Ordered egg Foo Yong. It was burnt and salty. It was like eating soy sauce on top of eggs just thicker. The fried rice was not fried just brown. The egg rolls were umm not good at all. I went here on other reviews not sure what happened. We ate in and the place has an old musty kind of smell. Should have been my first sign. Second sign, the food came within 2 minutes literally. So did they just warm it up. Well the place was clean. I must say a lot of people came in picked up take out. Maybe that’s better…

If you really want take out they will probably work. The food was mediocre and likely from a can. Price was ok if you like the food which would surprise me. I will likely never return, I was really hoping this would be a hidden gem.

Ordered Chicken Chow Mein and Fried Spring Rolls to go — all was very good! Chow Mein had lots of celery, which I like, and was in a hearty«gravy», not sweet, nice flavor — could use a little more chicken, but overall we really enjoyed it. Spring rolls were light and crispy. This is my new Chinese take-out restaurant.

We ordered twice from here and both times the chicken in the sweet and sour chicken and moo goo gai pan was rather dry and rubbery as if it had been sitting for awhile. Steer fry vegetables were also limp and soggy. We will not be back for a third visit.

I was really hoping House of Kai would have good food, since I live right down the road. The service was really friendly on the phone, and it was ready very quick! Unfortunately that’s about where it ends… I ordered the orange chicken dinner combo with an egg roll, didn’t realize until I got home they gave me cream cheese wontons instead. They were soggy and tough to chew. The orange chicken is probably the worst I’ve had… dry and tough. It looked like sweet & sour chicken thrown into a orange sauce. I dumped most of it out. I will have to keep looking for my local take-out fix, because House of Kai was not my guy.

While visiting the Minneapolis area I was in the mood for Chinese. So pulled up Unilocal after a quick review of the options, the House of Kai came to the top. Had no trouble finding the place and upon entry it fit the classic, small Chinese restaurant. A few booths and tables, not crammed in and plenty of elbow room. I was seated quickly and had time to ponder the menu, which was not out of the ordinary and held the standard menu items. Ordered my usual, Pork in black bean sauce, asked for some extra onions, peppers and make it spicy. To my delight the meal came out as ordered and I was very pleased with the spiciness. While I was there, it was only me who elected to sit in. However, there were over 15 people who came in for pick-up so clearly a well known local, take out Chinese place. So weather you’re a local or out of town, the House of Kai seems to please and I will certainly come back if I’m ever in this area again.

My husband and I love this place! Definitely the best place to get chinese food around here and we have tried them all! We usually order take-out and eat it at home, because the atmosphere there isn’t that special. The lighting is weird and it’s inside of a gas station(in a separate store) and they don’t have fountain soda. I usually order the orange chicken with fried rice and it’s sooo good. The best part is they give you enough food for like 3 days and it’s really cheap!!!

I moved to Eden Prairie last fall, and was determined to find a good Chinese restaurant. After a couple of tries, I found House of Kai. The food, or at least the dishes I have tried, is amazing, I’ve been there multiple times, tried a couple different dishes, and have enjoyed everything I tried. The serving portions are large – unless you’re super hungry, expect to have leftovers. They have extremely fast service, both with their dine in and takeout. The location(attached to a gas station, but not in the gas station) may seem a little odd, but don’t let it scare you away, the food is delicious.

Having recently moved here from NY, I was craving some chicken and broccoli. I purposely looked for a hole in the wall kind of place and came across House of Kai after reading reviews on Unilocal.Maybe chicken and broccoli isn’t their thing or perhaps I am used to having better Chinese food coming from NY but I did not like my how my order tasted or smelled. There was too much soy sauce to begin with. The chicken wasn’t properly cooked and smelled raw. The side of rice is too small and it was regular white rice, not the sticky rice. Also, brown rice is not served here. I would have to say that the service was fast and friendly. That’s about all I liked about this place.

I have been going hear for lunch since 1987. I love this place. I normally order the Sesame Chicken. This is more a lunch or quick dinner type of place. As with any Chinese restaurant their will be entrees you won’t care for. Some of the entrees are amassing and others, ah, well, just aren’t so good. I just had the cashew chicken and would not recommend it. But hay I have I have been eating hear for 2 ½ decade so you know I love this place. I always call my order in and eat back at my works lunch room. I just had the cashew chicken and would not recommend it

This is the best Chinese food I’ve had in MN. I recommend it highly. It is a hole in the wall-just the way I like good food. No secret why it’s been in business for 28 years. Spring rolls and Chicken wings were great– must try the chefs special sauce. Fried rice, Mongolian beef and chicken Kung pao were very good. The highlight for me was that everything tasted delicious and that all the sauces tasted authentically different(not like other Chinese spots in MN in which all sauces have the same underlying flavor). Must try the fried doughnut dessert!

I am so confused, I read all the reviews so I thought this place would be good. A friend and I ordered a bunch of food for take out, chicken dishes, veggie dishes, lo mein, and we were so disappointed! We were starving but only had a few bites. I didn’t even like the fried rice. I love Chinese and was saddened since this place is in my neighborhood. On a good note the white rice was fantastic.

Either my order was a complete anomaly or this is what passes for Chinese food in Minnesota. We took-out an order of chicken chow mein. Pretty basic at any Chinese restaurant. The chicken in the chow mein was sliced up chicken roll lunch meat. If they were out of chicken, they should have just not taken any orders for chicken.

This is the best Chinese I’ve had in a while. They are totally friendly and considerate of alergies. I had the spicy sechuan(not sure how to spell that) beef. It was a really friendly small town atmosphere. The interior of the place is admittedly a little bland, but you’ll never need reservations. I’ll definintely be back for more next time im up here

This is the best Chinese restaurant in Eden Prairie. It might be the smallest and most conspicuous as well. I love these types of places! I ordered the Kung Pao Chicken to go with an egg roll and fried rice. For just under 7 bucks I had so much good food to eat. It was pretty much the perfect Kung Pao hotness as well, having ordered it with a «little extra» as the cook phrased it. The egg roll was tasty, not overly greasy. The only downer was the semi-bland fried rice… but the kung pao made up for it. This place has been in business for 24 years according to the very nice woman at the check out. I’ll be back to try the Cashew Chicken… the other half of my «litmus test» when it comes to Chinese restaurants. So far, so good.

Consistently hot food tastes great, nice people, reasonably priced. Take-out is best since it’s clean but boring inside.
