$ 40/person for an hour ride. The guides won’t gallop if you have youngster in your group but they’ll do a mean trot. Smelly, but really fun experience if you want a break from the lake!

Once again, disregard the map, it’s WAY off, follow 28 to Uncas. My new wife and I were hanging out up north and trying to think of things to do, and she brought up the idea of going on a horseback ride. We got up to the ADK right after labor day, so it was nice and quiet, and when we pulled up no one else was there. The woman who helped us and ended up taking us on the ride, Kristen, was very nice and let us know that we could take an hour and a half or a 2.5 hour tour. We decided on the first one, and off we went. She picked out our horses, gave us a quick overview, and we were on our way. The trails were very nice and quiet, the horses well behaved(although my old lady’s horse could sense her nervousness and was messing with her I think), and we actually saw a little wildlife too. We got some interesting stories about some wolves that had moved back into the area, as well as a little history, and it smelled of balsam from time to time — it’s hard to describe actual balsam, it’s nothing like a Yankee Candle or other reproduced scents. It smells like trees, and is amazing. Overall a very nice, relaxed ride(although I almost lost my sunglasses during a quick trot), and the guide was helpful and informative. Consider stopping by if you’re looking for something relaxing and a bit different.
