I wanted to love this place as my mother and I are always looking for local boutiques to shop at vs chain stores. However, the customer service is terrible and it does not have the local charm that you would hope for from a shop like this one. If you enjoy great customer service and nice clothing, keep going to Nordstrom because you will not get it here.

Well, I wasn’t totally smitten with smitten. They’re slightly off the beaten path of Main St, so may not get as much foot traffic as, say, Uniquities. I’d read up on them in the recent Durham Mag and was excited to see what they were all about. Dropped in this afternoon and perused the wares. I love that they share a space with Teresa’s (a home/​gift store), so you can potentially get everything from candles to clutches in one convenient stop.
They have a mix of accessories and ladies clothing, and actually stock a pretty impressive volume. The reason for the three-​star rating has more to do with the fact that it seems to skew a bit older so most of the stuff was not to my taste. That said, I think it’s a cool (and probably needed!) alternative to many of the boutiques downtown.
