Piers tugs and rivers Bold Point Park is a small two acre park that is located right on the Providence River. This area use to be absolutely filthy with all kinds of nasty things in the river but has cleaned up considerably since the new sewage treatment plant opened. Even though the water is much cleaner the area still has a skanky look to it. Lots of old piers and ruins from earlier days are are still around and remains of old oil spills are still obvious. A lot of sentiment runs down from other streams and rivers into the Providence River so it never looks clean like it does further south. It actually looks a lot worse than it is but I still wouldn’t eat any fish caught from around here. The park is across the river from the much more popular India Point Park and though it certainly isn’t well know, Bald point still gets a lot of people. Many fishermen, people just hanging out and since it has a nice boat ramp, lots of boaters. A very convenient place to launch a boat to go up or down the Providence River or into some of the other rivers in the area. A great place for a kayak since you can go south down into Narragansett Bay or north right into the city of Providence. Pretty cool to see the city from the river and you get to go right by Brown University and even the Providence Place Mall. Not the most scenic or spectacular place to paddle a yak and sure the old rusty and rotting things takes a bit of care to navigate around but it is a cool little park that shows a rougher side to the city and river.
