My partner and I, after hearing decent reviews for Gino’s, decided to give it a try last night. My partner wasn’t impressed; I’m a little easier to please because I haven’t experienced the fine dining that he has. We were seated immediately upon arriving. There was a live band which was nice, but it was much too loud to allow any intimate conversation without constant repeating. The waitress was attentive and checked on us often but wasn’t suffocating. Drinks were refilled without being forced to ask, and plates were cleared promptly. We ordered the crab cake appetizer. While it had good flavor, it consisted entirely of stuffing. My partner ordered the New York strip — medium rare, garlic mashed potatoes, and lobster bisque. I ordered the chicken artichoke, garlic mashed potatoes, and lobster bisque. The New York strip had decent flavor but was gritty and lacked tenderness. Both of us agreed the garlic mashed potatoes were dry. I had to smother mine with butter and still added the roasted pepper drippings in order to eat them. The lobster bisque tasted alright but lacked any actual lobster. My partner did not like it and stated he would take me downtown to taste real lobster bisque. I liked the chicken artichoke. The chicken was so tender I could cut it with my fork. For dessert, I ordered the vanilla bean cheesecake which was so good, but it was pretty sweet and rich, and I couldn’t finish it. My partner ordered the bread pudding which he seemed to like. We’re not picky customers by any means, and the meal was okay, but it wasn’t $ 136 worth. We did bring home nearly an entire meal worth of leftovers, so that does speak well for the serving sizes though.

The good was very good, but not outstanding. The wine list(for wines by the glass) was sub par for a wine aficionado – too young and reds served room temperature(too warm). The service was adequate, but gruff and there were a lot of mistakes. We had a big party so I guess it didn’t matter as the tip was included in our bill. The biggest issue I had was that we were quoted a 20 minute wait for a table(as we were very early to dinner(before six). That 20 minutes turned into 90. I watched from our waiting group as regulars were brought in, bumped to the front of the line, and seated. It’s hard to get two tables to put together when this occurs. The only reason we actually got seated was because one kind gentleman(a regular customer) realized that we were getting ready to leave if we weren’t seated. When they offered to put him in an emptying table they were planning to pull together for us, he told them«You’d better seat them before they leave.» Otherwise, I think we’d have left and gone elsewhere. If you’re from out of town or have a large party, I’d watch out. I’m sure there’s better in town.

Gino’s is a classic steakhouse, unlike many of the new houses located in downtown Chicago. You get a soup or salad and a potato with each steak. That’s classic. Soft, big band music sets the mood with modern décor. I would suggest dimming the lights a bit in the dining room. The good thing, unlike some other steakhouses, you won’t need a flashlight to see your men. Steaks are cooked just right, with the perfect char. The service is spot on with attentive servers and assistants. Parking is free. Although the setting has changed, the food remains classic from the Gino’s I remember 20 years ago.

So disappointed! My husband ordered the ribeye, and it was grade B meat– something you could get at a chain restaurant, but triple the price. I ordered the steak medallions, well done. They came out RARE(not pink, not red, but rare). I sent them back, simply asking them to cook them longer(reminding that I ordered them well done). They still came back RARE! I’m not talking pink or a little red in the middle– rare! WAY over-priced for the quality of food you receive. We were offered no compensation for my meal, other than a free drink(which we declined, because we were finished with dinner). We will not be returning.

Had dinner here tonight for our 22nd anniversary. First time since the remodel. The food was excellent, our waitress was great and everything was pretty much perfect. Thanks for a great evening.

So I won a gift card to go here and I always wanted to try it. The first thing I noticed was the décor. Very clean and nice on the inside. Looks like the typical fine dining restaurant, but one thing that I was confused by is the music choice. They were playing pop music… like something you’d hear on B96. That didn’t make any sense to me. It didn’t go along w the«ambiance». My boyfriend suggested that maybe it was because it was somewhat early(630p). At around 7pm they did dim the lights, but kept the same music rolling… smh. Anyways, service was good. I had the rack of lamb and asked for it medium, but came out more med rare. He had the NY strip. Was good, but a hard pill to swallow with the $ 36 price tag… for a steak? Stuffed mushrooms were great. I’m not a big fan of the peppers everyone raves about, but that’s me. I’ll go back again… only if someone else paying. For 2 entrees, an app, and 6 drinks(3apiece) bill came to $ 130. Was happy to have the $ 100 gift card.

Their food is top one. Best roasted peppers I’ve ever had! Deserts are delicious! I have never ordered anything I could complain about.

