LOVE this place. Great German food. The Jaeger Schnitzel is the bomb. And big. The sides. The beer. The Futbol(soccer) as well. Great place to schnitzeled. Noise level depends on whether I’m there or not.

We were really excited to try Schnitzel Garten. My hub loves German food and we haven’t had it in awhile. There really aren’t too many German restaurants anymore. We arrived a little later on a Saturday afternoon and the place was empty save for one family in the corner but we stood there for several minutes… no one greeted us, so we grabbed a menu and sat down. Another 10 minutes later the waitress showed up and informed us that we had the«wrong menus» and handed us a different one. We decided to order one entrée and two apps so we could try different things from the menu. It took forever to get our food. When it finally arrived at our table they didn’t give us an extra plate. The curry wurst was too coarse and was overly seasoned such that we burped garlic for the rest of the day(sorry for the graphic image). The spaetzle was served lukewarm and was in dire need of seasoning, but had perfect texture.(Could have used a butter or pan sauce.) The pretzel was sliced and grilled, however, you only get one half. It was not dense enough and lacked flavor. The fries were the best part of the meal. My hub commented that this was not a genuine German dining experience. The flavor profiles did not match the $ 25.00 we spent on lunch. I doubt we will be returning because, as the German’s say, «man ist, was man isst.»

Great seating outside. Nice German music. GET dessert… the Apple Struesal [?sp] as you can easily share. Delicious to say the least. We had the sausage sampler for 2 and you get Brat, Paprika, Beef and veal made local just for them. Great variety of tastes. The pork Shank is to die for… pork on steroids and yummy. Our waitress was a blast.

Had a wonderful meal at Schnitzel Garten. My husband ordered the pork shank with dumplings and beer gravy and it was delicious. He was very happy to see they had German dumplings now. The portion was so large that it easily makes two meals. I had the Weinerschnitzel, Vienna style and again the portion was huge. The schnitzel was prepared perfectly and came with a yummy cucumber salad. I ordered the mashed potatoes but would have preferred spätzle with gravy or bratkartofel. Will be going back very soon to try some of the other items on the menu.

My friend and I stopped in for the first time a couple nights ago. I had never had German food before so I thought it would be a fun place to check out. I had the Jäger Schnitzel with an incredible mushroom gravy. This gravy is good enough to eat by itself but it was the perfect compliment to my HUGE piece of pork schnitzel. I had the cucumber salad and spatzel as my sides. The spatzel was good but OHMYWORD, the cucumber salad was out of this world! Seriously I could eat that every single day. So, yes it’s safe to say I am a fan of German food. But one of the best parts of our meal was our fabulous waitress Georginne. So fun and walked us through the whole meal which was much appreciated by two newbies. I am already looking forward to my next visit!

Husband loves their schnitzel. His favorite food and one you can’t really find anywhere else in Boise. Tucked away a bit far from everything but nice décor and they have a small store that they sell their delicious mustard. Must try. Price tag is hefty but you can’t find this kind of food anywhere in Boise. Go and give it a go

Food was wonderful, service was good… Only bad thing is the price of the bier(beer). $ 15 for a litre(33 oz), so when four diners have two beers each… you’re into the beverage alone for $ 120 plus tax & tip… Overall give 4 stars but if beverages were more reasonable, they would get 5 stars.

By far the closest thing I’ve had to being in Germany. The food is amazing. The service is wonderful. The beer and wine selection is spot on. I’ve come here twice. And both times I had to stop myself from eating it all so I could have left overs.

A fun place to add a new twist to the Boise food scene! My prior exposure to German/Bavarian food was limited to sausages and potato dishes, so I was not sure what to order. Our waitress(a friendly Bavarian transplant, complete with a charming accent) was happy to discuss the menu and make recommendations. She was very patient with our large group and helped us navigate the menu. I ended up ordering the schnitzel with onion spätzle. When the plate arrived, I had fun singing the line about«schnitzel with noodles» from«The Sound of Music» in my head, and the food was very homey. The schnitzel portion was generous and the breaking was thin and crisp. The spätzle dumplings were chewy, a nice textural foil to the fried schnitzel. The plate felt like it could have used something light to offset all the heavy fare, though, but I guess that’s just German food. The restaurant had long wooden benches, which added to the German feeling, as did the live music – an accordion player! I don’t drink, but those who do seemed to really enjoy the gigantic steins of German brew. This was an interesting place to have a meal and it made for a fun experience. I don’t think I’d go often, but it’s an entertaining, different option for an occasional evening out.

