So I had gotten takeout twice from this place. Both times I got salad and cheesecake tempura. First time I ordered chirashi to try out their fish. The sushi chefs def know what they’re doing, so even though the quality is not on-par, I still enjoy enough out of my first meal. Second time I ordered a shrimp teriyaki bento box, but this experience was worse than the first one. When an old gentleman and I went to pick up our orders, there was NO hostess to assist us.(Both times I was told the order would take 10 – 15 minutes, and I would usually pick up the order on time.) One of the chefs in the kitchen actually went OUTOFHISWAY to come OUT of the kitchen to help us out. Both of us got our orders, but mine was incomplete. My «bento box» was missing the California rolls and pork dumplings, but that’s not all. The teriyaki sauce ended up being too sweet, and it had sweet potatoes that end up being incredibly soggy. Salad is definitely total crap, and the cheesecake tempura could’ve been better. The only pros I’ve considered are that: they do a 10% student discount, their sushi is at least somewhat edible, and the place is decent for express Japanese sushi. They need new management for the place. I can see why they keep hanging up this«Help Wanted» sign outside, because who would want to work in such a low standard dining facility that’s still holding on for years?(They haven’t even updated their old 2008 website when the place was probably still new.) I feel terrible for the sushi chefs who got work under such conditions as well. Def not gonna come back often.

The sushi is not good. The service was rude. The prices are too high for the quality of the food received. We spent $ 50 on a completely unsatisfying meal, and we were completely ignored by the servers although there were only two other tables filled in the restaurant. Awful experience, terrible food, waste of money.

I ordered take out in person a few days ago. The hostess went out of her way to be abrupt & dismissive. And this was the second time out of two visits(same girl). She was visibly annoyed with my question about a menu item. Really? Then copped an attitude when I asked for extra ginger. Is this how she’s been trained to treat her customers? If she hates her job that much, she should find employment elsewhere, maybe at a charm school. The food is good, but I will not return — I do not appreciate being treated as if I’m an imposition. Why not just hire a insult comic as hostess, eg, «nice haircut pal, where’d you get it, at a pet shop?» At least THAT would be engaging & friendly.

$ 18 chirashi was excellent. Miso soup was so-so. The sushi chef gave me what I can only describe as a tuna taco. Raw tuna inside a tiny taco shell with a deal, sweet sauce. It was excellent! 4:30pm the place was empty. Service was ok. Sushi chefs seem to not speak any English, so no banter at the bar. I’d go back.

Came here yesterday for a night quick diner, there were still people in the restaurant, very nice decorations. Host/server sort of greeted us looking at her watch constantly so I asked if it was Ok to stay otherwise we would leave, and she said yes. We ordered 2 appetizers and 2 entrees quickly and never had an experience when all the food its pushed at once. So there we were with 4 plates at the time trying o have a small chat while eating, fine no big deal. Not half way during the entrée dish, we were rush and a check was placed in the table without asking if there was anything else we would want/need. Just simply rude, if would of being more polite to ask us before they decided to sat down to better leave, We stayed for around 35 mins pass 15 mins of their«closing time» which was 10. Awful service experience, food was not that bad. I will not come back and will not recommend as well.

Got take out here. To me they Had some of the weirdest special rolls. The ingredients in the sushi were fresh and good. Just thought it was a little different for me. worth a shot to try it.

Did not like at all. Ordered the tofu steak teriyaki and miso soup. Both had no flavor. Not recommended.

Each time I’ve gone I’ve had tremendous service. After my second time, the waitress recognized me and was very accommodating. There is no shortage of sushi places in the area, but it deserves every last star. The food is tasty and the creativity for the dishes is above average.

My boyfriend’s family loves this place! We always go here whenever I visit Setauket. The staff really knows their customers and their families and always makes small talk with us about our college plans, etcetera. The lunch special is really great here! My favorite is to do the three rolls and a soup/salad for $ 12. Personally, my favorite roll is the salmon jalapeño, but all of them were pretty good.

This is my favorite local sushi place. The food is always consistent and the servers are sweet. Plus they play this best of Whitney Houston at lunch!

Best Japanese meal I had in the States! The sushi was very fresh. Flavor was just right. Customer service was great. Atmosphere and presentation fit a special night out without paying an arm and a leg. Definitely will be coming back!

Ok. Not great. Special rolls are very expensive for what you get and the fish isn’t super fresh. Hana in Port Jeff or Tai Sho North in Setauket are the best sushi in the area in my opinion, followed by Kimi, also in Port Jeff.

This is a great sushi place. Very fresh. I really like it. The Domo sandwich was recommend by server and I get it every time i go. I I also get the Broadway roll. Its all tuna. My husband loves the Rock Shrimp and Calamari. He gets one or the other when we go. I don’t like the peanut sauce that comes with the calamari but I do like the Rock Shrimp. I love Tuna Avocado salads and theirs is very different. Its slowly growing on me but it has a bunch of different vegetables in it a little strange but tasty. It is pricey when ever we go its at least $ 80.00 for 2 people but we do order the most expensive things on the menu and each get a sandwich and a roll and an app. As far as the restaurant goes the service is so fast, the place is always spotless and its really roomy so it can accommodate large parties. — went back yesterday for birthday sushi. My friend and I shared 3 rolls and a Domo sandwich she got a bubble tea and we split ice cream. I’m still full!

