Hobby Lobby is the type of store that has great stuff, but I hate myself every time I shop there. I only go in if absolutely necessary and am in a pinch. It can’t be denied that their selection, prices, and quality are above any other local options available. However, if I ever need to interact with the staff, it’s a dismal experience. I’m not the typical hobbyist that might shop at the Lobby. It’s fair to say that I’m not the typical person who might shop at any hobby store. But I do. I’ve been into hobbies of various sorts for over 30 years. So I know what I’m doing, and I spend my resources on what I like. That’s why it’s frustrating when the staff treats me like some shady criminal whenever I need assistance with a transaction. Once, it was an item that didn’t have a price tag, but I was purchasing an exact same item in a different color that did have the price tag(a $ 3 paint). Call the manager. Another time, returning an item that I didn’t realize was open/defective when I purchased it. It was $ 1.25. Call the manager AND snark the attitude. WTH? Ugh. If a store is willing to alienate a customer, for whatever bias, over less than a $ 2.00 item, what does that say about the culture of that establishment? Yeah. Only when I have to, and I hate every minute of it. :(
