Okay, I forgot my ruler, so I wasn’t ready to measure the sandwiches. Durn. Coming from Philly, the first thing to expect is that I’m not a fan of Subway. My first experience was around 1990, in Upper Darby, PA, just outside of West Philadelphia. If you consider that Philadelphia is the home of the Hoagie(and Amoroso bakeries), you’ll realize that any sandwich shop in metro Philly has a lot of living up to the legend to do. So, I went into this Subway today with a little bit of experience with Subway and a lot of experience with other national brands like Quizno’s and also local brands like Cassano’s and Penn Station. First, I was treated well. Having been to 3 locations in Richmond, each time, I was treated progressively more poorly. Being treated well in Eaton wasn’t exactly a surprise. I feel that Eaton has a lot of friendly, caring people who don’t judge immediately by appearance and assumption. Having lived in Eaton for two years previously, I know that friendly people are the majority. I wasn’t sure what I wanted but I wasn’t rushed and I was guided. Something else that was helpful was that ingredients were displayed on the sneeze guard – that glass between you and the ingredients in the bins. That was extremely helpful. I wish that they all did that. Once finished with the sandwich(Italian BMT, toasted), I was asked if I wanted anything else, and I got a drink – the $ 5.006 inch + 21 ounce drink special. The sandwich was not spectacular. It might not have even been better than those other locations, but it was made with care by someone who wanted me to be comfortable with my decision. That made a huge difference.
