I have been trying to get Brocolli Rabe bread for ever. I called there every week for 6 weeks and they never «had any left». I decided to call on wed morning for 4 loaves of bread for Saturday and the guy told me…“we have no sausage and we wont get any till after the holidays” seriously??? You live in East Haven. Longini’s sausage is down the street, get in your car and go get some… Then the little prick hung up in my face.
Never again! Anielos is down the street!

This was my first visit. There is nothing fancy about this place at all. The display cases and freezers block any view into the kitchen. There is no décor to speak of. There was a young guy working alone in the store today. I told him that I wanted to buy some meatballs and he said they usually only have them during the week. But he looked inside one of the freezers and pulled a meatball out of a box, with his bare hand (no glove!). Eh… I ordered 5 meatballs ($ 1.50/each, and each is smaller than an ice cream scoop). I also ordered fresh fettuccine (2lbs) and I got 2 jars of marinara sauce, two loaves of garlic bread with mozzarella, and some pastini for future soup that I plan to make. My order came to around $ 42 in total. When I prepared my meal at home tonight, it was really good. So aside from the lame décor and the kid not using a glove I would go back again. Pricey, but easy to prepare for dinner.

I just found this gem on Unilocal and decided to check it out for dinner tonight. Boy am I happy I did! I left with a number of items, but specifically for dinner my boyfriend and I had the meatballs, fresh pasta, and their homemade marinara sauce. Oh my god! Hands down the best meatballs I’ve had in a while! And the sauce tasted just like old school Italian sauce. Delicious! Excellent pasta too that is made fresh everyday and also they have nicely wrapped dried pasta as well. Awesome find!

There is nothing like fresh pasta, and Mama Del’s gets it right. The shop is family run, clean and friendly. Their pastas are wonderful; my daughter loves their spinach angel hair, some of my favorites are their ravioli; everything from lobster to sausage w/​broccoli rabe, heart shaped for Valentine’s day and even pumpkin in the fall! There is a take out and catering menu; we order lunch from here at work sometimes and are never disappointed, you won’t be either!

Absolutely the best stuffed bread I’ve ever had. Better than any other Italian market in greater New Haven, and better than anything I’ve had in NYC or Boston. Their homemade pasta is also very good.
