This is my go-to for thai in Durham especially for takeout. I am always amazed at how quickly they have my order ready(seriously, like 10 minutes) and waiting for me and it is SOMUCH food. I especially love the curries and my husband likes the«Crying Tiger.» I agree that the service can be so-so when dining in but they are always friendly and usually not terribly crowded.

Good Thai food but questionable service. We recently dined there and decided to take advantage of Unilocal’s free appetizer with check-in option. When we asked to redeem it, our server told us that we could only get an appetizer that did not contain. This was probably because all the meatless appetizers are cheaper than most. In conclusion, the food wasn’t bad, but I don’t like how the staff cheated us out of our free appetizer of choice.

Let me start by saying that we live down the street and we are an almost irritating regular at this place; to the point where I’m the current Duke of TN(as of Nov. 2015) Our favorite waiter is always here when we are for dinner and we love that he knows us by name. The wait staff are courteous and adaptable to your tastes. We usually order a combination of some type of curry, noodles, and/or noodle soup. My personal favorite dish is the pad see ew or tom yum noodle soup. Both dishes are flavorful and generous in portion. You’re sure to be full and/or have leftovers. The authenticity of this place definitely compares to good Thai I’ve had in California. Verdict: definitely recommend this place! Two thumbs up. :)

I have to eat gluten free, and that is no problem here. They know which of their dishes can be gf by recall. I prefer their curries, but the noodle dishes are also good. The mango sticky rice is yummy.

This place is a tucked away gem. Noodle soups! Tom Ka, or Beef noodle soup. Both awesome. Thai iced tea made a little less sweet than other places. I love it. Great for large groups, and the service is quick and friendly.

I love coming to this place bc it’s close to my work and the food is good. I always get the same thing which is the yellow curry noddles which are amazing. The pad Thai is not great but they make it the desserts

I never order anything besides the drunken noodles(chicken, and extra spicy) because I’m a sucker for anything that’s salty & spicy with a hint of sweetness and I do like the way they prepare drunken noodles here. Over the course of my 10+ visits here I’ve also tried friends’ dishes, including pad thai and various curry dishes and all have been satisfactory to good. Use the Unilocal check in deal to score a free appetizer with purchase of two entrees. Unfortunately this can only be used for the vegetarian appetizers – it can’t be used for chicken satay, which is a shame because chicken satay is always delicious. Peanut butter, soy sauce, and sugar combined in a savory, decadent peanut sauce? Sign me up.

For $ 10, I was expecting an exceptional plate of fried rice, and that’s exactly what I got. Twisted Noodle made probably the best chicken fried rice I’ve ever had — it was super juicy, flavorful, and anything but bland! My boyfriend got the Panang Curry which was also delicious, and I’m 100% not a curry person. Would definitely recommend the food! The service was also great — no complaints!

This was the first Thai place we tried when we got to Durham and we definitely weren’t disappointed. We went for dinner and it was a little overpriced so I would recommend going for lunch. It wasn’t the best, but we were really craving Thai and it satisfied our craving. The waitress was also very nice which was a plus.

We were served a frozen appetizer, wasnt comped for it. Just told the oil wasn’t hot enough for cooking yet and thats why the inside of our«basket shrimp» had frozen insides. If the oils not hot enough to cook yet wait it out until its hot enough we wouldn’t have minded waiting for hot food. Also be aware that the«free appetizer with 2 main meals» is only limited to 2 things Unilocal deals. The main meal was so-so I had the glass noodles and the only saving grace of those were the fact that they have hot chilli powder you can put on. I asked for hot chili oil which they said they had and they handed me powder. Weird. Sad that this wasnt very good. I should have known the place was empty. At least our waiter was nice! Oh well guess we learned our lesson.

Had a great lunch experience. Solo eating. Wanted some peace and quiet to eat my lunch and read a book, and got just that. Service was attentive without being intrusive. Had lunch special drunken noodles. Came with a hot broth and salad. While salad itself was just lettuce, dressing was extra yummy. Wish I could buy it for home! Drunken noodles were great with good flavor. Shrimp were good size and quality and properly cooked. I don’t get to Chapel Hill often, but I would definitely eat here again.

We foolishly gave this place a second chance, mostly because almost everything in Durham was closed due to the weather. Kudos for being open, Twisted Noodles! Also, kudos(sarcasm) for having the worst customer service I’ve ever encountered at a restaurant. Ever accidentally order something you didn’t mean to or something not on your diet or maybe even something you may be allergic to? Don’t you dare try that here, there is no mercy! I don’t eat meat and I obviously didn’t read the Pineapple Fried Rice dish details closely enough– my bad, but silly me for thinking something like this may not have meat. I mean, first off, why isn’t it called ‘Shrimp & Chicken fried rice’ if it has two meats as the main ingredient, instead of randomly picking one of it’s ten other vegetarian ingredients for the title? Anyhow, when I brought this up to the server she basically said ‘Tough sh-t, it said chicken on the menu so you’re screwed’. Admittedly, that’s not exactly what she said, but I couldn’t really understand her. What she DIDN’T say was ‘We want our customers satisfied and we don’t want them paying for food they don’t enjoy, so let me remake that for you without chicken’. I mean, I don’t make it a habit to order the wrong food nor do I want to waste their money, but I have never been treated so rudely before. Shame on them to have a dissatisfied customer sitting awkwardly with a full plate of food that they can’t eat in front of them, and not offer to resolve the situation! And to think, we had hopes that this place’s service had changed. Never again! With all the great places in Durham, its hard to believe Twisted Noodles is still in business.

