The onions we bought last time were perfect to look at but were incredibly flat! The store is good for quantity but just ok for quality. I’d make sure to not buy vegetables there that I’d find at a regular grocery store or Wegmans.

This place is nestled in between a hair cut place and tj maxx. I believe it used to be a wegmans. It’s quite large inside as usual. I do have to say I’ve been in many indian grocery stores in my time. This one is set up nicely and everything is very easy to find even for us Americans who have no knowledge of set ups. Their produce is beautifully fresh but prices are close to normal grocery stores, so theirs no competitiveness there. Their frozen foods and dairy are higher in price than I’ve seen. I did find everything I needed with the greatest of ease and no one sneered and made faces for me being there. I didn’t go thru every aisle didn’t have time for that maybe next trip. I did take a quick glance on aisles and they seem to have a wide variety of just about everything you need to cook. From spices to cookware and even quick frozen dinners, snacks and desserts. A huge selection of frozen breads from Naan to puri. I would definitely go back if I needed something quick for a meal or recipe.

The excellent Patel Brothers have arrived to East Windsor in the Target plaza and while the buzz preceded them I was very pleasantly surprised to finally shop there this afternoon. Think high end American Supermarket but with all the vegetables, dry goods, spices, kitchenware and refrigerated foodstuffs that goes into South Asian cuisine. While a smaller concept, Patel Brothers is bright, clean, slick and very well organized such that it is instantly recognizable and comfortable to shop their aisles for a non Indian customer… which there were many this afternoon. The fresh vegetables were top notch, well represented and very responsibly priced {huge bunches of vivid green and fragrant cilantro was 2/$ 1.00. Cauliflower heads 1/$ 1.29. White potatoes 1lb/.59cents} Frozen section held every conceivable parata, roti, kati roll, South Asian prepared food and entrée. One aisle devoted to the most comprehensive selection of both young and aged Basmati rices I have ever seen, the chutney aisle is mouth watering The staff is very helpful, eager to please and quick with a smile. This is a cool, slick and well conceived operation and with Aldi’s opening just around the corner in the old Bottom Dollar location and all the equally excellent farmers stand and markets in the area we in the West Winsor/East Windsor/Cranbury/Monroe area have just hit the food store lotto. I urge you to go even if you wouldn’t know a parata from a somosa you’ll like Patel Brothers… I know I do.
