My boyfriend and I had the beef noodle soup and the Jajangmyeon(don’t know how they spelled it). The food is good and reasonably priced, but the beef noodle soup almost tasted EXACTLYTHESAME as the beef noodle soup at Graces Café(at Duke), which I thought was really weird. The waitress for us was so nice. Overall, a great experience!

Let me begin by saying, I love terrible Chinese take out. This place is the bad kind of terrible, not the good kind of terrible where you eat until you hurt yourself because it’s so good. I usually don’t go out for lunch but had a craving for some terribly good Chinese food. Unfortunately I chose the wrong place. I ordered the Hunan beef with fried rice. Eh. The fried rice is just white rice with some frozen peas. No flavor whatsoever. The Hunan sauce was soooo watered down. I tried to add hot sauce and soy sauce but it didn’t help. I threw it away after a few bites. I hate to waste food but that garbage belonged to the trash can. Do yourself a favor and drive down 54 and go to Hong Kong off of hope valley.

The best Tangsuyuk I have ever had in the USA !!! Very friendly staff !!! We were a little inconvenienced due to their credit card machine not working. Hmmm… I wonder what would they would have done if we did not have cash?

Typical Chinese restaurant I’ve deviated from my usual sweet and sour chicken to expand a little. I have had general tso twice while good not great they are kinda basic adding not so cooked broccoli(2) to a heap of rice and tso chicken. ehhh but my expectations aren’t that high neither should urs… overall somewhat cheap though hella busy during lunch time not a 5 star place but decent

My friend told me about this little spot that serves excellent Noodle soups. I had to come try it myself to see if it actually lived up to its expectation. Lunch prices are usually about $ 9 – 10. I got the Taiwanese beef noodle soup which came out to be very tasty. The broth was rice and spicy, and the noodles were not cheap. My friend got the jam boon, which a korean style spicy soup. Although this is a chinese place, he said that they made this korean dish very authentic as well as rich in flavor and spicyness. I would suggest coming here if you’re wanting a soupy spicy meal. The biggest tip i can give you is, the portion sizes are big enough where you can share your meals. You would be surprise how much you can actually eat and how much they give you.

there was a very small hair in my fried rice, which obviously ruined the experience… the soup was ok and the popcorn shrimp were not too bad. Have only had delivery from here, with the minimum delivery and the delivery charge it was too expensive for generic food. Also delivery was very slow at lunch. I don’t understand some of the good reviews, I must be missing something.

Best jja Jjang Myun I’ve had!!! It’s legit, even compared to what I’ve had in larger cities! We ordered two noodle dishes: Korean style jjam pong and jja Jjang myun! In case you haven’t had those before, jjam pong is a spicy seafood noodle soup, and jja jang myun is noodles in black bean sauce. The portions are huge, and both dishes had a lot of meat/seafood and very fresh veggies. Noodles were also really good and fresh, and they’re apparently handmade in the restaurant, and it shows in their taste! Service is quick. We also got the kimchi, which isn’t really the typical Korean fermented kimchi with Napa cabbage, but more like an unfermented fresh kimchi with American cabbage… Not bad, but just different. Décor isn’t fancy at all but who cares! This will be my go-to spot for jjajangmyun from now on!

Got delivery from here. I think you would really need to go out of your way to make food this bad. I’m praying that I do not get sick as the meats tasted old and gamey. My wife and I ended up throwing everything in the trash after we spit out our food on our plates. Everything smelled like the inside of a roller skate. I would rather do shots of hot dog water than ever eat here again. Poop poop for 2.

The food was good but they don’t have Korean style Jjamppong like the reviews suggested. It’s Chinease style! Jjamppong is supposed to have clams, squid, shrimp, scallop, thin pork slices, yummy noodles with cabbage, bamboo shoots, zucchini in «spicy broth». The ocean in a bowl! Instead it was only a few shrimp, a few scallops, & mostly Chicken, beef, broccoli in a barely spicy but good broth. I asked for med spicy though. The noodles were different too. I’ve had JaJangmyeon & Jjamppong at many Korean restaurants so I was hoping for Korean style like the claims I’ve read about this place. Even though it wasn’t even close I still give 4 stars bc it was good, just different. And Kimchi here is definitely Chinease style too. Korean Kimchi does not taste vinegary it’s spicy. Kimchi was good just again the way Chinease make it bc this is a Chinease restaurant. And thats great when you are in the mood for Chinease!

