Manager Chase was wonderful in helping me find the perfect color to match my accent pillow. He was knowledgable of the type of paint I needed for my project and saved me money.

Don’t be put off by the wolf whistling frog at the door.(Or take my little brother’s view of it and see it as a fun attraction.) Ace Hardware stores are always the epitome of friendly service and practicality, and this one is no different. We were able to easily and quickly locate the cleaning supplies(and suet) that we needed, and all of the employees were pleasant and helpful. Besides, the paint selection is GREAT. I got to arrange a new color scheme and pick a finish – and choose between three classic paint brands. And they stock the best black cherry soda brand around. Plus, free popcorn!

About three weeks after buying and moving into our new home, we awakened to find our kitchen undergoing an invasion of small, black ants. We tried different things(including scrubbing the kitchen), yet they seemed unaffected. I was able to track them as coming into our home from a receptacle near the sink. I went to the Ace Hardware store and quickly received a suggestion to purchase and use two products that they would eat and take back to their nest. Over the next few days we saw a diminishing stream of ants and within five days there were no ants invading our home. Great folks there with great advice!

This place needs a recent review. I’ve used this a couple of times to get my basic needs. The staff has always been friendly, and there’s usually no lines and easy parking. Yesterday I went there to get a key made. I think they guy working the machine was new at it and almost out my original key in the grinder side! I should have taken that as a sign to double checks his work. Got the wrong template so the grooves were mirror image. I didn’t take a hard look at it until I got home and realized the key didn’t even fit in my door. I had to run back and get another one made for my guests coming over. It made for such a long day. At least he was smart enough to ask the manger for some help, who clearly knew what he was doing. Thankfully I was ably to get the proper key made. The manager seemed to know that this is a neighborhood store and knew how to handle their customers. I’d give them another shot, just double check your keys BEFORE you leave the store(lesson learnt)

New to Durham, not sure what to expect from a local HW store. Surprised but pleased by the competitive prices. Pricilla treated me like a neighbor, and Jeff made an executive decision in honoring my coupon. I like being able to park about 10 steps from the front door. I’ll be back.

This is a great hardware store — the floor employees are really friendly and knowledgeable. You can go in and describe what you need — «the thingy for the drain to fish stuff out when something falls down there» or «that part of the toilet tank where the little tube goes into the big tube» and they’ll immediately lead you to the correct item. One thing that’s kind of interesting is that they really don’t seem more expensive than Lowe’s or Depot — sometimes small stores have a reputation for being more expensive because they don’t have the advantage of economies of scale, so I was pleasantly surprised when the prices seemed the same. That said, sometimes the checkout employees are unnecessarily slow and inattentive. This is why the store gets 4 stars instead of 5. You’ll often walk up to the counter and find the checkout employee engaged in some other task and they almost seem to act like you’re interrupting them. They don’t have any sense of urgency, which is unfortunate because you can have a great experience finding everything you need in the store, but then you walk out with a bad impression because the checkout employees are so leisurely.

Good place for hardware. Also has a pharmacy and a Sherwin Williams. Most of the staff are knowledgeable about what they carry. Always friendly staff, though sometimes hard to find someone who is free to answer questions

Great place! Love the people and the pharmacy is great! We’ve switched all of our family prescriptions here because there is never a wait. When we walk in, Bart always recognizes us and immediately gives us what we need. I’d much rather visit my local True Value then go to a big box store, and the selection is pretty good here for basic household needs. They also have a great selection of Benjamin Moore paints and paint supplies, which is very nice to have so close by!

I really love this place and they have absolutely everything. Reminds me of Saturdays in small-town Raeford, NC, with my granddad. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful(they always offer assistance, but they also let you do your own thing, if that’s what you prefer). I just picked up a 10′ Werner folding ladder for $ 49.95. They’ve also got great automotive, outdoors, and home improvement sections, and basically every type of tool, screw, nail, and light bulb known to man(all things I’ve had to purchase since our move in September). Attached is the Benjamin Moore paint store, which makes this a great one-stop shop for all of your fix-it needs. I much prefer Triangle True Value Hardware to some megastore because it is locally owned, has that small-town, homey feel, and is rarely super-crowded(parking is a cinch). This hardware store also has great hours, great sales, and is in a super-convenient location in the Woodcroft shopping center.

Good alternative to the big box stores. I really like going to this store because you get better service than in either the big orange or blue box stores. The trade off is obviously selection but I’ve never left without the item I was looking for. They are however a true ‘hardware’ store — meaning they are not a lumber yard or a mason. They have basic hardware, plumbing, eletrical, tools, and gardening supplies. I also like to use Benjamin Moore paint and they are a supplier. The store also has an ‘old school’ key cutter which is really handy if you have to cut ‘old school’ keys like for classic cars or old door knobs. Overall, good for quick pickups or if you need help figuring something out.

For a non-chain hardware store, Triangle True Value actually has a great selection. I came here for spackle and anchors for hanging pictures, but ended up browsing the entire store because it had a nice, local feel. Looking at the prices, they appear to be cheaper than the national hard ware stores, and they were running specials on a lot of items(including all paint). Based on price alone, I’m going to start checking them more often than traditional retailers because I think there are some cost savings to be had. The staff was also extremely friendly and helped me find what was best for my needs.
