I really want to give one star because of how annoyed I am at the fact that I got delivery from here so many times and was always happy with it but this time was not fair to me at all. I ordered penne alla vodka which apparently had bacon in it. I understand some places do that but I had never ordered it before and had it that way and I don’t eat pork so being in the service industry for three plus years I know better to at least let someone know about little things like that because you never know ! The main thing here is my pizza wasn’t a pizza when I opened it the slices were cut so uneven and the sauce and cheese where«spilled» over the box and crust. I don’t think I have ever even had dominoes delivered to me this poorly back in my childhood days when that pizza was all I knew.

Great pizza and serious competitor to well known pizza establishments in New Haven. Thin crust with lots of delish toppings.

generally good pizza that is different every time. sometimes more like pepe’s, sometimes more like other basic new haven pizzas. Not sure why. The eggplant parmesan is ok, tastes egg battered, salads are good. Not sure if it deserves a 3 or 4, but we eat there a lot. Until it knocks my socks off i will do 3.

You get what you pay for. Decently priced pie for the authentic-ish pizza. Great pies, but no so great calamari.

You have to try Joey D’s. They are now and have been, since they opened, the absolute best pizza in town. The young chef, who’s there seemingly 8 days a week, always rocks my Chicken Florentine dinner… In fact, all the chefs are great. The pizza chefs seem to be passionate about what they do. It shows up in their delicious pizza, cooked to perfection. One of my many favorites, The Lighthouse Special is really something amazing! Wow! I am from the school that thinks that the pizza crust ALONE should be able to be enjoyed before the delicious toppings are added. No thin cracker crusts, no tasteless cardboard crusts, no crusts burnt beyond recognition. These guys don’t make cinder pies like another well-known New Haven establishment with their seemingly 1500 degree ovens. Joey D’s…Thanks for another great meal with great service.

The light house special is one of the best pizzas I have had in CT, only 4 stars because the dough is not that great next day cold

My first time at joey d, i had a slice of cheese pizza. i really liked the sauce more than the other pizza places. i wondered if they could make a decent meatball grinder, so i went back a second time. mtball grndr was $ 8 i got 1 ¾ meatballs on a roll. rip off. i cut the ¾ meatball in half and moved it over so I had some meat to go with the bread. they did cut one meat ball in half on one side and placed. next to.each other. There was very little sauce on it. It was the sauce that i came back for. but there was almost no sauce on grinder. The meatball was dry. Not a juicy meatball and it had no sauce to help it out. I did not like the taste of the meatballs. The roll… they need a better roll. i left regretting driving 8 miles for a lousy meatball grinder. Joey you can do better… man, get some better meatballs and rolls. i wont be back.

Amazing pizza, probably as good as any of the big names in the New Haven area. I had a white pizza, forgot the name, but it had gorgonzola, garlic, mushrooms, and bacon. Absolutely perfect from the crust to the cheese to the toppings. So good. The delivery was slow, and the guy didn’t have a GPS, which led to some confusion — but it was worth the wait(and thankfully, the pizza was still hot). Try it, you won’t be disappointed.

Old school New Haven style apizza and subs. Nothing fancy just good traditional Italian food. Garlic salt on the fries and Foxon Park soda in the fridge.

Nice pizza. The pizza reminds me a little of Grand Apizza pizza which is slightly thick, sloppy, and slightly charred. I liked it. The inside is a bit chaotic with lots of people running all over the place. When I visited I encountered a combination of people who I’m guessing were employees, family members, and friends of the family. 8 people in total were jam packed behind the counter. Although they do have a couple tables on the inside, they’re mostly a take-out pizzeria serving the Morris Cove area. Prices are OK and they have reasonable Italian dinners(in generous portions).

They must know that they would not survive in this neighborhood unless they were damn good! Everything I’ve tried has been great! But a bottle of wine across the street and sit outside with yummyness!

Joey’s is a welcome and long overdue addition to Morris Cove. It doesn’t aim to be the next boutique incarnation of pizza as it was prepared and served in 1925, nor should it be judged on that criteria. Joey D’s will earn its merit in the spirit of those who grew up Italian in the near yesterday, not as a depression-era émigré or protégé. Joey’s may be the only place in New Haven where you will enjoy generous toppings on consciously crafted specialty pizzas(not apizza, read the sign) which are nearly overwhelming in the portions Joey calls«Small». New Haveners: The next time you visit Lighthouse Point, skip the trip back downtown and eat your Joey’s at the beach.