One of my favorite Chinese places. Consistently good. I love the tofu and Napa cabbage soup. It’s a simple soup but flavorful. Hubby had Kung pao chicken. It could have used some green peppers but was tasty.

This review is for China Express as a whole, but it’s really for their Korean menu. Long story short, the chef lived and worked in Korea for years and has a very strong Korean palate. That translates to decent kimchi and excellent tangsuyuk and jajangmyeon. In my opinion, they have the best tangsuyuk in the Triangle. If you want it Korean-style, make sure to ask them to remove the bamboo shoots. Great find!

This is by far the finest Chinese cuisine in the area. They do some traditional dishes(like jam pong) and do them VERY well. Outstanding & I lived in China for 2 months

This place is very, very, very run down. To quote one of my friends, it is literally a «hole in the wall.» My friends and I decided to come here because we were craving some Chinese food(Jjamppong and Jajangmyun), and for what it’s worth(about $ 10 per entrée), I think this is the best place to go for just that. The other asian restaurants that offer these two go-to noodle dishes around the area are mediocre, in my opinion. I was able to taste both noodle dishes mentioned above(more-so the Jjamppong, I only tasted a little bit of the Jajangmyun) and was satisfied with both dishes. I definitely recommend getting the spicy version of the Jjamppong. The bowl came heaping with noodles, vegetables, and seafood so expect your money’s worth. The Tangsooyuk was good as well(good portions, shared one among six people). Our server was a nice, older lady who was very attentive towards our table. We were able to get our food relatively quickly as well, so that is a plus. The only bad thing is that you feel absolutely terrible afterwards with all the MSG they put in that dish. I felt very sludgy and went into a food coma right at the table, but hey, that’s what makes Chinese food good, right? A good place to eat at casually. Most likely will come eat here again, only if I’m craving the two items mentioned previously.

So I am just going to list the horrors your tastes and stomach will go through with this place. The only good thing about them is are the chicken wings. And before you assume I just tried it once and it was a bad day or something I always visit places three times to confirm whether it is good or bad. The Bad: They recook and precook almost EVERYTHING. I completely understand that is bad to waste food but if you do not want to waste it there are a lot of homeless shelters that will be grateful to receive the unused food at the end of the day. I saw them refry my egg roll! The wonton and egg drop soup smells like piss and tasted even worse. The meat… Ughh no comment there is no way everytime I order chicken it should be like rubber. The wontons seem like that previously sat in broth. The veggies are fresh I am assuming because it hard to hide old veggies… Beware of the veggies are loaded with sauce The is usually ready pretty fast. But I guess if I am heating up left overs dinner would be ready fast everyday. THE Good: The one postive thing about this place is location. The Ugly: The person who takes orders acts as if to have a job is death. Customer service plays a huge role and why should customers have to put up with automatic attitudes when placing orders. NOSTARSNOPOINTSBUTITCOULDITWOULDBENEGATIVE1000 stars for the attitude of the order taker.

A friend told me that China Express is his favorite restaurant, which piqued our interest since we are always on the lookout for good Asian food in the Triangle! We came here with a group of 6 people and were seated in a separate room with larger tables and ended up having most of the room to ourselves. After studying other Unilocal reviews, I ordered the Korean style Jam Pong noodle soup. My husband ordered the beef noodle soup, and the others at the table ordered sweet and sour chicken and noodle soups. Our food came pretty quickly and I was happily surprised by the large bowl portion size of my noodles. The broth was flavorful and hearty – the waitress had explained that the Korean style was lighter than Chinese style. I had asked for the least level of spiciness since I can’t really handle heat. The soup came chock full of veggies, seafood, and handmade noodles – I think I’ve found my favorite place for noodle soup. My husband’s beef noodle soup was also quite good; the broth was a bit saltier than we were used to, but the beef was tender and the noodles(also handmade) were just as delicious in texture as mine. Overall this is a great place to order noodle soup, especially for a cold wintry night! I can’t speak to the non-noodle-soup entrees but my friends seemed to enjoy their sweet and sour chicken as well!

