White Rhino

Right off the bat, I’d like to say the food is good and I’ve never had a bad experience dining in, hence the two stars.
That being said, I placed an order online via Grubhub. This is the third time I’ve done so at White Rhino, and they haven’t managed to get the carry out order right once. This time, I was missing a whole entrée. White Rhino tried to proceed to tell me that I didn’t order that entrée, requiring me to show a screenshot of the order to prove I ordered it, and then another 10 – 15 minute wait for the other item I paid for. Between being told I had to pay again for ¹⁄₃^rd of my order, having to produce the information they presumably also had from the service as proof, and the annoyance of an extra 15 minute wait because I had to wait for the missing one, I’m rather put off from eating here. If this was an isolated incident and not EVERY carry out order I’ve made here, I’d feel differently.
It’s a shame, as I said, the food IS good and my dining in experiences have been generally pleasant.

I heard a lot of positive things about this place I really wasn’t that impressed. One our waitress over charged us for our drinks. But the nachos were good and the steak sandwich was kinda chewy. I would give it a second try in the future.

By far one of the best places for vegetarians to get a great mushroom Burger! The staff is great, and the prices are really decent for what you get. I always get the portabella mushroom sandwich with sweet potato fries. The atmosphere is great as well. Quickly becoming a favorite place to go!

This was one of our first stops as newer residents of the area and we have been back several Xs since. Food has been good. Great Bloody Mary’s. Love watching a Bears game there. Good Wings, Sandwiches. Kids menu was good.

Service is usually good but can be extremely busy so sometimes its hard to get the waiters attention. The food is usually tasty. In my opinoin the menu is small and not a lot of options for my pickyness but everything ive gotten has been good. They have pretty great drinks for the most time. And the bar is great for night outs and drinks. The seating is limited but has outdoor seating too in two areas. Its small inside they have high top tables, low tops, and booths. They have a game area with more tables upstairs. Lots of tvs, live bands in a small front cramped area. Music on weekends. Sometimes it get loud in there. I personally know the owner shes a part of my moms group of friends. Shes really awesome. Youre usually seated fast. They do take out and deliverys for large parties. They host parties upstairs with reservations. They do a bunch of group outtings and acitivities that are posted on their fb n webpage or at the restaurant.

I’ve only been here for lunch so I can’t speak to the night scene or bar environment. I’ve enjoyed every sandwich I’ve had here. Very friendly service and convenient location. A good place to meet someone for lunch on a weekday.

Me and my best friend were driving past and heard the music and decided to stop in. They were having a fun raiser for the St. Baldricks foundation but they still found us a seat and the customer service was great and so was the food. I ordered nachos off the appetizer list thinking they would be small and they were huge. I also ordered calamari and it was so fresh. My friend ordered a chicken Philly which was always huge and so good. Oh yeah we had uv drinks that were 3 dollars and not weak at all. Our waitress Hailey was very nice and gave us great customer service. This was our first time here but it won’t be our last.

Service suck order the appraiser platter didn’t get any sauces with it, my husband order the chicken tender they were burnt, think the waitress Cookie S was quick to take are money, not kool

I went here for a private party, but ordered off the regular menu. My husband and I decided on meat free nachos and friend green beans. Where have fried green beans been all my life?! They were amazing! The nachos were just ok… they appeared to have been assembled and then put under a broiler or something, so then all the cheese on the outside cemented everything together which made it very difficult to eat them without breaking chips. And then the inside cheese wasn’t fully melted, just kind of clumped together. I was pleasantly surprised to see 19 Crimes wine on the menu for the about the same price it is at the store. $ 6/​glass of decent wine? Sign me up!

I had so hoped this would be great. The menu was promising which is what got us to come here to begin with. There was no hostess when we entered so we had to wait for a moment or two not knowing if we should just seat ourself or wait. Someone finally came up greeted us and seated us. There we sat for 25 minutes while other servers walked back and forth ignoring us. Finally someone came and we were already done with the experience. We explained we had waited 25mins and the waitress laughed then apologized while laughing and said «well let me get those menus out of your way then!!!» Yea ok we will be leaving then. Maybe we might try again to see if they ever get an attentive staff.

We had high hopes. The menu looks great. We’ve been here over 15 minutes finally had to ask someone to find us a server. Not impressed so far, maybe the food will change my mind. I gave it three stars only because we have yet to actually get any food or drinks to critique. So much for our quick lunch.

This place gets a big MEH from me. Service is usually not very good, however the food isn’t bad. From day 1 this place always had a weird smell to me like someone left a moldy rag out. The smell alone was reason enough for me to stay away, oh and the crappy bartenders and service. Its not easy to get served by the bartenders unless you go there everyday or maybe if you wave your arms and jump up and down they will get the point you need a drink. This place is down the street but always a last resort for me.

Great food, great service, and fantastic management. Recently left a review in response to a bad experience, and Diane and Ryan immediately stepped up to the plate to listen and to resolve the situation.
Some highlights:
Tuesday Trivia is always great (Catalyst Productions are great guys) and Karaōke Bingo/​Wednesday is a fun time as well.
Try the wings, the pizza, and any of the nightly specials– I can promise you will not be disappointed.

