The pastries are always fresh, each one I’ve tried has never disappoint! I recommend the tiramisu, the strawberry and cream cake, also the chocolate covered strawberries!

YUMMY! I love stopping by chapelure to pick up some buns! A little on the pricey side, but their baked goods are probably some of the best in town. I’m not crazy about their drinks, but i definitely recommend any of the breads and the cream puffs!

The wifi here is garbage especially for a PC. I’ve asked the staff to fix the issue over the course of at least 6 months and nothing has been done. I like the food here but I can never get anything done. The new Chapelure has significantly better wifi.

I love this bakery! I dropped in on a whim because of their close proximity to my physical therapy place, and I was delighted. I love coming here for the fruit tart, but my favorite is the croissant. They have the best croissants, the texture is great, they’re not just the soft, mushy kind you get at the grocery store or Starbucks. The best thing about this bakery is that it’s French and Korean inspired, so you can try something new, like one of my favorites, the yummy(and cheap) soboro bread. Definitely worth stopping by.

Having moved to Texas over a year ago, I returned for the holidays and I was really looking forward to visiting my favorite café/pastry place in Lansing. To our dismay, my mother and I ordered a hot chocolate and a mango chiller that were both unsatisfactory. The barista(she’s not the only Chapelure employee to have done this in the past) just left the spout sticking inside the steaming cup when she was making my hot chocolate. Properly trained baristas know to stretch the milk with air while holding the cup up to the spout at a tilted angle. That gives the milk that light, half-foamy consistency. Leaving the cup sitting on the steamer with the spout in just burns the milk. The guy who made the chiller/smoothie neglected to put a little bit of hot water into it while blending the ice, thus making the consistency not so good. Also, it made the drink extremely hard to pour into the cup. I felt like saying something as I watched him struggle to pour but I held my tongue. I really wanted to give this a 2-star review because my experience was not«A-OK» as Unilocal calls a 3-star review. However, I threw in the extra one for the nostalgic value. Please train better baristas.

Love this hidden gem I found! This small café/bakery is hidden in a strip of restaurants just east of MSU. I wish more people knew about this place because it seriously has won my heart over. I sadly am gluten-free so I have been unable to try their delicious pastries they have on display but from what other people have said about them they look as good as people have said they taste! I have only been their twice and this is officially going to be my new spot to do homework and unwind with a nice warm latte. They first time I got a caramel latte and the second I got a vanilla latte. Both times I was not dissappointed. You can just tell they are made with the proper ingredients that are good quality and you get what you pay for. Definitely check out the Hooked App because Chapelure has certain coupons you can use such as get a $ 1 off a specialty drink, $ 1 off a fruit chiller, or even 50% off a pastry sometimes! Check this place out and you will not be dissappointed! Again you get what you pay for so it’s worth the little extra money you spend to get a good quality drink and pastry for sure. Hands down beats Starbucks any day of the week.

Best dessert stop in EL/Lansing. I love this place! All the treats are so tasty, creative and fresh. I recommend trying the fruit options over the more decadent choices — they excel in that area. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. It’s refreshing in a town with terrible customer service from college students. The space is modern and clean but can get busy depending on the time of day. Other reviewers have mentioned that the treats/cakes/pastries are overpriced considering portion size, but the quality is SO good that I think the prices are entirely justified.

Love coming to this place all the time. Has a classic feel to it and though I’m not much of a pastry person, I bring my friends here a lot and they love the pastries. I just really enjoy their coffee and tea a lot, haven’t found another spot in East Lansing that can compare with the flavor, overall prices, and atmosphere that come with Chapelure. Definitely need to go there if you live in Lansing area or are visiting.

The coffee is decent, cake is tasty. But the cake is much overpriced!!! Much overpriced!!! A little slice, more than 5 bucks! One more suggestion, if employees could make coffee pictures on the top of coffee, especially in the white mugs, that would make the whole store much fancier.

As a french girl I can say that croissants are really good! Pastries are also awsome. I really enjoyed taking a french breakfast here!

Some of the best pastries in the area. Low key ambiance. Sometimes they are out of what I want and the prices can be high, but you’re getting what you pay for. Highly recommend the cream puffs and the mango mousse cake.

