Quintessential B&B definitely lives up to its name. I had my wedding here on 4.4.16 and felt like royalty upon arrival. Sylvia was extremely courteous and made us feel right at home. She organized every aspect of our wedding and made sure every base was covered(flowers, cake, photography, reservations etc. My husband even elaborated that he felt so comfortable that it was as if our friends and family were there. Breakfast was divine loved her corn beef hash with herbs, poached eggs, turkey bacon and sausage. and who would say no to blue mountain Jamaican coffee. The end result is I married my «partner in crime» and it turned out to be the best day ever! Thank you Sylvia!(My Lola Falana) and staff for making my big day very special.

I was looking for a last-minute spa retreat for me and my girlfriend for Valentine’s getaway. With all big hotels/resorts being overbooked months in advance, I had to pick something of a smaller scale and, boy, am I glad I ran into Quintessentials. This is the perfect B&B experience for me. * A lovely, well-traveled, well-educated, well-prepared host, who is also an amazing cook, a great conversationalist, and an overall great person. * A low-key place with a plantation-style old-school decorations, yet luxurious and pampering with a hot tub in our bathroom, gourmet breakfast/brunch, cookies/tea in the afternoon and spa treatments * Great location that is sufficiently far from the city, so that you feel like you are having a proper vacation and you can unplug entirely, yet only a couple hours drive away from Manhattan. Relatively close to wineries, dining options, the ocean and Orient beach, great farms where you can pick up local produce(more relevant in summer months), etc. The most important thing was that Sylvia made us feel right at home and closer to her native Jamaican vibe — everything was easy, natural, and relaxed. She and her assistant make amazing brunch-style meals in the morning and everyone staying at the B&B gathers around a big table like a family, sparking conversations about your day around town, your interests, your life, etc. And somehow, you don’t feel awkward about sharing intimate moments and personal stories with people you just met. That’s how good Sylvia is at what she does — she makes you feel right at ease. After staying at her B&B for two nights, we felt like we’ve known her for ages. We hugged each other and promised to come back again… Highly recommended!

The girlfriend and I just got back from a 2 night stay with Sylvia at the Quintessentials BB. We have nothing but great things to say about the place. The grounds well kept and relaxing, the rooms clean, charming and welcoming, the FOOD fresh, delicious, and just perfectly filling, all of this 4min driving to downtown Greenport. Sylvia is a great host. Very friendly, vibrant and energetic and it helps she always has a smile on her face. How great must this place be that the girlfriend had not a single complaint? Thanks again Sylvia

I booked a room at Quintessentials with my girlfriend back in May for some rest and relaxation. It was a little out of our price range, but it was worth it. This was the perfect place to escape the city grind for a few nights of peace and quiet. The B&B was beautifully decorated in a plantation style. The surrounding town and wine tasting country was beautiful. Sylvia was a dynamic, powerhouse of a hostess. She has been many places and has done many interesting things in her life and is happy to tell guests about them over breakfast. Her Jamaican coffee cake and corned beef hash were delectable and her produce from the onsite organic garden was fresh and delicious. It is really special to stay with someone who has placed such a individualized and classy stamp on their little part of the world.

I booked a room for the July 4th weekend last minute at Quintessentials. It was worth every penny! Innkeeper Sylvia is a doll — so sweet and such a good hostess. She was always ready to give a suggestion about what to do around the North Fork as far as activities, wineries, and oh yes restaurants. Breakfast at the Inn is filling & delicious. Be prepared to linger over coffee and conversation with fellow guests. Our room was clean, we had no need for a porch/balcony so we didn’t book a room with one but I can see how people might like it. Tho we spent a lot of time out of our room and didn’t need it. The websites says that the Inn is a Caribbean Plantation style Inn — it is! Great food and décor that remind me of the beautiful Islands. Besides a great breakfast Sylvia always had refreshments in the afternoon waiting for Tea Time(blue fish salad & pita) & a snack basket late at night(oreos and cheese nips YUM). Easy to get to from the Hampton Jitney but you would want a car to visit the rest of the North Fork. Rates are pricey but worth it! Come rest & relax!
