Healthtrax Fitness & Wellness At E Longmeadow

I’ve been a member since 2000. Overall the east longmeadow facility is well run. Gym has most any equipment you might want and it’s in working order. I’d say the fee is reasonable to average considering the pool is heated in the winter. Front desk workers are all very friendly. Many of the members have been going here for years and it’s a friendly environment. Facility is kept clean. There are racquetball courts available. Don’t know what else I need from a gym they have it.

I went to Healthtrax once, for five minutes and was denied access to the facilities. I had received a two week trial pass from a family friend and had decided to use it while I was visitng home for the holidays.
While chatting with the young man at the counter, another employee approached me and told me I was not eligible for the trial. Since I was not «sincerely interested» in a membership due to being a graduate student home for a short time. In her words, «we don’t want a bunch of kids home from college hogging the machines that our members pay for.» I contested, saying that anyone who uses the trial pass is «hogging the machines» and being reduced to «a kid» was most definitely insulting. There was no apology, and I was not even allowed to speak to the manager. So I left, seething, and WITHOUT the pass I had gone there with! I couldn’t even return it to my friend who had given it to me for someone else to use.
So, in short, if you want to try out Healthtrax, lie about your interest level. They have unwritten criteria for who is allowed a free trial. I felt discriminated against because of my age and completely disrespected. I will NEVER recommend this facility over any other gym in the greater Springfield area. If that is how the employees treat young people, would anyone really want to bring their family there?

This gym is close enough to me that I can use it at lunch. I never have a problem getting a cardio machine (elliptical, treadmill, etc). They have a sign up system that some even use. Plenty of TV’s with headphone plug-​ins at the machine.
Circuit machines: Again, pretty standard, in good shape (not sure why some say they are falling apart, I use them regularly and they work great).
Free-​weight room: Have to agree, stuck in a «smaller» downstairs room. With more than 5 people it gets a little crowded. Would like to see improvement here.
Classes: I LOVE the classes (Group Power, Core, and Interval). But the times are tough. Often during the work day. This is great for many, but they NEED more classes after work (530 and later). I’m sorry, I can’t do the 515AM classes. But the classes themselves are great!
HealthTrax is expensive. But I’ve found the trainers to be attentive. The support staff is friendly. Overall it’s one of the better options in my immediate area (don’t get me started on Planet Fitness in Enfield).

The worst gym I’ve ever been too. The staff has no idea what they are doing. They spend most of their time talking and joking around. The equipment is so worn and outdated for the price you pay to work out here it should be state of the art. It’s more like a social club for the elderly than a serious gym. The weight room is packed into this tiny little basement room where you can hardly move around in. What kind of gym sells soda in their cooler? Healthtrax does. I paid month to month and upon canceling I was told I joined for 11 months and couldn’t cancel. Obviously I was swindled during the sign up as the guy wrote out the contract and said sign here. If your serious about working out don’t go here. Unless you like reading the paper, talking, and watching tv.

Horrible Gym! As the first reviewer stated-​they do lie. There is absolutely no customer service there. The mgr. (and I use that term loosely) does not care about members.
The attitude amongst the employees is smug and condescending. This place is no Equinox!
If the first guy who reviewed reads this please post more about the class action lawsuit. I am interested.
