This is a great place me and my coworkers enjoy great food… Some reviews are harsh most of them are upset you can’t come some where with limited time and be upset about small things. It is quit packed in the morning so come early.

If you open at 730… you come in at 630 to make the bagels. They rarely have any bagels when they first open up in the morning.

I used to love this place. The bagels were always so fresh and soft, and it was the best bagel store(in my opinion) in the area. But now the store is seemingly never open, my bagels have been burnt the last few months, and a certain employee there always gets my order wrong. We have to hover over her while she takes our order because somehow saying«2 bagels» always ends up as «1 bagel». It’s always packed inside and takes forever, so you can imagine how annoying it is to wait double the time for an employees mistake. When they mess up they never throw in something extra. The prices are good in my opinion, but I don’t think this place will last with the way they operate.

I’ve been coming here for about 2 years and always loved the food. I actually ended up working here for a short period of time. I always recommend this place to anyone who’s looking for a tasty breakfast with awesome prices.

this place has the best bagels if you like warm fresh overseaded bagels you will love the food it’s a smaller place just starting out and looks to be family owned they are closed occasionally on a week day here and there but I totally understand running a business myself I know the dedication it takes to be there seven days a week and how stressful it can be but overall I love the bagels and for the one day every once in a blue moon that they’re closed no big deal I’ll just grab something from the deli down the block
Craving for a delicious and warm bagel kicked in and wanting to expand my horizons went to try Bread Box. The menu has oodles of options of bagels to choose from. After deciding what I wanted and reading previous reviews of their hours, I called the establishment at 7:15 am(online it states they open at 6:30 am) and got that very displeasing answering machine recording stating that they are currently closed. I decided to give it another call at 7:20 and low and behold a human answered the phone and informed me that they are open. After I asked if their variety of bagels were out I was told that the have all of the flavor a listed on the website available. With joy I headed to my destination. Upon arrival the parking lot, which it shares with other businesses was quit empty and I happily went in. The place was clean and the employees were cheerful and greater everyone who came in. There were three employees working so my order was taken quickly. However, to my disappointment there were only 6 flavors that were out(plain, garlic, salt, pumpernickel, super egg, and egg). I was told that I would have to wait 20 minutes if I wanted the other flavors that were on my list like marble, jalapeño, strawberry, blueberry, and schmagel, with a tad bit of annoyance(as I had called ahead to make sure that the flavors I wanted were ready and was told yes) I sat on the stool by the window and waited. A wonderful aroma of freshly baked bagels filled the air and one by one bins of bagels were brought out and sorted. Once 25 minutes were up, I went to the counter and orders my bagels. I was told that it would be another 1 hour wait if I wanted the Asiago cheese and schmagel flavors. I grabbed the other flavors and left with bags of warm and fragrant bagels. I was told by my cashier that I can preorder my bagels(as I had ordered 2 dozen+4 free bagels) and they would be ready next time I came in. As I bit into the egg bagel, it was a warm soft on the inside and a nice texture on the outside sort of bagel. It was delicious and definitely better than what one would get at a supermarket, making my 25 minute wait worth it. The combination of whipped cream cheese and a soft warm bagel really hit the spot. Another person tried a bagel and said it was great, they’ve had their share of bagels so I trust their opinion. I also had a piece of the jalapeño bagel, which had a nice little kick that wasn’t overpowering. The strawberry bagel that I saw, but didn’t try seemed a little too red and I asked if it had food coloring in it along with strawberries and was told that it did not. Believing that to be true it should contain a big strawberry flavor, a flavor that could be smelled emanating from the bagel itself. All I all this is a small place, clean place with friendly staff as I talked to on the phone and met in person. I would just maybe show up a little later than 8:30 am if you want all of the flavors to be available. The bagels are definitely delicious.

The bagels are very good. Perhaps some of the best I’ve ever had. Any small complaint I have such as the size of the store and maybe staffing size is really not important. I’m a daily customer and they make my food pretty quick. I’ve seen the business take off in the past few months and it’s nice to see. They have some pretty good baked goods as well. The variety in bagels is awesome. The low carb bagels taste just as good as the regular bagels. It’s a good place, hopefully they will continue to do well and maybe expand the size of the store.

