Standard Tile East Hanover

It takes a long time to pick out tile and get the right design but these people work with you! Now it does take time so be prepared. Have your photos, sample of counter tops and cabinet. And most of all have your measurements. Tile is expensive but the sales people worked to help me mix responsible with expensive.

Watch out, happy to start, HELL in the end. Their initial service was good, but they overestimated how much tile I needed by 25% (they translated from the contractor requirements). When I did the initial appointment they said they would take back any unused boxes of tile and that I would receive everything in 1 – 2 weeks. I had contractors waiting and I didn’t get the last of my pieces until 5 weeks later. That is cost and annoyance. Later, when I went to return 2 boxes of unopened tile, they wouldn’t honor the return (and complained about me coming in the front door and not through the warehouse area, I was a customer and have never been to the warehouse). I wonder how they treat contractors and other servicers. Customers upfront, problems go around the back.

I’m on my third big project using supplies from Standard Tile. This wide-​open store has displays that let you browse floor tiles by pulling out enormous flat drawers, and check out wall tiles on huge walls that roll back and forth. Both are big improvements on the system some places use, basically big heavy boards with just a couple of pieces on each, all jammed together in a standing rack. The selection at the East Hanover store is large but thanks to that careful display construction it didn’t feel overwhelming to me.
Joey A. was a big help with finding selections, suggesting size and color options, giving me quotes in email and correcting a box of broken decorative pieces. Also threw me a small discount, thanks man.
As with every tile store I’ve found, only grout is in stock locally, every other d*mn thing has to come from far away and takes 1 – 2 weeks. Return policy here on non-​special orders is full boxes within 15 days. Which of course is impossible, construction schedules never work out that neatly. Anyhow if you have a full box you should keep that ish for repairs when something goes south three years later. Basically ya gotta treat all sales here as final, don’t kid yourself otherwise.
These guys also will arrange for shower doors and glass panels, all strictly list price and boy those prices are daunting.

Extremely friendly and helpful. I have worked with 3 different people and they are all equally knowledgeable. Not «salesy» at all. Awesome pricing and willing to work with you until you get it right. Def recommend!