Must eat here if anyone comes to Boise Idaho. This was my first time eating here, and I was very impress with the food. The customers service is excellent. I would come here again and again. This the best place for German food!

If you’ve ever had REAL German food and want to mirror the taste this is the spot to go. The Jaeger Schnitzel, Curry Wurst, Bratwurst and the Bacon Cheese Schnitzel were amazing. Also had a Radler and it was just as good as when I was in Germany. We spoke to the waitress and they serve customers the way they would in Germany. Once the food is ready they will bring it out, so don’t expect your entire table to have their food at the same time. Along with this when your ready for the bill ensure you ask for it since that’s the way it’s done in Germany. One more thing if you really want the feel of Germany if the place is packed ask to be seated with another group of any openings are available. There was many times this happened to my girlfriend and I while in Germany. Overall great restaurant and you will not be disappointed.

The food was delicious. Everything is homemade to order. I had the Jäger Schnitzel with spaetzle it was hot from the kitchen and tender. The spaetzle was perfect as the side. I had their plum dumpling for dessert and that alone is worth the visit. The staff was friendly and the owner was charming.

I had the pork shank with dumplings and gravy. Ron had the jaeger schnitzel with mashed potatoes. Presentation was very nice. The first bites were wonderful. As i got into the shank, it was apparent it was warmed up in a microwave and could have used further roasting in the oven. The gravy was very good as were the dumplings. There was plenty to take home to which i asked for extra gravy to finish in my oven. The schnitzel was very tasting with a nice light and crunchy breading. The mushroom gravy was very earthy. I would return to try some other dishes

This was our first time coming here. Based on previous reviews we expected it to be hard to find, but it wasn’t. We were seated quickly and drinks ordered which arrived pretty quick. We had looked over the menu online ahead of time so we had a good idea of what we wanted to order. We started with a pretzel and the sweet mustard was quite good. We put our order in, but I was quite irked that the website prices were not the same as the actual menu prices, even though the website was basically a scanned copy of the menu. The weiner schnitzel was listed for $ 13 online but was actually $ 18 on the restaurant menu. I went back to double check that I hadn’t made a mistake and I had not. Online had it as $ 13. But we came to try that and the spätzel so we went with it. The food took quite some time to arrive. From the time we ordered to the time the food came it was close to 30 mins. Good thing we had had that pretzel. The food was alright. Never having had either dish before we didn’t have anything to compare it to. But neither me nor my hubs loved what we had. The portions were huge though so if we had liked it better we would’ve loved it for lunch the next day kind of thing. But being that it was just alright… we may or may not eat the leftovers. I opted out of the cucumber salad and went with the garden salad instead. That was delicious. Really good dressing. The spätzel was quite heavy. I had the chicken weiner schnitzel. The chicken tasted somewhat bland and relied too much on the gravy for flavor. Our waitress was good but she had nearly every table to attend to so was quite busy. From the prev reviews I was expecting no ambiance but I was fine with the décor and interior. Majority of the seating consisted of large wooden picnic type tables and we actually shared a table with a family of 4 we didn’t know but that wasn’t too bad. Overall we were happy to have tried a new place. But more for the fact that we stepped out of our comfort zone than how happy we were overall. Will we go back? Probably not. The prices were misleading and a soda was $ 3.50. Really? We spent $ 48 for the two of us for food that was just alright. So next time we’ll probably skip it. Oh but the live accordion music was fun.

