Hotel is now a Doubletree and is completely renovated. The restaurant might have a different name now. I had lunch here and the service was excellent. The classic club sandwich hit the spot, and was perfectly prepared. The coffee service was without flaw. The ambiance is quiet and comfortable. I have nothing bad to say. Highly recommend Doubletree. I left feeling refreshed and impressed.

The place was empty on a Saturday evening. Should have been a clue. Crab dip was hot and good, if a bit light on the crab, but the pita«chips» served alongside were just a grocery store pita sliced in wedges. Salad was crisp and green. The $ 23 ribeye, though, was quite a disappointment. I’ve had better steaks at Western Sizzler. On the positive side, I ordered rare and it came out rare and hot – something you don’t always get. But the cut itself was completely unrecognizable as a ribeye. Very poor marbling and rather chewy. You’d be much better off with a sirloin at Applebee’s. The service was friendly but lackluster… strictly a 15% night, and I do tip well for good service. The highlight of the meal – and the only reason for the 2nd star – was dessert. My wife got a layered chocolate cake that was rich, dense, and very chocolatey. I had fried banana cheesecake chunks with caramel and strawberries. Loved it. If you come here, come just for dessert. There’s a reason Remington’s is empty on a weekend evening. It’s an OK restaurant at «very good» restaurant prices.

Well, it’s hotel food. Southern hotel food. Arriving in the evening and wanting something other than the late-night menu from the bar, Monkey opted for the CHICKEN&WAFFLE w/pecan maple syrup for $ 14. I can’t say that Monkey had craved southern-style cooking, but when in Rome… Low expectations and starving all day since my early morning cereal is probably what made this dinner a winner. When you peel off the breading, the fried chicken breast was tender and moist. Breading was somewhat crispy, but oh that waffle for dinner… Plenty of pecans in maple syrup… Mmm… Dinner & Breakfast all at once! Service is on the spot! Very nice, attentive & friendly. Restaurant is very clean, bright and a pleasant place to eat. The next day… Since Monkey did dinner & breakfast last night, it would only be fair to do the lunch buffet, right? Fried pork chops, baked jerk chicken, mashed potatoes & gravy, sauteed carrots and salad bar was featured for $ 9. Fearing the impending heart attack, Monkey do the baked jerk chicken, potatoes, carrots and salad without dressing. Sounded safe enough. Chicken was swimming in butter, potatoes bled butter as much as the carrots and the salad bar might as well come in a bag. If Monkey go upstairs and throws up lunch, do all the calories and cholesterol come out, too? Future reference: Do take advantage of the hotel shuttle to visit other restaurants. This place will clog your arteries and increase your medical bills.