For $ 10, I was satisfied by this meal. My team came here for a quick lunch break and were pleasantly surprised by the options and quick service. We all ordered a lunch special. My order was the veggie medley with tofu with a side of jasmine rice. Every lunch order came with soup and salad with a delicious ginger sauce. Also, we took advantage of my check in on Unilocal and got a free appetizer of vegetarian egg rolls to share! We were definitely satisfied after we left Twisted Noodles, and I’m sure we will be returning soon. No complaints here. Quick service, decent Thai food, and very reasonable price. Update: you can order brown rice instead of white if you prefer! It’s not on the lunch menu, but make sure to ask if you so desire.

Came here for lunch. Lunch special price for Pad Thai is $ 8.25 and comes with an egg roll(that’s right, JUST one, what a teaser). Also chose a free appetizer(Tofu Delight) from a selected list in order to use the Unilocal check-in deal [always love these unexpected deals — thank you Unilocal!]. Pad Thai is not as flavorful as what I’m familiar with, but it’s good. Tofu Delight is nice and crispy, comes with 8 pieces. Staff is attentive and friendly. Plenty of parking in the lot.

Located at the back of a small strip center, this place is just what you want it to be — convenient, fast, and reasonably priced. It doesn’t offer extravagant food found in trendy downtown restaurants but it’s still much better than standard fare Asian take out. I asked for my dish to be spicy and it was the perfect level of heat. It was flavorful and fresh. Customer service was polite and efficient. The perfect take out option once the kids are in bed and you’re ready to que up a movie.

Twisted Noodles is a full-service, full-menu Thai restaurant hidden in one of Durham’s less attractive shopping centers. We were drawn to trying the place out for a weekend dinner because of repeated endorsements from a friend of ours. There is nothing impressive about the design of the interior. The restaurant basically looks like a takeout place with a large dining area. The kitchen runs the entire length of the dining room and would be an open concept if it weren’t blocked with opaque glass. So you’re basically sitting beside the kitchen in a food court-esque environment. There’s also a nice aquarium – not ideally placed, but that’s really the only thing to write about. The food is fairly standard fare. Taste is good but obviously saturated with MSG(I’m not an anti-MSG freak. But I don’t welcome it as a primary cooking aid either). Prepare to be gritty-mouthed and bloated afterward. Service is probably Twisted Noodles sorest spot. As a Thai restaurant, you would expect traditional courteousness and hospitality. And while you will be sorely disappointed, the service isn’t necessarily bad. It’s just far from good. We attempted to use the check-in special offer from Unilocal. But after taking a look and looking extremely confused, one of the servers just gave us some kind of lame excuse and said it wasn’t valid. The terms and conditions seemed to indicate otherwise. Dining with at least 5 people in your party? Gratuity will be automatically added. But the server will still ask if you want your change back – tricks to fool you into leaving extra tip. There are also several signs indicating at least a $ 10 or $ 15 charge(inconsistent signage) required for credit card transactions. Basically, you’ll get an overall perception of some sketchiness. I’m by no means saying there is anything immoral going on here. But it’s just an odd feeling. So given the odd environs, basic food, MSG side effects, and sub-par experience, Twisted Noodle may not be the place for a date or special occasion. But it’s OK for a basic weekday meal. Come here for a cheat meal. Don’t expect anything more and you’ll be fine.

In total, this place was a disappointment. However, the people were kind there and the service was very fast and friendly. I had heard from several people that Twisted Noodles was delicious and I should try it. So on a random Friday night after work, my Boo and I decided to give it a shot. He ordered the Tom Yum noodles and I ordered a red curry with pork. The Tom Yum noodles were extraordinarily bland and some of the chicken had these strange gray marks on it(pen marks??). My boyfriend said it tasted like frozen chicken thrown into a dish. I didn’t dare trying it myself… My red curry was a good flavor but the pork in it tasted tough and also funky. And the green beans were undercooked while the bell peppers seemed to be overcooked. Eeek, this made me nervous… All in all, this food was not fresh and we tasted it right off the bat. The wait-staff noticed we were not eating our food and when we simply said«sorry, it just wasn’t good» they kindly offered to make us something else, anything else. We both just wanted to leave at that point though and declined their offer. Maybe it was an «off night» for them, perhaps a new/different chef, bad produce choices, but sad to say, I will not be going back. There are so many good Asian spots between Durham, Raleigh, and Morrisville and Twisted Noodles is simply not one of them at the moment. Don’t waste your time.
