Fresh food cooked with care. They also have a broad menu and always something a little different. Great stuff!

We hiked Mount Tom and went here for an early dinner after. I had high hopes and MAN did they deliver! I ready all the great reviews for this fish tacos which I wouldn’t normally order and am SO glad I did. I ordered a second of fish tacos to take home– that good! Also, they were closing up to go to a catering job and made them for me in spite of being closed. So friendly! My hubby had the whole bellied clams. Only think I can say is amazing! Fresh– great coleslaw and tartar and the fries are great too. We will be making the trek back up soon.

Was starving and excited to see the good reviews on Unilocal for this place. While I hate to write terrible reviews for family-owned places… and it does offer a unique outdoorsy experience, the food was pretty bad. I know when I get fish and chips, it should be greasy, but this just didn’t taste fresh. I wouldn’t return, but I don’t hate the place.

The fresh lemonade was amazing and the fish tacos were good — They were a little greasy/heavy, but the slaw on top was great. It’s a great place to go to sit outside on a nice day.

The fish may have been fresh but the oil it was cooked in wasn’t. The grease from my scallops had started to pool in the bottom of the cardboard basket by the time it got to the table. And our fries were a really dark brown, they looked burnt but didn’t really taste burnt just greasy.

Can’t get to end of summer without a fried clam roll. Smells so good here when getting out of the car, it made my mouth water. The food was good, not great, but solidly good. The clams were a little heavy on the breading and a little gritty, but the flavor was good. Fries were good too. And as always, I’m a fan of anywhere I can sit outside to eat in the summer. I could even bring my dog who lay under the table happily. They were very nice there and gave me a bowl for water for the dog. If in the area I would go back. Not as good as the Cape, but decent for local fare.

Best bbq chicken sandwich I’ve ever had! Honestly, I’ve eaten this sandwich twice in one day it’s so good! Also tried their fried clams, delicious!

It’s Like eating at a seaside shack in Maine, but without the lighthouse or the sea. Very tasty fried fish and lobster rolls. Great relaxed atmosphere on the side of the road with picnic tables. We love going there and will return.

The best clam rolls that aren’t made next to the ocean but in the foothills of the Berkshires in Pioneer Valley Massachusetts! Great roadside treat — lots of great stuff on menu — clams and lobster are a little pricey but worth it!

Yes, it’s a shack, but spell that S-H-A-Q-U-E, please. It is that good. My sweetie and I were at the national square dance convention in Springfield, MA, but we left just as the next tip started because we had built up powerful hungers, us being from GA. We Unilocaled«seafood» in the area, and Jack’s popped up, so we went. My oh my. You know how hard it is to make great scallops, and how easy it is to ruin them? These guys did it perfectly — sweet, tender, busting out of the bun GA mountain style. My honey had her fish and chips with fried onions rings instead of french fries: excellent choice, sweetie, as generally you make. Fresh lemonade. Friendly folks in the kitchen engaged in getting you the best meal for your needs rather than just«blah blah blah lobster blah blah.» You’ll sit out at the picnic tables — no indoor seating — but that means you can also watch their crows swoop down for a conversation. Truly, truly worth the drive.

Great seafood place, particularly for the area. Fish & chips and lobster rolls are great. Fries and cole slow are excellent. Great service sizes. Check it out!

It’s charming and if it’s a sunny warm day then definitely worth the trip. That said… the food is road side shack snack bar food. Some items are over priced. Today was very busy and it took almost 45 minutes to get our food but they did warn us. Fish tacos are ok and a good value at 6.50 for two large tacos. A grilled chicken sandwich with Brie and greens was odd and well not so good. Greens were way over dressed and frankly the flavors did not work. I’d come back to sit in the sun have some fries n a burger and bring my own booze. Just don’t expect much more and save your money to buy seafood closer to the coast.

I don’t eat fried food as a rule but the fish taco sign lured me in. I assumed a when-in-rome, treat-this-as-an-adventure attitude about it and I’m glad I did. tacos super tasty(2 per order), even without the tortilla(after breaking my fried foods rule, I decided to stick to my no-flour-tortilla rule). bottom line: crispy but succulent fish tasty cabbage and cilantro on top perfect amount of tangy chipotle dressing flour tortilla, no corn option :( eco-friendly compostable packaging friendly, courteous service ate in my car like everyone else because it was too cold to sit at the benches recommended!

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Captain Jacks. I visited today as a special treat to help usher in the joys of spring. The crispy chicken BLT I had was positively memorable, and the fella that took my order was very nice. I wish that the picnic tables weren’t wet from the melting snow, but that just means I’ll have to go back again and try more food. The location is a great spot, and there is plenty of seating for when weather permits. My new favorite place!

This place has really gone downhill! Lobster roll used to be $ 13 and all lobster with great fries, now the price has been raised to $ 18 and they have added surimi(fake lobster) to their mix. Tasteless! Do they think their customers won’t notice? The price is ridiculous, even if all lobster! The Northampton hotel is a classy place and their all real lobster rolls are only $ 14! On a recent visit, we were served their fake lobster rolls along with over cooked, soggy French fries! Cap’tn Jack has gotten greedy! We won’t be back!

Great place to stop on a sunny day. The place is walk up only but the outside seething is great for large groups. I had the fried fish with a small salad and it was delicious. Great fresh ingredients and the fish was flaky and crispy. I could have used a bit more tarter and the guy forgot my soda but the other than that the service was great. Not many GF options on the menu so you’ll have to play around with it or go no bread on burgers and sandwiches. Will be back before they close for the winter.

In the mood for fried clams and a drive, I decided to check this place out. I approached the window and was met with someone who obviously hates his job or was having a bad day. I ordered fried clams and it came with French fries and cole slaw. The price of $ 19 is way too high for the quality and quantity received. The cole slaw was gross– warm and lacked flavor. The fries were overcooked and greasy. The clams were a little greasy but not too bad. They tasted okay. The quality and quantity given shouldn’t cost more than $ 13. $ 19 is just wrong.

What a great little find. I drive by a few weeks back but had already had lunch so when I knew I’d be in the area again I went hungry. Ordered the fish tacos which were incredible. The fish itself was flavorful, fresh and delicious; the cold slaw they pile on top was perfect and really made the tacos a great lunch. Saw other people enjoying the chicken sandwiches, lobster rolls and burgers, all are now on my list of things to try on future visits. The guys working there were great too. They happily gave their suggestions and feedback so I could decide what to try first. I will be back and I will bring friends who enjoy great food.

Had dinner here Saturday night. I had been hearing about this place forever from family and friends so I was super excited to try it! After checking out the board, kind of overwhelming and not very well organized, I decided on clam chowder and the fried clam platter. I was with a big group and most of them had the lobster roll. Someone had the scallop platter and my boyfriend had the fish and chips. We sat at a picnic table and waited for our food. I was surprised at how quickly it came out considering how much food we ordered. My clam chowder was good. It wasn’t hot(temperature) just lukewarm. Not too thick but full of clams and potatoes. Not fishy and I’d probably order it again. My fried clams were good. Not overly amazing or anything. Just standard batter fried. You get a load of fries with the platters which is nice since they’re really good fries. I’m surprised the platter is $ 17 considering even on the Cape it’s not that expensive but I guess you have the extra cost of shipping fresh food from the shore into the mainland. I tried one of the scallops and I wish I had ordered them. Lightly battered and fried. So good. I’d like to go back and try the jalapeño limeaid. I don’t know if I’m going to like it but it sounds interesting. I’d also get the scallops next time. Nice counter staff, cute place.