I’ve enjoyed German food from this establishment both dine-in and take-out. Dad and I absolutely love the food. The schnitzel is a very generous portion of thin-pounded and fried meat. Can’t go wrong there. And it’s accompanied by the most sublime mushroom gravy. It’s so good. SO. GOOD. Portions are so generous that we may split the schnitzel entrée next time. The spaetzle is delightful, as is the cheese version. Dad also enjoyed the beet salad. We aren’t cucumber fans, so we did not try that salad. The building is easy to find, but the restaurant isn’t. There’s no way to tell from the parking lot exactly how to get there… if you even make it to the parking lot. It’s pretty tricky. Definitely call to get assistance instead of driving yourself nuts looking. This is a place to visit or order take-out from when you have plenty of time on your hands. Don’t attempt it when you’re in a hurry. There’s not much in the way of ambiance, especially for the prices they charge. Patio diners are seated on picnic tables. Speaking of pricing, check around(i.e. Entertainment book) for coupons and special offers.

Had this place on my bookmarks for a while, pretty high expectations… Went as a couple, which I now know is not ideal for this family style joint. It’s kind of difficult to locate, the arrow towards the door is very small, which is around the corner of where you park. The menu will make you drool, such exciting choices, you will take a long time to decide. Probably a good idea to order a pretzel while you search. BUT not the cheese pretzel, it’s store bought shredded cheese melted on top halfway, perhaps a traditional style, but it kind of sucked. I went all in for a schnitzel with egg, sardine, and capers. So stoked! Unfortunately it was dry and overcooked. $ 21, gone! The pork and potato dumplings were very home cooked, grandma’s kitchen style, brought me back to my old kitchen table. This is the highlight of our experience. Three stars for half decent meals, and the price. These meals come in baskets, no plates for sharing, bench seats, and minimal atmosphere. Why is this a problem? $ 98 after tip for two people!!! Two pretzels, sangria(so-so), smoked beer(!), two meals, and dessert. This has to be the largest rip in Idaho.

Georgina was my waitress, very nice, well she is German and so am I so naturally I liked it there in the beer garden. They got all the good beers on draft, I wish they had a happy hour. .it’s gonna be tough to talk my coworkers into paying 7 bucks for a beer after work. I had the Wiener Schnitzel which was cooked perfectly. I also grid their pretzels and Weisswurst, the pretzel was nice and crispy outside and soft inside. The flavor was ok but I have a higher standard since I make my own. The weisswurst however was too dense the flavor was ok. I think they need to tell their butcher to incorporate more ice.

If you haven’t been, go. Went with a couple of other folks — collectively did the pretzel basket, jäger schnitzel, brats, sauerkraut, and mashed potatoes, as well as some beer. No complaints on the food — great schnitzel, great brats, great beer(available in your choice of .5l, 1l, or DASBEERBOOT) — several German beers on tap. Smaller spot, only a few tables(if you’re planning on about 6 or more, call and get a reservation). The location oozes more of the standard«Eagle faux-Tuscan» vibe than the dark tavern feel of, e.g., Die Bierstube in Seattle, but well-placed décor(and the night we were there, the accordion player) set the German setting quite well. Service was a bit on the slower side, but nothing unbearable and still very friendly — I mean, beer and accordion music, you can wait a couple extra minutes for the tab to get resolved… Will definitely go again. ..

Wow! I feel like I just got off the plane in Germany. The food definitely transported me back to fond food memories of the last time I was there. We started out with a pretzel and, let me say, just trust me and order one. We actually ordered one to go also. For dinner I had one of the specials– Rheinische Hax’n. It was a braised pork shank that was incredibly tender and flavorful. It was served with 2 dumplings that I would describe as(delicious) A German Thanksgiving in a ball. It was quite tasty. And as tasty as mine was, my husband’s ragout was even better. Now for the apple strudel. It was yummy. So with the good comes the bad. The parking sucks. It was in the corner of a business complex that is only accessible by foot. So, for a quick synopsis, eat here! Eat here a lot. We want to keep this authentic German restaurant open.

The Yager schnitzel was amazing. The mushroom sauce on top was so good that we asked for a container to take home. They gave us a container. The owner ran restaurants in Germany; this is the only authentic German restaurant in the area. Staff was friendly and live music was great. I’ll for sure be back.
