After hearing everyone rave about Charlie’s Diner, I knew I had to try it! I went for a late breakfast today and it was surprisingly busy for a Monday morning. The staff was very friendly. I was a bit confused at first because I wasn’t greeted promptly at all, but a nice lady came and let me know you just sit where ever you want. I got the eggs benedict and my friend got pancakes with sausage. The eggs benedict was good but a little plain, nothing a little pepper and hot sauce couldn’t fix. My friend LOVED the pancakes!!! Over all its definitely worth visiting! I will definitely be heading back soon!

The food and service was excellent, we sat on the patio, however the first thjng I noticed was mold under the plastic of the menu which concerned me. I went in to use the restrooms and was not up to par with the food, with workers sitting at the tables talking, it was run down and awkward.

We had a great breakfast, the eggs were cooked perfectly, and the homemade cinnamon french toast was phenomenal! ! Would highly recommend for a great breakfast. They were quick and courteous, and kept the coffee coming.

Let me start by saying I’ve been to charlies before for breakfast. That charlies is really good, attentive service, good food, clean inviting atmosphere. Last night my wife and mother in law went in for dinner, a totally different beast. We came in at 515, a few people were on the patio and one family inside, at dimmer time this was very confusing. We came in the back way and the sign for«section closed» was sitting in the back. On the way up to the front the floor was extremely dirty, not«oh a wrapper» more like«look some fries, part of a burger, and tons of wrappers and napkins.» I’ve never seen a floor like that. We got to front and no waitress to greet us or even visible, we decided to sit in main area. A few minutes later the waitress came and dropped off 2 menus and got our water order, she said she would bring another menu. My wife went to the bathroom and a minute later came out which was when the waitress came out and put down third menu. «Are you guys ready or do you need more time,» she just brought third menu why would she think we were ready. When we finally were ready my wife ordered a grilled chicken Ceasars with rasp vinagrette, my mom in law ordered a lucy with NOCHEESE(very important) and got a salad with it. Waitress seemed bothered they wanted different dressings from what she mentioned, said«will have to check.» Food took awhile because I got the chick I’m a basket. When it came out there was no chicken on salad, «maybe he mixed it in» the waitress said, nope none in there at all. My wife said«it’s ok» and we were trying to make a movie so she opted to not have them make chicken then. My mom in law got through one part of sandwhich and noticed the other parts had cheese on it, she couldn’t taste any in first half but wasn’t sure if it was in there or not. When we finally got done eating the waitress had dissappear again, my wife had to walk around and find her for check and box. When we brought up the fact of no chicken and the cheese which was very evident on other halves she just said«oh sorry.» Food allergies are big things and cooks should be more careful if customers order items without stuff. My chick in basket was good but the pieces were pretty small. One odd comment was when I asked if the chicken was soaked in honey or not I was informed it arrived to them honey dipped coating, implying they don’t actually make the chicken there. If it was a busy day and things were crazy I would understand this but at 530 at night and an empty restaurant there is no excuse for spoons under tables, incorrect food and sloooow service. Maybe charlies is more a breakfast joint but I can’t recommend it in the evening time.

Charlie’s is just ok. The food isn’t anything to write home about. The interior of this restaurant is awful. Dining area half remodeled. Peeling wallpaper. No Trim on wainscoting. The little tiki bar canopy doesn’t make any sense. For god sakes fix the stairs that are on the front porch. Extremely steep, too shallow and I’m guessing not to code. Lastly fix the menus. You need a flashlight or magic decoder ring to read them.

To start, Charlie’s is a dinner in a small town, it’s about it, but that’s the charm. The place was hoping today, lots of locals. The food is average, but the homemade bread is great! It just what you want from this type of town, comfortable. I’ve been here several times, and have never been unhappy. Good little everyday place.

Classic small town diner with lots of options on hue he menu. Walk in and take any seat, just like home. Can’t go wrong with the Rueben, Friday’s Fish Fry, or any breakfast item at any time of the day.

I really like this place, but more for the ambience than the food, which is solid but unspectacular. The waitresses and the customers have an incredible, intimate rapport, which makes one feel as if you are having breakfast with an extended family. As for the food, it’s a solid place for breakfast. The cinnamon bread toast is definitely the way to go… really good!

Absolutely rude, inefficient, belligerent staff. We were a large group a few days ago with two elderly people among our group of seven and although there were plenty of tables available they made us wait for at least half an hour while they cleaned off lots of smaller tables instead of seating us and cleaning off a larger table. It was extremely bad customer service and I can assure you I will never go back.