Gimme MO Domo! Lol I really enjoy this place, I have been coming here for the past 2 ½ years and I haven’t been disappointed once! sushi here is very fresh. I have not had the hibachi, but their sushi is awesome. It’s always cold, fresh, and the service is pretty good. They have some of the best miso soup. It’s never cold always comes out piping hot. Many of the times I’m here for takeout. My suggestion would be to call at least half an hour before you are ready to pick up. Although the food is good to take out service can be quite timely. I came here after Superstorm Sandy. Many places were out of light and electricity. I came here on my lunch break and they had a generator going. Needless to say my coworker and I were quite skeptical to eat here. But to my surprise they had a generator going, the service was still great and the sushi was still as fresh as if nothing had happened. Kudos to Domo!

I’ve ordered takeout from here once. I would say that the sushi here is slightly above average for the area. The chicken teriyaki was definitely nothing special, wouldn’t order it again. I liked the spring rolls.

Prices are a bit much but for lunch, it’s not too bad if you like good Japanese food. They are very generous with the avocado in any rolls with avocado which is great(I love this) and the waitresses are usually nice, friendly, and professional. Asking for substitutes, you have to be careful — as Unilocal reviewer Katie A. stated: she was charged $ 1 for subbing in something and she wasn’t notified when she was asking for the substitution. I had a similar experience at dinnertime but it was a bit different in that — I asked if it was possible to get shrimp teriyaki instead of salmon teriyaki. The waitress(one that isn’t a regular or wasn’t regular on the times I’ve gone there) went back to the kitchen and asked and came out to tell me it would be an extra $ 1. At least she told me. I had decided I wanted salmon instead by the time she came back to tell me about the extra charge and said I didn’t want shrimp anymore but wanted salmon instead. When our dinners came, it turns out she had given me shrimp and I told her I had actually decided on salmon. She said she heard me say shrimp. I told her that I had said salmon. My friends who were with me and heard me say salmon as well. She became a little rude about it and said she heard me say shrimp again. What could have been made better was if she just apologized because I know what I asked for and I know what I said. She should have just apologized and said she’ll take the $ 1 charge off my bill since I wouldn’t want them to scrap this dinner already made(not the chef’s fault for this mistake). Other than this experience, every other time was pretty good. I do like their food. Their salmon is amazing. Love the vegetable steamed gyozas. I will be louder about my order next time and ask the waitresses to repeat back to me what they wrote down to avoid this nuisance.

Domo is one of those strip mall restaurants that from the outside don’t look like anything special but you’ll be pleasantly surprised as you walk through the door. Once inside, it doesn’t feel like you’re in a little restaurant off of north country road. The décor is very chic and modern and the service was very friendly and attentive. Went there for dinner a couple of weeks ago for the first time and I was very happy with it. We ordered some drinks and when they brought our drinks out the waitress also brought out a free appetizer for us to try out! As for our order, we got 3 rolls(pink love, spicy titanic and one more which I can’t remember the name) and they were all delicious. As for dessert, we got the mochi ice cream in three different flavors(green tea, vanilla and strawberry) Overall, we had a great first experience at Domo. The service was really attentive and the food was excellent. The reason I’m not giving it a full 5 stars is because I would like to go back again and try out more rolls but simply put, Domo is worth trying out!

Food was ok. Prices are quite high for the quality/area and especially service. Asked waitress to substitute avocado for cucumber, and then found out on the receipt that she charged me $ 1 extra for it without any notice. Didn’t even come back to take the payment, sent someone else, who was pretty rude about it and chose to not anything about it. Hate bad servers. Bye bye tip!

When we first passed by, we pointed it out as some small store you’d never go into… it was in a stripmall! But after we asked a local how it was, his response was«Oh, Soooo Gooooood!», we decided to see what Domo was all about. We stopped in on a Wed night around 9pm, 1 hr before closing. The staff was very nice, the place is obviously run by non-japanese but as long as the Sushi tastes good, it really doesn’t matter to me. The staff kept refilling our Green Tea and something as simple as that cannot be found as many restaurants so bonus points from me! The restaurant had about 5 people in it besides us, which isn’t bad for a 9pm on a wed night. Here we go — The Rolls! The sushi took quite a while considering there was no customers but it was worth the wait. — Crunchy Spicy Yellowtail Roll The Yellowtail and the scallions mixed in gave it a different but delicious flavor. One of my Favs. 6pcs, $ 6 — Oyster Tempura Roll Tempura, how can you go wrong? This came with a delicious white dipping sauce. Only problem, you couldn’t see the oyster, it was all batter. But still good. 6pcs, $ 9 — Spicy Titanic Salmon, avocado and caviar wrapped around spicy tuna and tempura flakes This was a glorified Crunchy Spicy Tuna Roll. Was it worth it to pay $ 13(7pc) vs $ 5.50(6pc) for a regular Crunchy Spicy Tuna Roll? Now that I think it of, darn, no. We should have ordered a SpTuna Roll AND a Salmon Roll for that price. It was melt in your mouth yummy though! — Green Envy Wasabi pea crust, tuna, salmon, asparagus, oshinko with wasabi-chimichurri dipping sauce This was a glorified Futomaki roll. This was another one of my favs because it reminded you of your childhood(futomaki rolls). I don’t like fmaki rolls much but now we have tuna and salmon mixed in, now its a whole new ballgame! Came with a sweet yummy wasabi dipping sauce. 5pcs, $ 9, not too bad. They were hefty pieces! 2 of us were COMPLETELY stuffed!