Placed an order with Eat24. Eat24 sent the order to The Bread Box and said pickup will be ready in about 20 minutes. 20 Minutes later Eat 24 contacts me saying that they could not confirm my order with the café. I decided to give the café a call myself and see if they were open since I saw some of the comments here mention they are never open. Sure enough a lady answered the phone. I asked if they are open and she said yes, so I asked her about my order. She told me that their fax machine is broken so they are not getting the orders. I told her that I had already ordered and paid online and asked if I could get my order anyway. She told me no go get a refund. She was less than pleasant about it as well. It’s definitely a turn off when you cant be accomidating to a customer especially when the misunderstanding about the order is not the customers fault. If your fax machine is broken perhaps you should have thought ahead as to call Eat24 and other ordering services to give them a heads up so you don’t inconvenience people. She definitely could have been more helpful by perhaps calling Eat24 herself to confirm my payment or may be finding an alternate method to receive their orders besides fax. It was just laziness on their part. It’s the 21st century and we have access to laptops, cellphones, and other means of communication. Get with the times people! Due to that they lost a customer that if satisfied would have been a repeat customer and would have introduced their business to an entire office building full of corporate employees. There are plenty of other breakfast places in the area, life goes on!

What a find. Cute place. Parking lot– which is a blessing in LIC! The lunch and brunch items both delicious. I had some yummy chicken tacos. Fresh crispy taco shells, tasty chicken and nice condiments included — sour cream, guacamole and salsa verde. My friends both got the American breakfast. The eggs were delicious and the home fries were some of the best I’ve had. The little bread basket with muffins was a great addition. Coffee and Bloody Mary I recommend too. Will definitely be back here.

1stTHISISNOT A BAKERY, ITS A GLORIFEDBAFELSTORE. I went there at 12pm with the intent to use my Groupon to buy Italian bread for dinner… There wasn’t any bread out, they said it was ready in the back, so I asked for 2 seeded and paid for it with cash instead of using Groupon. I got about half way home looked at the bread and noticed it was not cooked all the way threw, I turned around and went back expecting to get a refund. The owner would not give me my money back while hiding in the back, he finally came at and said it store policy for no refunds, I asked where the sign for the policy s, his response to me was iIT DOESNTMATTERANDFORMETOLEAVE, I said I would not, he said he would call the police, I said be my guest. He didn’t call them so I did. He still wouldn’t give me my money back but gave me 2 new loafs of bread, it took them but will NEVER eat them. So now did I only lose $ 4 I will loose the Groupon as well sine I will not be back there. DONOYBUYTHEREGROUPON!!! The Bread Box Bakery Café Bakery 167 likes

I am very confused about what I have just read. No, I am not a good friend of the owners or have an interest in the Bread Box other than their delicious food. Please let me enlighten Unilocal viewers to my opinion. They never close and are open 7 days a week. I am lucky enough to be able to walk there so I can see they are open from being very close. Being in a strip mall it is sometimes hard to see if anyone is in there from a car. Additionally, they just put in a large illuminated light in the front that will help any confused Unilocal reviewers before they post an inaccurate review of their schedule. I know so much because I go there quite often and find the people and owner friendly, outgoing and above all professional. They are open 7 days a week and sometimes have college age kids that will come and go, but never was mistreated by them. In that vein it is conceivable for an order to be wrong, everyone makes mistakes, but not all post reviews about them. Was there anything positive about your visit? Were the bagels good? If I don’t go in I call because one of their best specials is the ‘Sandwich of the day’ for 3.99. That is sometimes roast beef pastrami, turkey or ham or others, all Boars Head and comes with cheese, lettuce & tomato at no extra charge. That is real hard to beat. so if I am not in there I call to see what the sandwich of the day is. Needless to say I am a regular there and have tried a lot of their items. I do wish that the selection of sweet things is bigger. I have a sweet tooth for brownies, so I wish they were there every day, not just some days, but thats me Again, not an owner, but let me share this info with other Unilocal readers: — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — M-F is the ‘Sandwich of the day’ special Their hours are: Open 7 days a week(since the day they opened). Mon & Tues 6−1pm Wed-Fri 6– 3pm Sat & Sun 6:302:30pm If these hours are wrong, I apologize. Next time I am in there I will double check. OH and FWIW… I called already today and the sandwich of the day is ’Hot Pastrami’ YUMMMM Some general info. all sorts of bagels, even the out of the way types. They have Flagels(flattened bagels — great for sandwiches) Also something they came up with called a ‘Schmagel’ I think. It is a bagel which is kind of hollowed out inside already and full of air. Its great if you don’t like a lot of bread in your sandwich. plus a ton of other stuff I can’t begin to recall OK, I gotta run and call in 2 pastrami sandwiches for me and the wife. I hope this helps anyone who might be interested.

We really love this place, the only thing I would comment on is the staff’s attitudes. The owner or the owner’s mother has a huge chip on her shoulder and the young man at the counter always gets my order wrong. How you can mess up an order of 5 bagels is beyond me. Anyway, always check your order before you leave and if you want to enjoy your bagel, get it to go!