Will I normally do not give comments but this an exception. We just left the restaurant and this is what happened. We sat down and the server came by and we talked and gave our order. I ordered the 16 ounce prime rib which was the only size offered and my wife ordered the a veal dish. My prime rib came with a sauce on it which i was not told about and I do not like sauce on my meat. The server know i was unhappy and returned it to the kitchen. The kitchen rinsed off the meat and gave it back to me. I did not say anything. The meat was very tough but I still did not send it back. After the meal the server asked if we would like desert and we order teramiso my spelling is bad but anyway she came back and said they were all out this was at 6:30 on a Saturday night. I then asked for the check I was shocked that the 16 ounce of bad beef was $ 39.00 so I asked for the manager. We had to wait but i did. Finally She came out and we talked about what was going on. She did not seem to care or offer anything for a future dinner. It was like to bad and I have your money. I then said I do not think we would be back and she did not care and walked away. I really do not think she was the manager just some one that works there. I will never go back and I will tell everyone I know not to. I an not hiding and cane be reached by Email @ steven-weinberg@

My boyfriend and I went there last night, and the food was just okay. The best part of our meal was the bread and the bell peppers that were at our table. The calamari was rubbery and the steak was dry. My boyfriend ordered the surf and turf and he knew it would be expensive and we thought it would be around 70 dollars, when the bill came it was $ 99.00. I feel like the waitress should have warned him, also when we were ordering our salads the waitress asked us what type of dressing we wanted, my boyfriend said caesar dressing, and then when the bill came she up charged us for a caesar salad, we had no idea. The food was just okay and NOT worth the price.

Just as good as most any other steakhouse I have been to, but much closer, so that is a plus. Have not been in awhile, but always enjoyed going. Tend to order the bone-in filet each time, as it is so soft you can cut it with a butter knife. The only reason I am not giving it five stars is the oysters on one occasion(oysters Rockefeller) had pretty much nothing on them to remind me of proper Rockefeller oysters. This was on only one occasion and the problem was remedied the very next time. Definitely try it out.

I can only give three stars. Food is good, but the wait staff is incredibly rude. It’s been a year since our last visit, and yet again, another waitress who acted as though she was doing us a favor. When you are dropping that kind of money, you should get exceptional friendly service. Yep, time to boycot!

I know that this is a steak house but I was in the mood for their pasta. I had their chicken Alfredo and though it wasn’t bad it also wasn’t terribly memorable either. Few touches like fresh noodles or more of a unique variation on Alfredo sauce would have worked wonders as the same with the chicken preparation that went along with it. If pressed its better than Olive Garden but not 8 dollars better than OG. Service was decent however.

As a lover of all foods and one who’s all time favorite Resturant was the original Gino’s Steakhouse in Harvey I love this place. The best marinated peppers and there right on the money the way they were made at the old Resturant. Also the oysters Rockefeller is spot on. My next item is the scallops appetizer. They are delicious. The Gino’s special steak dinner with the blue cheese and the double baked potato is also my favorite. The only thing missing that they do not make it the strawberry short cake from the original menu. Thank you for opening my all time favorite place to eat.

I like the Gino’s in Dyer, Indiana better. It is less noisy than the one in Merrillville. We went here for Valentine’s Day and we loved the oysters there!!! They were very good!!! I then ended up getting the Filet Medallions and they were also very good!!! We plan on going back soon!!! ;)

I really like Gino’s. I do not go very often however when I do I always find myself asking why I waited so long. Our office gets tired of all of the fast food options out there and wind up looking for something different. Today I visited for lunch with three coworkers each had full meals including salads and our total final bill was $ 56 before tip. Three of us had the lemon chicken dish while another had chicken Parmesan, all of the food was delicious and was presented in a beautiful fashion. The waitstaff was and is always extremely friendly and seemed genuinely interested in helping. I can still taste the garlic peppers. I know I’m enjoying it but not sure how others are appreciating the smell. Gino’s has two locations one in Dyer the other in Merrillville, I have visited them both and happen to prefer the decore in the Merrillville location over that of the Dyer location but I work close to Dyer and visit there more frequently. I have also hosted several events with groups ranging from 30 to 70 people and have been delighted at how they set up custom menus for us and made dealing with the alcohol tab very simple in comparison to other restaurants in Northwest Indiana. This restaurant is owned by the same family who own jelly restaurant and the bullpen luxury lounge I have been to all of their locations and will review them separately however I’m looking forward to going back to them all thank you your restaurants make a wonderful addition to Our community.

Went on a Saturday for a friend’s fiftieth birthday. Had the special filet… not too impressed. I ordered medium rare and I got medium. Overall it was ok but pricey. The filet special with cheese, fries, soup, carrot cake and 2 Peroni’s $ 95
