I first browsed this shop when I came to Roots for brunch and absolutely loved everything. I decided to come back when I needed a piece for my living room and I had the best experience. Great selection, prices and employees I would recommend checking it out if you’re in the market to redecorate. I will absolutely be back.

Plan to spend lots of time browsing this amazing co-​op consignment store for furniture, lamps, dishes, mirrors, jewelry, clothes, purses, etc. Wow. Friendly employees. Great deals.

I only had a few moments to check out The Old Flamingo but I’m happy I discovered it. The shop is an eclectic and funky mix of home décor, artwork, furniture and other items. They have a lot of really cool stuff and the store itself is clean and well organized. I’ve love to come back and spend some more time exploring their treasures.

The Old Flamingo is awesome! They pack a lot into a somewhat small space, but I always find something to buy for the home when I walk through their store. They have a large inventory of artwork and home décor that (I believe) is locally made and some that is found at estate sales. They also have great furniture. If you are looking for high quality mid century modern at a very reasonable price, you must check out the Old Flamingo. Plus, they are located right next to Roots. We usually put our name down for brunch and then pass the time perusing their store until our table is ready. On our most recent visit we bought a vespa shaped lamp! (the hubby owns and loves vespas and the lamp is truly one of a kind). But we have also found tapestries, paintings, vases, and more. Every time I walk into their store I have to restrain myself because it is filled with so many unique items.

I’m not a thrift store shopper, but given the high reviews and ratings figured I’d check this place out while looking for a TV stand. They definitely have a huge variety and nice, quality pieces of furniture at good prices. Almost got me buying things I didn’t need because they were so reasonable.
I didn’t find what I was looking for, but was really impressed by the friendly service, huge selection, prices and the fact that it was bright and clean. I would definitely come back, which is hard for me to say in a store like this given that I get overwhelmed by too much stuff!

In a way, this is the sort of shop that perhaps Stephen King had in mind with «Needful Things», minus the overall creepiness of the proprietors, dimness, cobness and dustiness of the shop in his book. It’s very difficult to quantify such a place, which is part curios shop, part antiques, part eclectic figurines, part artist colony, part home décor and part furniture, right down to the aged/​weathered/​distressed look. In short, this is the kind of a shop that’s so much of a problem for me, I probably won’t come back unless I leave all my cards at home and just stuff my wallet full of cash so as not to go crazy overspending… and will henceforth go crazy trying to decide and still finding that one perfect item right as I check out.
Prices are a bit rangy, but as part of this goes to support the Tracy Aviary and a lot of it goes to support an ultra-​cool store and the exceedingly wonderful and talented artists that have their work on display, I can live with some excessive expense. Art is not really quantifiable as a fixed value commodity, of course, not by nature or anything else. More what I mean by that is I think Object A should not exceed X amount of dollars so that I can thereby pick up more objects…
In short, this is the kind of store I love. I like old stuff, dated stuff, all of the stuff that seemed to have sort of started fizzling out in the 60’s and did a full-​on vanishing act in the name of plastics and cheapness in the 80’s. I could do a lot of historical comparisons to this degradation, but rather than depress myself further with these new times, which are least serving to make me value those bygone days more, I’ll just say this is the kind of place where I could spend hours (and hours) and even in the time I spent today, I was both enriched and gratified that we came in… and glad I only had a finite bit of cash in my pocket.

I had to use great restraint walking through this unique, gem of a shop… or perhaps «shops» is a better term — — each section has different kinds of treasure. Make sure you see them all… you never know what might be «hiding» around the next corner! I needed to use patience and restraint because — although we are moving into a new house (for us) in just another week… and I need to see our shipment of stored items coming via truck to see what we have in there before I really know what things we actually need.
I come from the world of greedy second-​hand and thrift-​store shops in Los Angeles… and I saw some pieces in Old Flamingo that were certified bargains! I just wish I knew if we really need them before I made the purchases … besides — I have no place to keep them at this time.
I can keep my fingers crossed that they are still there… but I get the feeling that this is the kind of place that has a great turn-​over of goods (based on the number of «SOLD» or «HOLD» tags I saw!“
It was crowded and busy… but the people there running the show couldn’t have been more helpful or pleasant! I can promise you that I will be a regular here! What a find!

