Best tacos around. Carnitas and chicken Tinga are delicious.

It’s Chubby’s, all of them are delicious and have the same menu. Read my ther Chubby’s review, it applies here, too. Briefly, it’s tasty, cheap, and filling. Why wouldn’t you go here? Really?

Chubby’s is the kind of place you went in college. The ambience is ala’sketch, but the food is ‘on time’ and oh so cheap! We were approved for a budget team luncheon and I was about to poke myself in the eye if I have to eat one more day at my work café’. So, I gathered the troops and we headed to Chubby’s. It was quick, cheap, and tasty… and the portions… holy. I felt the meal in my belly for a solid 3 hours later. They have a killer salsa bar where you can get fresh cilantro, lemons, limes, etc to add to your dish. They don’t skimp. Beware, lots of the sides are spicey, even for my taste. I tried the tilapia corn taco and the carne asada taco. both yum. The tilapia one gets the points hands down though. What the ambience lacks(in buckets), the food makes up for in miles! Me and Chubby will be getting it on again. Don’t you worry.

May not be fancy but great. Cheap, delicious and fast! A winner! Salsa bar is great too, and you can get authentic grilled carne asada or carnitas too! A hidden gem!

After hearing multiple people talk about this place, I had to give it a shot. On a whim, I went there for lunch. By the time we arrived, it was 15 mins before closing. The staff was courteous and took our order and gave us our food very quickly. I ordered a shrimp taco combo and it was absolutely delicious!!! for the amount of money I spent, $ 6.50 including tax, I got a completely flavorful and satisfying meal! I will totally eat here again.

Chubby’s has the best nachos in town! Spicy tinga nachos FTW. The salsa bar is amazing. The availability of limes, cilantro and jalapenos allows any customer to make their tacos or nachos exactly to their liking. This place is a great value as you can get a taco, rice, beans, chips and a drink for around $ 5 – 7! Writing this review makes me want to go there today.

Stopped in for lunch. Got a fish taco, rice and black beans + drink for about $ 6.00. Loved the salsa bar. I’ll be back. Why the heck would anyone want Taco Bell? The food from here is the real deal!

Nothing fancy about this place — but they serve great food and fast. Get there early on Fridays or you will be waiting for a table. I get the Barbacoa, Spicy Tinga Chicken and Carnitas tacos on flour tortillas(1 ea). They serve a few chips with your meal, too. $ 6.41 inc. tax(ask for a cup of water) They also provide a much larger salsa bar than other Chubby’s locations — so you can add your own cilantro, onions or jalapenos alongside a variety of sauces & salsas.

AMAZINGSALSA. The salsa bar at this location also has limes, cilantro, and onion, which is sorely missing from the other locations. I usually get the portobella mushroom tacos or the burrito version if I’m feeling like gaining 10 lbs in a sitting. The portion sizes are generous to say the least. The flavors are great. The tortillas are made in house and also very tasty. Used to go here for lunch 2+ times a week. Don’t know how else to say how great it is.

Sometimes I think the best part of work travel is lunch. Having spent weeks upon weeks in the RTP area, I’m still finding hidden gems with each visit. Chubby’s is one of them. Now, it looks like a manufactured home from the road, but it’s clean and the food is awesomeness. As always, I overordered… a carnitas taco, a spicy chicken tinga taco, and the meal special(rice, beans, chips & drink). But overordering only cost me about $ 7.50, so no complaints. Next time, I’ll probably do one taco + the meal special and call it a day. The portions are pretty generous. While I was waiting for my meal to come up, I had a chance to peruse the salsa bar… all sort of tomato & tomatillo salsas, the guacatillo salsa(tomatillo based salsa + guac = YUM!), cilantro, raw white onion… a haven of bad breath but deliciousness on the tongue. I was most impressed with the spicy chicken tinga… not so spicy that you need to gulp milk, but spicy enough for you to remember… smother it with some onions, salsa & guacatillo, and life is good. The carnitas wasn’t bad but reminded me a bit much of pot roast. Now I love me some pot roast, but just not in my taco. I greatly enjoyed dipping my chips in refried beans and salsa and stuffing my face. Next time I’ll try just one new taco + the meal special and keep it a little over $ 5.

Amazing value and choices! You get so much food for your money. Also the salsa/dip bar is awesome! Highly recommended for anyone looking for a quick bite to eat.

This place is awesome! By far the best Mexican food I tried during my summer stay in North Carolina. Their salsa bar has plenty of good salsas, prices are relatively inexpensive, and portions are great! Keep in mind they don’t stay open late as they’re in the heart of corporateville. With that said though, I definitely recommend Chubby!

The burritos here are awesome. Prices are decent and the food came pretty quickly. The salsa bar was impressive, the habanero salsa was VERY spicy. This is the place to go for mexican food in RTP.

This place rocks!!! Came on a business trip and was recommended by fellow employees and locals and went there several times and the food was fantastic. I was afraid I would not be able to find a decent mexican restaurant in north carolina but this place is great. Good food and prices were great. Burritos were huge and i should know i live in little mexico in oregon where there are several mexican food trucks in my block alone and even then this food was just perfect. I love the salsa bar as they give you many choices and lots of different types. I brought some friends and employees with me and they loved this place. Only bad thing is they close early and never open for dinner otherwise i would have eaten there more times. I even bought a chubby t-shirt as a souvenier. loved it.Recommend this place for people going to durham or raleigh north carolina. You will not go wrong at all.

Awesome! Incredibly good food, good prices, tasty. A salsa bar that goes on and on with imaginative and delicious salsas… not to be missed is the guacatillo salsa, a cross between green salsa and guacamole. The habenero is also sublime! Tacos, burritos, tortas, and more. Chubby’s is AWESOME!

Chubby’s Tacos. How can you not love a place with a name like this? Oh, and the food you ask? Moderatly cost effective for lunch(never eaten dinner here) if you onl eat«a» taco or «a» burreto. A two taco meal with rice, beans and fountain drink will run about $ 8(drinks not included in the meal option). Food taste and quality was good and there was a ton of different sauces to add. If you haven’t tried this place I would give it a run.

Great lunch spot in RTP — it’s cheap(can get full for under $ 5 if you want), has a good variety of food, everything tastes fresh, and the service is awesome. Everybody there is super-nice and attentive. The(free) salsa bar puts crap like Moe’s to shame. Beware the habanero salsa — it’s actually hot. Oh, and try the Horchata if they have it, it’s a perfect after meal drink.

This place is now called CHubby’s Tacos. I’ve submitted a change request. I’ll remove this when it has the right name. One of my biggest complaints about Mexican places that aren’t chain based is they all seem to share the same menu. Same special numbers, orders, everything. The food is great, but no variety in the region. Chubby’s is different. Completely different, and completely awesome. Very inexpensive. A decent menu but your typical grab and go grub with great flavor. They have multiple taco flavors. THey have $ 2 versions and $ 3 versions. The $ 3 version is what I went with a couple of their Carne Asada versions. NIce head-sweatting spicy. They have a salsa bar with a wide selection of options, including a ‘guacatino’ or something like that which I didn’t try as I’m not a huge avocado fan. My compatriot at lunch however inhaled the stuff so I’m guessing it was good.
