepared with a nice runny yolk. The bacon and the sausage were standard, with a nice crisp on the bacon and the sausage fried just right. We sat for two hours and still had coffee in our pots(we got two at the table since one like decaf and the other prefer regular). There was also plenty of cream and sugar available and the business was still slow, although clearly picking up, by the time we left around 9:30AM. We took the remaining pancakes and French Toast home; it was simply too much to finish. Overall, very good value for the money and a great place to enjoy a leisurely breakfast. The service is great, you will get your food fast enough so that you can visit the place during the week and still make it to work on time. But I will definitely keep this place in mind for weekends, when you want to have a slow breakfast, sit down and talk. Big plus on the service just right for a relaxed Sunday breakfast and the value and quality of the food served.

Great food and service. The place is nothing fancy but if you are going there for other than food then you need to check your priorities… the skillets are really good. sorry I didn’t take any pics… too busy eating. good food not expensive at all and everyone working there was extremely friendly.. definitely a place worth checking out.

We went to Benetis for brunch on a recent trip to Durham. We ere looking for something different than your run of the mill chain restaurants and stumbled upon this gem. It was fairly crowded as brunch was in full swing. Even though they were hopping it didn’t take too long to be seated. The menu was fairly large so it took a few minutes to decide what we wanted but I ended up getting a veggie frittata with an English muffin and fruit cup and my husband got a veggie omelet. The service was great the food was served in a timely manner and the portions were good sized. The food was good and the tab was reasonable. I would definitely recommend Benetis and if we are ever back in the area we plan to return.

Location: Benetis has been in Durham for a while. I first discovered this place due to the Unilocal offer. 5DOLLARSFOR10 dollars. WORTHIT! This place is close to true dining. You can enjoy both and compared with each other. Food: I always was longing for a great brunch or breakfast here but life never goes what you would project. I left here and now I ate lunch here. Had gyro, platter. GREAT is the only word I would like to say. It is tendered and the pita is roasted well. The only complain I would have is the portion of salad is small. It was all about fat and protein in that dish. So, do not think about being on diet while eating the gyro platter. Service: the lady is welcoming and gives me time to think about what I ‘d like to order. Overall: I would say it is 3.5 for food but +0.5 due to the welcoming service.

This is my neighborhood spot for breakfast. It’s a family friendly mom and pop kind of place. The food here is great! The prices and service are also great.

This is the only place between me and my friend’s place and that keeps me going back here. And Home Fries. Yes! Home fries. Thats my indulgence once in a while. Best Home fries in the area.(Enough Already) I always get my usual breakfast scrambled eggs and rye toast with coffee. Which is nothing to write home about. Although the service is attentive and friendly. The owner always comes and check on us and I feel its a nice touch. Don’t forget to buy and use their groupon deal if you are visiting.

This place is great! It’s family owned and everyone is friendly. It’s a little small but it’s in a strip mall so it is what it is. The food is delicious and the wait staff is very attentive. My girlfriend got eggs Benedict with has Browns and pancakes. I got pancakes, eggs and sausage. We both cleaned our plates! I would highly recommend this place for breakfast and lunch. We will definitely be back.

Visited here one time and was very impressed. It doesn’t seem like much from the outside or even when you sit down but their Sunday breakfast was fantastic. The coffee tasted great and fresh, I am usually skeptical about restaurant coffee. I had the sausage and gravy biscuits with eggs and home fries and everything was delicious. I would definitely recommend for a hearty and reasonably priced breakfast in Durham. I’ll have to come back and try lunch.

It’s a great basic breakfast place. We were able to get in and seated relatively quick. The food was good. My daughters enjoyed it. And there is a Steelers marker so we know it’s great Iron City folks friendly.

Simply good food. We ate here for breakfast this morning and have to say, while we ordered the basics, eggs, bacon, sausage and toast with potatoes, we were pleasantly surprised how yummy it was. They have fancy and plane omelets and other breakfast items, which we look forward to trying on a future visit, but they have the basics down and that means a lot. Lots of local places swim the potatoes in butter or, heavens, toss frozen hasbrowns in fryer, but theirs were recognizable as potatoes and they and the eggs were seasoned nicely. Sorry to say, I can miss season eggs at home on the cheep, so finding someplace with a good scrambled egg is a real treat I’m happy to pay for. Anyone can smother breakfast in cheese, but good basics are hard to come by. Older building and all the things that come with it, but very friendly staff and yummy food so we will be back for more.

Delicious. The skillets were perfectly seasoned and we’ll cooked. The John Wayne was chock full of veggies and potatoes with melty cheese. The greek omelet had a good amount of spinach and fête, the California omelet had fresh mushrooms and avocado. Eggs fluffy on both! The gyro was huge and the meat delicious. I’ve never seen my partner stop before he finished, but it was just that big. Everything here is fresh. Totally worth the drive for us!

