It’s clean, it’s wide, it’s pretty ‘ideal’. The monument itself is currently just some stonework, plaques are missing and HOPEFULLY being redone. If you do want to check it out, park at the car wash or the oil change place right across the highway. You may have to dodge some traffic and put yourself in harms way but, you’ll get to see the marker stones. There’s still a double sided sign at the ‘beginning’ of the 1.5 ish mile stretch located at the southwest corner of the Calumet /Joliet(Route 30) intersection. Easiest way to see it is by parking at the Speedway gas station on that corner. As far as the 1.5 mile stretch of road… it’s a road, nice n wide and al that, clean and has a middle turning lane(like most roads). If you like historical stuff, and are in the area, go take a peak, snap some photos, there’s not much to really LOOK at, unless you’re like super into roads and infrastructure… but hey, you can say you’ve been to ‘The Ideal Section of The Lincoln Highway’