Came in for lunch today. It was kind of busy. There wasn’t a designated hostess to seat you so I had to stand and wait a few minutes until a waitress seated me. It’s a nice looking place, clean… good bar. The high table tops are nice, but the chairs are pretty uncomfortable.
The waitress I had was very pleasant, friendly, and immediately made me smile. I asked for an app recommendation, and she went down the menu saying, oh that’s good. i like this, that’s good too… basically recommending everything. I ordered the combo platter. Mushrooms and onion rings were over fried and dark. Zucchini and cheese sticks were good.
I ordered a BLT. which is ONE POUND of bacon as it days on the menu. It’s a Lotta bacon, kids.
Here’s my opinion about it. If you’re going to put a pound of bacon on it, the lettuce and tomato ratio has to match.
Mayo? Too much. again, unless you have the lettuce and tomato to accompany it. Might want to get mayo on the side. Lastly, the bread DOES NOT NEED a brushing of butter, or oil, or whatever made my fingers wet and just made the sandwich kind of a soggy mess. Not to mention, you have a lot of grease already from the bacon and mayo, the wet bread is total overload. Would have been better with a toasted chiabatta bread or a hearty grain bread.
The prices were decent.
It’s not too loud to talk in there, which is nice. Lots of tv’s.
Big parking lot. Easy access to the street.

Service = 5*s. Super friendly bartender. Even though she was in the middle of a conversation with what I assume was a regular she stopped immediately and brought me a menu and took my drink order. Friendly to everyone in the bar area
Food = 3*s. The steak for the sandwich was good. The kitchen left off the cheese completely which was good for my diet but bad for my taste buds. The coke slaw tasted weird. It was diced into tiny pieces and the dressing was not tasty. Portion size was excellent.
Overall a good value for the money and a nice clean environment with available outdoor seating. Maybe change the coke slaw recipe out???

Good food. Below average bar staff, unless your a regular. Not very attentive, and didn’t seem to care about taking food & drink orders. Waited until the bar tender finished putting on her make up and checking on the regulars before she asked if I was ready. Not very friendly or talkative to new customers.

Drinks are cheap, really great specials. Food is pretty decent, nothing to write home about. The service is sub par but tolerable for the prices. Come for the cheap drinks, not the service.

Blackhawks, Burgers, and Beer!!!
How can anyone complain about that?! This place rocks. I grew up in the region and when I go home now in the «21 and over» category there is not much to do, see, or cool places to eat without intense research. Like «House of Kobe» was the only sushi place I knew of through 18, then off to college i went! On visits home, this became the place many of my friends suddenly were learning to love. I totally get it too.
White Rhino has good food. It’s a place to chill and watch a sports game. My favorite memory here is from my pre-​yelp years actually… I was watching a Blackhawks game with my friends and family. We are a hockey lovin’ crowd and the Blackhawks won (heck yeah, they are awesome!). White Rhino had an autographed jersey and was collecting $ 5 a ticket for a drawing to win the prize. My friend’s ticket was drawn. He still wears the jersey today and feels like a champ. It’s so awesome.
I always remember that day, that ticket raffle, the food, the company we shared the experience with, the Blackhawks victory, and the happy times! We keep growing up more and more, but some memories stay fresh with us. Friends are like stars in the sky, we don’t always see them anymore as we all move around the state/​country/​world, but we don’t have to see them to know they/​we are always there! We can now «talk» on the phone about that one time (or other time) at White Rhino!
I’ll always remember my Christmas college vacations home to visit my parents and friends… Where did my friends want to eat? What did they want to do? Answer = beer, food, and the hottest Chicago sports game live on TV at the White Rhino!
I am reviewing not from a recent experience check in, but even better — from a heart felt collection of memories about 6 – 8 years ago. Thanks White Rhino! I didn’t know of Unilocal then, but I do now. The food photos look fantastic, better than my memories even. One friend always insisted on getting a burger and watching the game at White Rhino. Lol. I see those wings there in photos and am like, «Yeah, it’s time for a current visit!» My friends and i are all past the college visits home these days, but when visiting my parents, my dad & brother will certainly never decline watching the Blackhawks and eating delicious game time food.

I cant believe I like this place. I actually used to make fun of this place as I drove by (assumed it sucked). I was wrong. I have stopped in twice now out of convenience when meeting friends.
The first time I only grabbed one beer at the bar after work. The beer list isn’t bad at all. The draft list could be a little better, but they make up for it in the bottle selection. I’ve never ordered a mixed drink here but saw some tasty looking martinis going by me.
The second time I met a friend for dinner. The service was friendly and somewhat quick. He got side tracked a few times but was nice and brought everything out correctly.
I was shocked at the menu here. They literally have a ton to choose from. They even offer full dinners like steaks, fish, etc. I’m not sure how those things taste, but it was crowded on a Sunday night and everything looked really good.
I had a cobb salad with dressing on the side. It wasn’t bad. I was eating healthy and secretly wanted bread, so I think I wasn’t thrilled. It was honestly good though. My friend ordered the Philly sandwich with fries. That looked awesome! He said it was really good.
I wont hesitate at all to grab food and drinks here when meeting friends in the area. I have only been here early. I have no clue if it gets crazy later in the evening. It is a bar though, so I’m guessing it gets louder the later it gets.

One of my family favorite places to eat pizza. Especially, on Wednesday’s when pizza’s are Half Price! The spicy wings are the best in NWI. We always get great service here. I truly recommend this restaurant.
