Was once my favorite restaurant in Durham. Last night kitchen got food all messed up. Missed one of our entire orders and left walnuts off the salad. This has happened the last four visits. I hesitate to take new friends there since their food was also wrong. Wish I knew what has happened to my favorite place. Got to find new favorite place.

I’ve been here 2 times and I’m pleased to say that the food and service have been good and consistent. We’ve eaten late lunch both times and although near their afternoon closing time we’ve never been rushed. The Dixie Chicken and Grits is eye-rollingly good. The real star of the show at this restaurant is the desserts. All are homemade and definitely worth the calorie hit so save room!

We came here to eat on Father’s Day. There were 8 of us in our party. I was pretty hopeful because of the reviews. Service was super slooooooowwwww! I know the place was busy because of the holiday, but this was ridiculous. It took forever to even get our order taken, it took forever to get our drinks, our app came right before our meal and when it did the fried mushrooms were soggy. We both ordered burgers which were pricy Imo. The burgers were obviously frozen, tasteless and over cooked. They also didn’t have any mayo or condiments on the buns(which were flat) and by the time we got it the burger was cold. My husband also said that his beer wasn’t cold. My parents even commented that their food wasn’t that great.

I recently co-hosted a baby shower at Bennett Pointe Grill, and I have to say that the service was exceptional. We were able to book well in advance to reserve a private dining room, and when we needed to change the date of the shower, they were very kind in accommodating us, and had no problem moving the date since we gave plenty of notice. They were prompt in their reminder calls, to confirm that we would be using the room on that date and time, and reserving the room did not incur an extra cost, we were only required to pay for the cost of our food/drink and tip– a rare find these days, when you can charge for just about anything! The staff also kindly printed out customized menus for us so that we could control what items our guests could choose from, and our waitress Rosalyn(sp?) was on point with keeping our drinks filled throughout the whole shower, which lasted about three hours– I am sure she had other tables to worry about but she made sure we were taken care of. Another huge plus was the time frame– we had reserved the room from 2pm-4pm, but by 3:30 we could tell we were nowhere near done, and when I asked if they had anyone coming to use the room after us they told us not to worry about it at all, we were the only people using the room that day and we were welcome to take the time we needed to wrap up the party. Best of all, after a super long day decorating and weeks of planning, of course the last thing you want to do is tear down the shower and clean up– but again, the staff rose above and beyond. As we started to take down decorations, they stopped us and told us they’d take care of it, and they cleared up all our streamers and trash and party crap for us! I can’t sing the praises of the staff at BPG enough. Thank you guys so much for making a very stressful day smooth and helping us pull off the shower!

Pasta Carbonara — Penne pasta tossed in a cream sauce flavored with smoked bacon, green onions and garlic for $ 6.95. Creamy yet light, and not too cheesy. It’s not the best Pasta Carbonara I’ve had(it could use more flavor) but it’s decent. Would be great if it included a little more pasta, but for the price, it’s good. Meals include complimentary sourdough bread and butter. This place is located in an area that seems quiet and empty. There are helpful signs along the road to point you in the right direction though. Large parking lot. Right next to a Food Lion supermarket. They have wooded booth seating and friendly staff. Menu is in the form of a newspaper. The place and their food aren’t fancy, but they’re alright.

Very good service. The place has an older feel to it, but the food is better than the décor. I had the Dixie chicken. It’s basically chicken, smoked sausage, roasted red peppers, corn all over a bed of cheesy grits. It was very good! I would come back again and I might order the same thing. Both of my parents enjoyed their food too!

The shrimp & grits were excellent, as was the service. Definitely a local’s favorite. A great find!

A pleasant gem, tucked away on Hillsborough road in Durham. The food was delicious, plenty of options. I met a potential client here for dinner, it was the first time for both of us. The food and service was so good, not only did I get a new client we agree to host all our meeting here. Keep up the good work

Great atmosphere, delicious food, excellent service, & reasonable prices. We are a family of 5 with 2 of our kids under 4& they were very accommodating for the little ones, providing them with crayons & paper. We had bacon wrapped scallops, crab cakes, oysters & a shrimp poboy. Everything was served in a timely manner, portions were more than generous & more importantly, delicious. First time customers but will definitely be returning. Great place.

I was recommended here by a friend because apparently their wings were delicious and well it was okay. I wish it was bigger and tastier! The place had an easy parking spot. It’s close to krogers. They have a bar as well and I believe they show some games.

