«We’re fools whether we dance or not, so we might as well dance.» ~Japanese Proverb I found out about Hot Club of Durham when I was checking out Groupon one day and found a deal for swing dance classes. On a whim I got two deals with Hot Club of Durham. As soon as I got the groupon I had buyer’s remorse; I kept thinking I never dance real good, and I will just make a fool of myself. Unwilling to waste a tremendously good deal(regularly $ 75 lessons for $ 10 with Groupon) I finally signed up for a lesson session. Most of you that know me have heard me said before, that my favorite TV show is «Man v Food,» usually airs Wednesday nights @ 9PMEST, which coincidentally fall exactly same time slot as my recent beginner east coast classes. I will leave the Adam Richman for Hot Club, and that shows you how cool this is. What I have signed up, and same with all their beginner’s courses, are group lessons. The instructor was really into it from the get-go. Knowledgeable and know how to share it, not only did he show you the correct steps and moves, he also show you what NOT to do, which sometimes is easier to learn. I’m not saying I’m the next Fred Astaire, but just from two lessons I got enough moves, and more importantly confidence, to attend the dance socials, which H.C.D also offers every Thursdays in the same location, right in the Trotter building. I think I will use that second Groupon now and sign up for Beginner East Coast 2 right now.
