A park on a point Sabin Point Park is a roughly five acre park that is indeed on a point of land that juts out into the Providence River. The river is almost a mile wide in this area so the park has great views in almost all directions. The park has made improvements over the years and now has a nice playground, basketball court and paved walking paths. It always has a nice fishing pier and launch site for small boats. Since the river is so wide here the water can get pretty feisty for a kayak or canoe and it’s more like open ocean than a river. Plus the river has a huge amount of traffic, from large tankers and freighters to numerous fishing boats of all sizes. The park is a lovely park to see the sun rise or set or to just sit and watch all the boat traffic go by. A cool place, especially for people that want to feel they are on the water without ever leaving the land.