San Shan Jan Pong! If you go here, please do yourself a favor and order their homemade Jan Pong noodles. They load it with veggies and meat! I order mine with different levels of spiciness, depending on how I feel. The only problem I’ve had is the consistency. Sometimes, they slack on the veggies and meat. And sometimes they make it too spicy, or not spicy enough. I order take out, and you get a giant container filled with soup, and a packed chinese takeout box of noodles. Enough for 2 – 3 meals. Can’t go wrong!

So glad I found this place! They have Korean Chinese dishes like jajjang myun, jjambbong, tangsooyook and so much more! I usually pay way too much for them at korean restaurants… This place is truly a hole in the wall. It’s more of a takeout kind of place. Our server wasn’t the best(or the friendliest) but we got our food piping hot! You get a great amount of good food for the price you pay! It’s not the prettiest place in the world but hey, they have a sanitation score of 97.5 so no worries~ They have the typical Chinese takeout food too like general tso, kung pao, egg rolls, etc. in case you don’t want explore their Korean Chinese menu. Oh but ignore their crab rangoons– they slacked on the filling.

I have been coming here for probably 20 years off and on and they have been pretty consistent. This last time, I got a Mongolian beef combo which comes with soup, egg roll and I got an order of pork dumplings. The beef easy sweet with plenty of scallions. The dumplings were doughy and flavorless. Now, I cannot eat shrimp, so I never order any of the seafood dishes. so WHYWASTHERESHRIMPINTHEHOTANDSOURSOUP? I got home and started eating, then a pink half moon shrimp came to the surface. I checked the takeout menu and that should have been PORK(not sure why.). I was horrified – dude, if you run out of pork, shrimp is not a substitute! This place has overall good food especially the soups. except that time when they. well, you read it.

Food: 0 Ambiance: Unknown, I ordered delivery Food/Price: — 1(that’s not a dash 1… its a negative 1) Pros: They aren’t actively trying to murder you Cons: Everything else I’m not some crazy conspiracy theorist, but how anyone could award this place 5 stars without having been bribed(obviously not with their food) or coerced(possibly by being made to eat the food) is utterly ludicrous. $ 0 is too much to ask for the pale, jiggly, emaciated gelatin they claim to be beef and chicken. But maybe not too much for the eggdrop soup that inexplicably wreaked of rotting fish carcasses. I wouldn’t eat a plate of their«food» if they offered to pay ME. The best that can be said of this place is it probably isn’t as bad as a Fear Factor food challenge. Bottom line: Run don’t wok the other direction if you happen to stumble upon this staggering failure of a restaurant.

This place is so great I’ve decided to write my first Unilocal review because of it. Everything from the service to the food was great. *WARNING* This is a hole in the wall place. Don’t go here expecting any extravagant decorations or fancy tableware. Do go here if you want delicious handmade soup noodles! We ordered the Jan Pong and the Stewed Beef Noodle Soup, both spicy of course. From the menu, it looked like they recently updated the prices of the noodle from $ 8.99 to $ 9.99. Even with that extra dollar upcharge, you still get enough food to feed 2 people. We only finish half of the portion and left more content than eating at a few of the so called«fancy» restaurants. The noodles are freshly made everyday so they retain that chewy, yet tender, texture that you can’t get anywhere else in Raleigh. Basically, it’s noodle quality you can be sure to fine at street vendors in China without having to sit on a plane for 24 hours to get. The broths were well seasoned. However, I would recommend to get the Jan Pong extra spicy, it’s the way to do it. Extra compliments for the well seasoned beef in the Beef Stewed Noodles. With most beef stewed noodles that I’ve had, even the ones in big cities like DC or LA, the beef was really mushy and bland. This place cooked the beef to perfection with great seasoning. I don’t know what’s all the fuss is about when people complain about their service. We had a cute little Asian lady who was just super awesome. She was the only server at the time and she somehow managed to take our order, bring us our water/food at a reasonable time, wait on other tables, bring them their food, clean up after tables, and ring up checks. In one word, she was a super waitress! At the end, she even boxed up our leftover for us. You don’t get that kind of service at this kind of price. She totally deserved that 50% tip! This review just basically focused on the handmade Chinese noodles. I haven’t been there for other food so I can’t be a lot of help when it comes to that but on a cold, chilly night, what’s better than a hot(HUGE) bowl of handmade Chinese noodle? :D