Burger was a shit patty. Frozen. Tasted like bad meat … The Mrs’s took one bite and spit it out … Wallpaper coming down in side the place … Not impressed. They didn’t charge us, but snatched our fries as we were still eating … I was willing to pay for what we ate but next time u put bacon on shit … Please just call it a shit patty

Every time I visit the WNY area, Charlie’s seem to always be my farewell breakfast. And I would get the polish omelette with the home fries on the side and a cup of coffee. The food itself is nothing spectacular and the waitresses aren’t always that attentive. But the time seem to slow down a bit as I’m enjoying the first or second cup, even more so as I sat out by the patio as the Autumn wind blows by. My love for this restaurant is completely based on reminiscity, just the idea of being able to relax and enjoy a good cup of joe before heading back to NYC and the hustle and the bustle.

Today(granted it was a Holiday) I showed up over an hour and a half before they closed. I was never greeted or seated within 3 mins, so when I sat myself I was asked to move and wait until they are ready with a different table. okay. Lets just say those folks who walked in 2 seconds before me finished their meal before I even got to order. The waitresses were obviously displeased they were working a short shift on Labor Day, but to neglect customers and have give slight attitude is unacceptable. During my order, I was asking for a «build you own omelet» to which the waitress told me «its going to be expensive if you want all that, just so you know» That was a bit of a turn off. One coffee refill, no smiles. I’m sorry for a first time visitor, I wont go back.

Had to put a review for this place… My ex and I were going here for a while… mainly getting breakfast… It was going ok… One waitress actually knew what we wanted when we got in so that was kind of personal service… She was always friendly… Well, I used to get their burgers which were very good… Homemade, came with fries, and for a nice price… I’d almost call it a secret place to get a great burger… Well on day we went in there, and I got my usual burger… I thought it looked odd when it came out but I figured it’s homemade they will different sometimes… Well as soon as I bit into it I knew something was different and wrong… The texture was completely different, and the burger tasted absolutely awful… I mean it tasted like a bunch of chemicals, or maybe even dog food… It was that bad… When the waitress came by I asked her if this was a frozen burger… She told me yes, that they no longer make homemade burgers because the price of beef was getting too expensive so the owner decided on frozen… Well I couldn’t even finish my burger it was that gross… No refund, or money off… No biggie I thought, they still serve a good breakfast… Well on one of our next visits I got breakfast and my eggs over medium… When I got them the yolks were broke, and I don’t think they could have been cooked anymore… They were completely cooked through, and well done ! Totally dry ! Well when she finally came back towards the end of our meal(I was just about done) I mentioned to her that the eggs were completely cooked through, and not how I asked… I was basically more or less letting her know the cook cooked them way off… Not trying to get a refund or anything — I liked this place for breakfast, and just wanted them to know… She replied«didn’t you complain the last time you were here about your burger?» Well, obviously that is the last time we ever visited that place again… The waitress was extremely rude… There was also another waitress that was very rude to us on another occasion… Those two are not cut out for serving positions… Maybe auto-mechanic where they could slam some wrenches around or something when they get mad… It’s too bad they had good burgers too once… MEANWAITRESSES, ANDDOGFOODFORBURGERSEQUALSONESTAR ! NOSOUPFORYOU !

You can’t help but want to like Charlie’s. It’s a throwback from the old days, the unique décor, the solid plates and mugs, the stools at the counter in the front of the restaurant, the pie case! There isn’t a thing remotely chain-ish about the place, not Dennys-like, just a real family-friendly diner. The servers are familiar each time, friendly, but not too, as they are bustling about mopping tables, serving food or two-fisted coffee pots when not cashing out customers. The food is typical(not good for you) diner fare, a pure indulgence of too much sodium, fat and too many calories, but totally reminiscent of a time before we «knew better» and if you’re hankering the foods you remember from back when, Charlie’s will not disappoint. Charlie’s homemade bread is what most folks relish and it’s better than store bought for sure. You can’t go wrong with ordering breakfast fare if you’re longing for a pile of home fries and eggs done just right. The pancakes are definitely lacking, heavy(not fluffy) and sodium-laden, and over cooked. Log Cabin syrup in plastic bottles is on each table. Pity, being so close to access to rural areas offering true maple syrup, wouldn’t that be a treat? I would not recommend ordering a salad here, silly me.(Two thumbs down, I sent it back.) If you’re looking to linger on the porch in the warmer months, you’ve found the right place to order up a fine old fashioned milkshake and watch the world go by on Main Street. Just do it on a weekday, as weekends bring long waits.

Charlie’s used to be a weekly occurrence for us. Every Friday we would make the trek with my in-laws to have fish on Friday or one of their generous breakfast specials with overcooked bread. The wait staff is genuinely pleasant and accommodating. We would look forward to going every week. The past couple of times we went, we were frankly let down. For whatever reason, the food was not up to their usual standards at all. A few of us even got sick after a meal. The breakfasts we had ordered on one occasion were way overcooked and the fish on another night was all runny. After a few weeks of this noticeable decline, we have picked another spot to frequent. It really does pain me to write this, as they have served us so well in the past. We will visit again in the future to see if they have returned to their old ways, but until then will be going elsewhere. Still is definitely the best diner around, don’t get me wrong, just not what they used to be.