Tried this once and had the pasta carbonara. It had a very good flavor and has potential, but because the bacon was hard to be found and too heavy on the green onions, I gave this a 3 instead of 4 stars. Staff is very friendly and environment was on the relaxed/laid back side. I would definitely try it again.

The lunch menu is pretty diverse. From seafood, to burgers, to various entrees and not your typical appetizers. I had a hard time deciding what to eat. I decided on the shrimp and grits. It was GREAT!!! I can’t wait to visit again to try the meatloaf meal.

We hadn’t been out to BPG for years until just recently, when a couple of friends invited us to join them for dinner there. What a treat! We got there at about 8pm on a Friday and were seated immediately in the main dining room. It was recently renovated. They’ve added booths along the walls, a stone wall to separate the dining area from the entry, and hung a couple of flat screen TVs in the corners(with the sound turned off). It’s all very casual and comfortable. The four of us took a table. I ordered the crab cakes. My friends had fried oysters, and the steak special. My crab cakes were delicious. They were light and fluffy and seasoned perfectly. They were just about as good as the ones I had in New Orleans a week earlier. They didn’t need either of the dipping sauces … just a spritz of lemon was fine. The crab also came with bacon cheddar mashed potatoes and sauteed vegetables. Everything was delicious. We all cleaned our plates. Literally. There was nothing left. Our waitress was friendly and thorough, and the prices were reasonable. I’m happy to have rediscovered BPG. Next time I won’t wait so long to get back out there!

Good service, but the food was just not great tonight. The fettuccine alfredo was covered in green onions(I thought that was for other pasta dish…) and tasted really off tonight. The bread they gave us was dry and almost toast like… Generally a good place to go in Durham but needs to be more consistent…

Given my limited time in the Durham area, I wanted to find some authentic Southern comfort food. My friend suggested Bennett Pointe Grill, so we ended up going for dinner. Upon entering, we found ourselves in a darkly lit diner with packed tables everywhere. It has a very casual atmosphere, with people talking and joking all around you. They have a fairly large selection of items on their menu, from meats to pastas to salads to sandwiches to seafood. They also start you off on complementary bread and butter, which was nice. We spilt an order of sweet potato fries, which while nothing too special, still did its job as an appetizer. The portion was generous and helped make the wait for our entrees that much less painful. I got their pan-scarred shrimp and scallops as my entrée, with wild rice and vegetables. The shrimp and scallops were delicious, with a sweet, light aftertaste. The wild rice, soaked in the sauce, was consumed by me in seconds. It was that good. The steamed veggies were a bit bland, but very tender. Overall, it was the exact meal I was looking for.

I have eaten at this restaurant a few times now with my husband and his family, who live in the area. This is good, solid food at reasonable prices. We visited on Saturday around 6PM and there were a lot of empty tables. However, by the time we were leaving, the restaurant was a lot more crowded. We had very good and attentive service throughout the meal. Drinks were refilled quickly and the server was friendly and laid-back. For my meal on this visit, I ordered the turkey bleu sub. I thought it was pretty good, but a little lacking in flavor. I didn’t find their«special sauce» to be especially flavorful. I will say that I appreciated the different side choices. I was happy to be able to get a caesar salad as my side instead of the standard fries. On a previous visit, I remember ordering the crab cakes, and these were delicious. My husband got the fried flounder sandwich on this visit and I did try a bite. It was very tasty — the breading was light and the fish fresh. On my next visit, I will try the pan-seared shrimp and scallops — they looked very tasty on the plate of a person in our group who ordered the dish. If you are in this area of Durham, this is definitely a good place to stop for a good and reasonably priced meal!

I came here for a business dinner with coworkers and was had a good time. I always feel bad for waitresses/waiters when I meet up with co workers as I work at the headquarters of my company in San Diego so when I meet up with local field teams, dinners can last for hours. This particular time was no exception and we were there for at least three hours. The waitress did not seem to mind and was very attentive to refilling our drinks(much appreciated) The food was also pretty good, I had the Black Jack BBQ Pork which was very good. The appetizers were nothing special but were good none the less.

Superb! That one word describes the staff, the ambiance, and the bartender’s skill. As for the food: definitely worth a fourth star! We went last night for our 11th anniversary, and enjoyed our favorites. For me it was the pan-seared shrimp and scallops, and for my sweetie the honey-glazed salmon. We topped it off with their key lime pie(also four-star), and a coffee. Well done, Bennett Pointe Grill!