While I didn’t buy anything here, it was a lovely experience. I saw some great antiques, fun furniture, and some cool light fixtures. The workers were very cheerful and helpful. I think I’ll be back but I will have to save some money up, I’m a bit of a frugal gal and this will require some splurging!

What an amazing find. They have a huge variety of unique items. People working the store were super helpful in showing us around. Can’t wait to see what they offer this week. And it is next door to our favorite restaurant!

The Old Flamingo is tucked away in East Millcreek and it has something for everyone inside. It that is run by a coop of 14 vintage eco– friendly minded artists. Each artist displays their abilities to transform their unique finds into one of a kind pieces for your home.
I love this shop. It is so much fun to mill the isles, there is something for every taste. Whether it’s a custom painted vintage furniture piece or, the a finishing touch piece for a difficult spot, you will find a one of a kind unique treasure at this shop. There are tons of cool pieces. If you don’t like the color of something, they will customize it for your taste.
The staff is friendly, helpful and was happy to show me around.

My husband and I recently moved to SLC and very close to this store. We wished we had gone there first to furnish our apartment. There are several artists so the store has a wide variety of items. The staff was super helpful giving us tips on items we were interested in purchasing, and any questions we had were just a phone call away for the answer. We left with Christmas presents for each other and our families, and a long list of more items we wanted.
The furniture is nice quality with unique touches. Everything is one of a kind. Prices were totally reasonable. y husband bought a dresser that the artist then repainted and lined the drawers. It cost more of course but it was done within a few days.
Overall we were very happy with our experience and recommend it to anyone looking for something unique.

I really love the Old Flamingo for so many reasons.
Every time I have gone, I’ve found a treasure that I want to take home with me, whether it’s a neat dresser or a pretty tea pot. It’s an eclectic mix of items and you’re sure to find something that you like. I believe it’s a bunch of different people who use the space to sell their pretty things so you get a wide variety of things to choose from.
The staff is always so friendly and helpful. I’ve never walked in without someone coming up to ask me if I’m looking for something specific or if I need any help. Last time I was in, I was informed that they offer to repaint items which is pretty good to know. Sometimes you see a piece of furniture you really love but the color just isn’t right. Well, if you’re crafty, you can do it yourself, but sometimes you’re not and they’ll just do it for you for an extra fee.

I love The Old Flamingo! You just never know what you may find! And all the artists are so easy to work with…
I already told my husband that when it’s time to redo rooms, there will be items from The Old Flamingo!
I moved to Salt Lake City from Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Next year, if I have a decent lawn, there will be plastic pink flamingos everywhere!

Oh man, this place is fantastic. There are so many strange, wonderful, and vintagey things here. I’ve picked up a mirror shaped like a vintage tennis racquet, a vintage bamboo basket, and a beautiful solid wood octagonal end table. I’m also busy coveting some cute teal painted step stools, along with a few headboards made from old shuttered doors. The variety and the surprise you get just looking around this place is phenomenal. It’s one of those stores where you could walk through and think you saw everything, and then walk through again and see completely different things the second time around. I have to agree with Kelie– watch out, you might end up spending your life savings here… or, like me, end up with an entirely cluttered house!

Name a vintage store in Salt Lake City and its vicinity and I have probably been there. When I moved to Salt Lake City three weeks ago, I was looking to furnish my apartment with a mix of modern and vintage styles. In order to satisfy the vintage aspect of it, I visited quite a few stores that were classified as consignment, secondhand, vintage, etc. All that I came across in those stores were old looking repainted rickety stuff. Then I chanced upon Old Flamingo today. This was the best furniture shopping experience that I have ever had.
No pushy sales people, no disinterested people either. The lady who appeared to be the owner acknowledged my presence and said that they could change the color if I preferred a different one for the piece that I liked. Fortunately, the color of the magnificent pink sewing table turned night stand that I chose was perfect. And the color is perfect on every piece of furniture that they have in the showroom because each one of those has been well thought out and executed intelligently. This place is a cut above your ordinary shabby chic vintage store; it is vintage making its mark in the 21^st century with the help of a group of friendly women with good taste.

