Graebel Van Lines

Services seemed pretty easy to set up. I worked with C, the surveyor, who came out to my home and inventoried the items I wanted to move. Communication with him was easy. I did mention that I would need a shuttle service to deliver my household goods to two residences as part of my move. A few days prior to my move, L, from the Wisconsin office called to see how my packing was going. The day prior to my move, Steve, the driver called me and told me he would be there around 8 am and he was punctual. He and his partner had very nice manners. They did not however have the necessary paperwork including the bill of lading. They said that C, had mailed it overnight express via UPS but here it is more than 2 weeks since I moved and I have yet to receive any paperwork at my old residence which I am at currently until the end of November.
The estimated time of delivery of my belongings was October 26 – 28. Steve arrived on October 29 (8 days after they picked up my belongings). I had to call to find out he was not going to deliver within the estimated window I had been told when I signed the contract. He called around 7 am the day of delivery and told me he had arrived in Maryland near the first drop off but was waiting for the U-​haul store to open at 9 am. He called shortly after 9 am to say that he didn’t know what to do since there was not enough room to park his 18 wheeler. I called, L, from the Wisconsin office to let her know what was going on. She called back to say she had been calling Steve and his supervisor and was unable to reach either one since they should have set up a shuttle service the day prior. Steve finally arrived around 12pm. He rented the smallest U-​haul and had to make 2 trips to drop off items at the primary residence. They ended up breaking a snow globe with sentimental value that belonged to my mother, my couch was ripped and a bookshelf was destroyed.
I did mention again that I would need shuttle service to the second drop off point but they proceeded to bring the 18 wheeler to my apartment complex which ended up blocking the garage entrance and side street. The leasing manager had to come out to direct traffic until Steve was able to pull the truck over a little more so that he would not block the street entirely. As I was so frustrated with the events of the day and wanted them to just unload my items and go, I ended up hauling my boxes and belongings myself from the front door where Steve’s partner would leave them to go back downstairs to pick up more items. A few of my boxes containing clothes and pictures including my Elementary School yearbooks were water soaked and moldy.
This is the first time I have used a van line moving company and if this is how they all are like, I will never use another van line company again! I could have done better renting a large U-​haul and hiring a bunch of men to drive the truck from Minnesota to Maryland and unload the truck for me or I could have driven the truck myself! I’m sad to say that I won’t be using Graebel or referring anyone to use this company. I was appalled at the level of incompetence I experienced. I felt like I communicated as much as I could on what services I needed but for the amount of money I paid, the performance was surely lacking to say the least.

I made an appointment for a moving estimate about 2 weeks ago. The company sent me a confirmation. On the day that the guy is supposed to come to do the estimate, he did not show up. After 20 mins of the scheduled appt time, which was 3pm, I called the company and they said he must just be running late with his previous appointment. I asked if they could give him a call and they said yes. I did not hear anything from them. I waited for another 15 mins and called the company. The lady on the phone told me that he could not come because of his previous appointment and he needed to reschedule. I understand things happen but I would expect a more responsible person to do my estimate. At least, give me a call at 3pm when you know you can’t be here on time and need to reschedule the appointment. In my opinion, if you can’t be responsible when doing a moving estimate, and you can’t be on time, you probably can’t be a good mover. I wish I read the previous review by Nathan. I am on a schedule and I have a full time job. I can’t sit at home and wait for someone not showing up.

They called 5 days before my move and tried to reschedule for a month later, when I told him I had to be out by the day we had agreed on he laughed at me and said not with us, then hung up. Don’t trust them if you are on a schedule.
