Indeed. This place looks abandoned. Especially if you go after 2pm… or on a holiday. Weekdays, 7 – 2, though, it can still look closed, but like folks say, it’s not. Inside, the chicken and fried foods look AMAZING. Only tried the hot dogs. Very respectable. Can’t wait to go back and try a chuckwagon sandwich. And that fried chicken.

I’m 36 and this place was here before me i think it been here 50 years or more. The place may look closed but its not go on in and taste the best whole in the wall old time food you ever had. There hot dogs are the best in Durham. They are called Doyle’s dogs. The fried chicken and pork chops go fast. They have a good steak and gravy sandwhich that melts in your mouth. The desserts are off the charts and they will even make you a whole one to take home. The people are very nice and friendly. The red bench is for you to sit on and enjoy a fast bite but don’t sit on the freezer, you can eat and pray on freezer but no sitting. They even have a credit sign in there made buy Helen Wait… LOL…its funny! The only thing I think they need is more side items and accept credit cards its a cash only place. I think if you are in Durham this is a must stop by place to eat.

Talk about your hole in the wall. This place has not changed in YEARS! Those guys can fry a chicken! If you want to be waited on hand and foot, go somewhere else. If you want an amazing home made fried chicken then come before 11:45 because they go fast. If you ask for a Fried chicken sandwich they will give you some fried chicken, between 2 buns… you get to pull the meat off(and it taste alot better that way) If you miss the fried chicken I recommend the steak sandwich with gravy, and add some must and onions… Wow those things are like nothing you ever tasted. I am a fan of this hole in the wall, the location is out of my way, but worth going that far. My only downfall is they never have enough of the big ticket items.
