I mean, what can I say about Models?! They have everything you need when it comes to sports attire & this week is certainly no different!!! They have a special section set up just to display the Mets gear that everyone in NY is seeking right now. Not only do they have tons of options in all sizes, but they have consistent shipments coming in to keep up with the demands. I actually went twice on Saturday at two different times because my friend was annoyed I didn’t inform her lol & got what I needed both times & didn’t have to wait more than 4 minutes to pay. The only thing that annoyed me about my experience & hence the 4 stars as opposed to 5 is because I was asked the first time if I had a reward card & I said, «No.» The cashier rang up my $ 95 purchase & that was it. When I went back, I spent about $ 50& the cashier asked me the same question & when I said, «No,» the cashier asked me if I would like to sign up for it. Um, it would have been nice to get points for both purchases. Whether they were busy or not, the second cashier took the extra minute to go above & beyond & offer me something. I have one word for this Models: consistency.

You would think this Modell’s location would be slightly better given the fact it has 2 floors and is conveniently located along Hempstead Turnpike. Unfortunately, it is mediocre at best. You barely see any staff walking around and on weekends, there is usually only 1 or 2 registers open. Downstairs is a decent supply of sports jerseys, whole upstairs houses workout gear. The staff member who did help us unlock a jersey was someone who obviously did not want to be there. Not a bad location but there are a ton of better ones out there.

This Modell’s store has two floors! I came here just to buy hockey shirts as my boyfriend and I were heading over to the Nassau Coliseum to watch the Islanders play the Avalanche. I was pleasantly surprised to find a selection of Islanders shirts. Prior to going to this store location, I went to one by my house in Astoria, Queens and they only had a couple of Islander t-shirts; none to my liking. The only con that I noticed was that they had two fitting rooms. One of the rooms was being used by another patron and the other room was vacant but locked. There were two people in front of me waiting to try on clothes, and it was only until we said something before someone unlocked the other fitting room door. Perhaps they were understaffed that night, but the staff should be more alert to customer needs.

Easy to get to and park. The store is clean with a friendly, helpful staff. My wife only needed a pair of sunglasses and a friend recommended the stock at Modells. All were $ 6.95 and fit the bill perfectly. I will admit that it’s very disappointing to see a store as big as Modells with only two customers and will definitely keep them in mind when it comes time for the holiday gift giving season.

Great deals right now. Many items are 30 to 40 percent off. Polo style golf shirts are selling for $ 5.00 dollars a piece. The staff here are very friendly and you feel appreciated as a customer. Stop over for a visit, you can’t go wrong.

We took a ride to Modell’s after leaving Eastern Mountain Sports to continue our search for a sleeping bag. If you have ever shopped at Modell’s, you more or less know what to expect then. But, this is the only location I will go to. It may be a little on the messy side and hard to find a sales person at times, but this store is so big and is always stocked up on it’s merchandise. Especially the sneakers — there is always a nice selection of all major brands, styles and sizes. You’ll also find great savings on everything at this store, always nice sales going on and the staff are very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. The layout of the store also makes it very easy for you to find whatever you’re looking for. Clothing and sporting goods are on the first floor, all sneakers and footwear are located downstairs along with the treadmills and other exercise equipment. While we were looking for the sleeping bag, my girls were having the best time playing catch with this little beanbag ball they had. My older daughter, who has a great throwing arm(inherited from her mom of course), somehow got it to land perfectly centered on a beam way up across the ceiling. It really was pretty amazing(must have been at least 20 ft. high — check out in the pics). You cannot imagine how many of the guys working there(and some customers too) came over and wanted a try to get that little ball down. They couldn’t believe how she even got it up there. After maybe 10 throws, some guy hit it with my other daughter’s beanbag ball and it finally came down(trying to convince a seven year old to give up her ball was amazing in itself!!). Lot’s of cheering and high fives for that one! So, after all that, we finally found the sleeping bag(a Coleman brand) and at a great price of $ 19.95, after the sale! Everyone was happy — my daughter got her ball back, the guy who got it down couldn’t stop bragging on what a great hit he made, and my husband was the happiest since he thinks he won’t be hearing me talk about that unbelievable $ 459 sleeping bag I wanted at EMS anymore(well, at least for just a little while longer)!!