The Old Flamingo is a fantastic place to score some amazing vintage finds.
We were widow shopping while eating at Roots next door one Sunday afternoon (they were open though Unilocal said they should have been closed) and decided to head in.
We had something very specific in mind and after browsing around for awhile and not finding it we asked one of the very helpful ladies running the place and instantly they had all hands on deck searching for what we needed.
They found not one, but two different options for us and even told us how to go about repainting it ourselves to a different color more suited to our home, even though they offer repainting as an extra service you can buy from them.
Don’t go in here if you have an affinity to beautiful custom furniture, or vintage trinkets and décor. You will end up spending your life savings because everything is too great not to buy.

The Old Flamingo is one of those stores where there is something cool, unique, fun and/​or interesting around every corner. We found many things we wanted and a few that we absolutely couldn’t live without.
The ladies and gents working here were very cool and friendly. They were always close by to answer any questions we had about their treasures, but were never intrusive or stalkish. Stalkery? Stalk-​a-​licious?
The pink flamingo yard decorations alone are worth the trip to this store. They’re magnificent!
If you need a unique gift, for yourself or someone you love, this store will provide you with a plethora of cool options to make even the most picky among us very happy.

I discovered this shop last night, and I may or may not have been there twice already, with a third trip planned for today (to pick up the piece of radness I purchased last night).
The reason this place is better than your average consignment shop is that it isn’t one. It is run by a coop of 14 vintage enthusiasts, and each displays their treasures. It’s like getting to peek into other peoples windows and see what they’ve been collecting, except you get to buy it. I could almost feel the excitement each of these collectors felt about the items. I looked at a set of Pyrex casserole dishes, and the lady mentioned a set of bowls (Friendship Pattern. My keen eye had already spotted them on my first trip in.) As an avid vintage collector, I felt like I was in heaven. There is a great selection of vintage pieces mixed with re-​done furniture, various home accessories, new items with a serious kitsch factor (lawn flamingos wearing scarves, anyone?) and even some new art and fashion items (Oilily diaper bag!)
The prices are fair. Some vintage shops in town charge what I feel like are fairly ridiculous prices, but these sellers know the value of their treasures but keep the pricing at a level that makes it accessible. Obviously not thrift store prices (but what are those anymore anyway? High.) but definitely fair. Part of the value in vintage items is in the eye of the beholder. For instance, the item I purchased is something that we have been looking for for YEARS, so at the price I found it, I told my friend/​shopping accomplice that I kind of felt like I stole it. I had expected it to be more than double.
The lack of pretension here is refreshing. As I mentioned, the people working in the store are part of a coop, so they have a much more vested interest than just collecting a pay check. They honestly love the pieces, and they honestly love to see peoples’ faces light up when they discover their very own new treasure.

The Old Flamingo recently opened at the Millcreek Art Space at Flynn Artipelago, and it’s a really rad and accessible addition to this already amazing space. Most recently it had been an old church, but now the space has been totally spruced up and it’s gorgeous.
It’s hard to describe what The Old Flamingo is. It’s like what craft malls should be. What they could be. If those really bad crafty malls stopped selling horrendously lacy things, made their space just bit hipper and got in some stuff that tilted the scales more towards art, you’d have a poor man’s Old Flamingo.
On its most basic level, this is a collection of several artists and quasi-​collectors that sell out of one space. You have some vintage items alongside a good dose of re-​imagined and repurposed stuff. But it’s so much more «arty» than all that. I never got the feeling that the items there were created at a ladies’ social. More like they were thoughtfully made by really interesting people who wanted to make beautiful things. When you can make a filing cabinet sexy, you’re doing something right.
Most of the stuff there is home décor, with a good amount of furniture. It could take you a while to cruise the space, but just ask someone working there if you’re seeking something particular and they have an amazing mind to remember what’s available.
As an added bonus, there’s a new café about to open in the front of the building. Pop in for some shopping and stick around for a light bite or a sip of coffee.
You can’t miss it driving down 2300 E. Pink flamingos pepper the front lawn and the stately front façade faces the street.