I finally made it back to try Benetis again and am pleased that I did. This time I arrived around 10:30 or so for breakfast and had a fantastic experience. Service was excellent. The waitress was friendly and cheerfully greeted me. My drink order was filled quickly and she kindly brought re-fills before my glass was empty. I always notice and very much appreciate not having to ask for re-fills. I ordered a bacon and cheese omelette with home fries and an English muffin. The eggs were moist and fluffy — not overdone, the bacon was crisp, and the cheese flavorful. The home fries were well-done, which is just how I like them, and the muffin was nicely toasted without being burned. Portions were generous and I found it to be an excellent meal for a very reasonable $ 8.50. The Bottom Line I’m sorry that it took me so long to make it back to Benetis, but I’m glad I did. Service was great, the food was excellent, the restaurant was very neat and clean, and the atmosphere was relaxing and pleasant. I’ll definitely be back!

We came here because we used their Unilocal deal. We got their omelet and huevos rancheros skillet. They were both good and the portions were huge. Good place to go for breakfast on a Sunday morning before church. I’m definitely going back to try some other things on their menu.

I can’t say that anything drastically changed from my prior experience to Benetis(over a year ago) and my visit this past weekend. Both experiences have taken place over brunch on a weekend and I’ve been satisfied after each meal. I think the only thing that’s changed is me; my perspective on food and quality. Benetis is doing a lot of things right: first, they have capitalized on the brunch market in their area. There’s nothing that competes directly(William’s Gourmet Kitchen might be the closet thing, but Benetis’ hours are stellar). Because they’ve capitalized on the market, they are BUSY! I’d say expect to wait unless you’re arriving before 8:30am(they open at 7am!) I love that they seat large groups and honestly, if I had family in town visiting, this is the place I’d take them. It’s about a $ 1-$ 2 over your«typical» diner prices, most of the entrees range from $ 7-$ 9, but they’ve got great flavor and it’s great for everyone because they have such a diverse menu: omelets, waffles, pancakes, eggs benedict, frittatas, etc. The portion sizes are also HUGE, it’s definitely a two meal plate! They’ve got above average diner coffee(although it’s no Counter Culture) and they leave a whole ‘pot’ on the table which is a nice touch. They service is what you’d expect from a diner. You’re not going to have 24⁄7 attention and you’ll probably have a wait time; that’s to be expected with such a popular place. They also have a couple Unilocal check-in offers, currently 50% off a second entrée and there’s a $ 10 for $ 5 deal(you cannot overlap savings!). I will still argue that they have THEBEST home fries in Durham, they are so full of flavor, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The reason that I’m knocking them a star is the quality of food with the price. I am only basing this on my tastebuds, but I’d be shocked if everything here is made in house. From the hollandaise sauce to the corned beef and English muffins and even canned jalapeños and salsa. It just tastes like a lot of the ingredients are served from a can and not fresh. If you don’t mind this, then honestly, Benetis is going to make you really happy. And I will still argue that it’s a great place for groups(as long as they’re not food critics). However, it’s very 3 star food, A-OK!

What a cozy place this is! Benetis is a small business in its brightest light, with a friendly staff and great food. This spot serves up an interesting fusion of breakfast/brunch/lunch with typical American diner staples and Greek/Mediterranean favorites. As offbeat as that sounds, Benetis makes it work. I’ve ordered the Gyro Platter which had an awesome serving size. Also, the Great Greek Gyro was very good, and had super tender meat. I also heard they have a great value for lunch buffet during the weekdays. The owner is very kind and helpful, and the service wasn’t bad either. I’d give this place 3.5 stars because I wasn’t blown away, but they serve above average food with a cozy kick. Come through for a warm lunch in a low-key environment.

I’m fairly certain that this is the most underrated place in Durham. Perhaps it’s a location issue? Yeah not too glamorous but really, this place is awesome. Why? 1) Prices — super low. Plus you can find all sorts of deals online usually(check-in deals on Unilocal,Groupons etc) 2) Food — so many options and all of them are so good. I usually pig out with some special omelette(plus home fries), a single pancake(just enough to satisfy the urge) and a side of toast just for kicks. Perfect Sunday morning brunch. 3) Staff — super nice and friendly. It seems like their most frequent patrons are on the elderly side but everyone is really cool and the waiters/waitresses are great. 4) Chill — you know what, maybe it’s better this place remains underrated because there’s never any line, never a wait to sit down, it’s fairly quiet(good for hangovers), and you never wait too long to order or for your food to come. If everyone knew how delicious and cheap it was that all might change so I’ll end the review here. Only con — no cocktails. Life isn’t perfect after all.

I had wanted to try out their brunch for sometime now. The food in my opinion is not extraordinary. It would exceed your expectations if the bar you set were to be IHOP. The service was bad. The owner had to step in to cover up for the waitress who was busy fiddling with her smart device. I made mistake while ordering my omelette. The owner was kind enough to not charge me for my dish. However, she was smart in not accepting my Unilocal deal stating that I could use it the next time I come. A smart business move indeed to keep the customer happy and also get him to come back again. I haven’t tried their desserts yet. I will swing by next time for that. Bottom line: Average food and Medium to poor service
