I ordered a cold lobster roll. What I was served was simply inedible. It’s been a long time since I’ve spit food out at a restaurant, but I did there. Lobster«meat» was stringy, tasteless, and mushy. After a few bites I gave up. The accompanying Cole slaw was almost a soup and equally mushy. The bartender took away my uneaten food without comment but asked if I wanted another drink. Seriously? For $ 26 I should have kept driving and stayed hungry because that’s how I still was when I left, never to return. Poor food. Poor service.

Generally I like the Tavern on 66 a lot. I’ve given them several good reviews but this evening was an exception. Our bartender/server was OK but didn’t seem«on the ball». Our food look a solid hour to come out, I mean really, it was Blue Chips and wings. This never happens when Bonnie is there. The Blue Chips were not as good as usual, neither were the wings, buffalo and jerk flavored. We had to ask Michelle to find our bartender so we could cash out, we were tired of waiting for her to show up! Not the best experience this time.

Positive: They have a nice selection of beers on tap, including a number of IPAs. Good music from a couple of very talented guitar players. Negative: A patron kept hitting on the waitress – she was obviously very uncomfortable about it – and the male bartender did nothing to intervene. Then, the intoxicated patron stumbled out of the bar and into a vehicle. When I realized he was heading for a vehicle I jumped up and followed him out, but he got into his SUV and sped out of the parking lot before I could offer to drive him home. He was clearly a regular. The staff should not have continued to serve him and/or should have taken some steps to prevent him from driving away.

Stopped in for a bite on Sunday night… one meal was a hit, the other: not at all. The smokey flavor on the wings was overwhelming, inedible, like eating out of an ashtray. Was offered fresh coffee but watched server stick her finger in the cup to see if it was even warm! When the finger coffee arrived at our table, after a detour to the kitchen(to heat it?) the glass cup was visibly filthy with lip prints on the rim = strike 3, we’re out. We had them take the coffee off the bill. We’ll consider this just one night of bad service but it will take a while for me to consider going back. Sorry for the poor review but… yuck.

We don’t get ESPN at home so we often go to this nearby bar to watch sports events. The food is decent though nothing special. Typical somewhat great pub food. Their lobster rolls are my favorite choice when available.

This is a great little local bar. The food is good and the beer selection is great! The Tavern is not afraid to put some true craft brews on tap. It is also family friendly during the day an into the evening.

What a nice place! My wife and I stopped by for lunch today. Since St Patrick’s Day is right around the corner, we both ordered their corned beef dinner. Being a wee bit Irish, I’ve had more than my share of corned beef over the years and have a good idea of what is good or not. I must say their corned beef dinner is one of the best I’ve had! The cabbage was so flavorful(yum… even an occasional caraway seed in it!) it tasted so rich like it was cooked in butter. Real carrots cooked perfectly. And the star of the show was the corned beef. It was not just over-salted boiled beef on a plate. Much of the salt had been removed but the flavor was still there. Slightly marbled with fat but not too much. Delicious! The atmosphere was comfortable. Our waitress was very friendly to everyone in the room. I heard that the tavern used to be Smokey O’Grady’s, but I think that business moved down the street and Tavern on 66(Rt 66) took that spot over. It is right next to the huge RV center if you are traveling out of East Hampton on Rt 66. They have a wide assortment of craft beers and TV’s around the bar. If the rest of their menu has as much care put into it as the corned beef, it will be well worth a road trip to check them out.