I dropped by this place while I was in the area for business. After looking at the pictures, I was really excited to try some of the pastries. When I walked into the café it reminded me a of coffee houses I used to frequent in Korea. It was clean and looked like a good place to congregate, snack, study or all three. They focus on Asian and French pastries, which is an amazing combination. Unfortunately, the selection was smaller I expected. It may have been because I came in around 3pm or I may have caught them on an off day, but the pastries fell flat for me. I had some macarons and a butter croissant and both were disappointing. I have had fresh macs and also tried Costco macs, and these one tasted like Costco(not bad, but not good). The croissant was the strangest one I have ever eaten because is was literally flat. The taste was on point, but the texture was off and the skin was a bit soggy. Overall, I would be wiling to try this place again, but I would not go out of my way to do so.

Seriously delicious! Stopped by late on a Saturday afternoon for some dessert. Many of the shelves in the case were without pastries(snapped up by appreciative customers earlier in the day, no doubt), but there were still some delectable treats left. My wife had the Mango Chiffon cake, and I the Strawberry Shortcake. Both were, without a doubt, some of the tastiest cakes we have ever had the pleasure of eating. Definitely worth the trip!

This is a totally under-rated, under-visited Korean and French fusion bakery by Unilocalers in East Lansing! I have always loved coming here to grab their on-the-go bakery items and drinks. By the time I came around 4 pm, the to-go bakery items were pretty much out. In the past I really enjoyed the custard filled danishes and their versions of Chinese pineapple baos. This time I ordered the vanilla tea latte(delicious!) and a green tea macaroon(delicious!). My friend ordered the strawberry chocolate cake, which she totally killed in a few minutes, and a coffee. There is a huge display of cakes and other delicacies and you can order fresh fruit cakes to carry out as well. The prices are on the higher side, but it’s definitely worth the experience if you are looking for a beyond-your-average-bakery experience. There is free wi-fi and in the summer, they used to serve shaved ice desserts. The sign in the doorway guarantees that each item was made in-shop the morning of.

Basically Starbucks. I know a lot of people rave about Chapelure, but here’s a quick test– do you know what a cappuccino is? Because Chapelure doesn’t. Oh you can order a cappuccino, but they’re going to serve you drip coffee with some stuff poured in it, just like Starbucks. That’s not cappuccino. The pastries and cakes are also merely okay. I go nuts for croissants, I’ve driven an hour for a croissant, Chapelure’s croissant is again basically Starbucks. It makes me sad that people go to places like this and think they’re participating in high-end coffee shop culture– you’re being served inferior products at inflated costs, like anything else. It’s not a bad place to meet someone, but I’m going to be ordering tea… Which is brewed in paper bags. Insert the sound of me sighing. You can’t even manage looseleaf tea?

Gem! gem! gem! gem! The best croissants I have ever had. Even better than in Paris! We have been dedicated customers for over 2 years. Great rewards card offering. Friendly knowledgeable staff. Great service. Comfy coffee-house vibe. Every one of their products has exceeded expectations. Pastries never too sweet. Mousse cakes impossibly light and artistic. Just delightful! Now they are open on SUNDAY!

The luxury of Paris with the convenience of Okemos. From café to pastry, this place is the best! The attentive service greets you as swiftly as the heavenly scents of bakery and coffee. A lovely spot to linger or the perfect grab and go with much more than a touch of class! Go, enjoy, trust me.

If a fruit tart and a box of macarons can survive a 1.5 hour commute from lansing to detroit, then a tumble out of a car seat, and then another tumble off some suitcases onto the floor… and STILL taste good, then the bakery from which said fruit tart and macarons deserves 5 stars!!! Also the best latte in Lansing, according to the bf.

I’ve heard so many good things about this place recently had to check it out. It was a tough decision trying to figure out what to get, everything looked delicious. They have cakes, Cannoli’s, fruit tarts, strawberry shortcake, croissants, and other baked goods. They even have quiche and sandwiches. I got the blueberry Danish. It was flaky, not too sweet, it was perfect. I also tried the white chocolate pumpkin and Nutella macaron. They were some of the best ones I’ve ever had. The place was packed it wasn’t noisy though. There many college students in their studying and drinking coffee.

This is a lovely little place with high quality and creative desserts. Good: –coffee –cannoli Great: –mango smoothie –quiche Fabulous: –croissant I have not tried the mousse or the macaroons yet, but they are on my list. Their full cakes seem beautiful and tasty, but expensive. You can also buy individual pieces of cake. As a student, this is a pretty good place to study. There is usually an open table or two. As this is a place made for lingering, it seems, I have felt no ill will working on a laptop there. Unfortunately, there are limited plugs(and those that exist do not all reliably work) and while I have never checked to see about a free refill policy, at worst there isn’t one and at best you would need to bother a member of the staff to refill your drink. Not the most conducive to working long hours on a budget. Free wifi!
