I’ve been craving homemade ice cream… and nothing here has satisfied that taste. There are LOTS of homemade ice cream franchises on the island but I look for a particular taste. So… it was refreshing to see a Dairy Queen so I could get a vanilla malt. The staff is nice and friendly, I love the porch, and outdoor seating. My scratch has been itched. Thanks!

I just love Dairy Queen and there are none where I live in RI so hit this one on way home after babysitting. Staff is always unbelievably friendly, the place is clean and there are picnic tables if you wish to sit. Never a disappointment here.

Mini Blizzard… Mint Oreo with coffee syrup. Never ever charged extra for the coffee syrup in my past 17 years going to this DQ… except for tonight. It was a 30% up charge! Cancel my order and I’ll go spend my money elsewhere for an ice cream that won’t nickel and dime me. Although a 30% up charge for syrup isn’t nickel and diming… It’s just a plain olé screwing. I’ll never come back and won’t allow my kids there either.

How can you not like DQ? They make the best soft-serve ice cream in the world. They’re reasonably priced and the store in Edgartown is very clean and has some very nice employees. It’s just a great, inexpensive place to bring your kids(or yourself) for a treat.

I used to laugh at the name. DQ, so remotely unrelated to the Edgartown-the often pompous Summer showcase of the rich and old captains’ world, and the matching 4 – 5 star restaraunts/bars.The vigorously oil-painted white summer homes are tens of millions of dollars, only to be used 2 – 3 months a year. Then, there is our suburban Dairy Queen. This is the only Franchise label on the islands other than gas stations, I was told. I finally visited there first time a few years ago then I got hooked. Although it is a seasonal business, the workers are friendly, always hard working, and the menu, although tacky looking, they are quite good. DQ’s service and tastes are consistent, at least. In fact, they are better than most of other ice cream places on the islands-Rude temp workers, aggressive with tips, and the ice creams, that has no control of flavors, too sweet and rich. running out of waffles, selections and, again, inconsistent. Their selections although with different store names, often their suppliers are the same. ______________ The only suggestion is to adorn the side picnic table seating area with some plant pots. It looks quite obvious that everyone is sitting at the parking area. I noticed more people are coming in over the recent years, and I wish the continuing success.

Dairy Queen is open. Blizzards are here. It’s an island tradition to go in on the first day and drop a few big bills on some ice cream. Right on the way into Edgartown, this DQ is the primary destination for all kinds of people, especially families on bikes. It’s right on the bike path and is a convenient place to stop and get some expensive treats for the family. Get your kids down there, but be careful in the parking lot. It’s a zoo.

There is a Diary Queen on Martha’s Vineyard. Some people laugh at the mere suggestion and others vehemently deny it. I even heard one guy tell me a long story about how it is simply a story to test the gullibility of tourists. But it is true, there definitely is a DQ on the vineyard and it’s been there for a long time. Surprisingly it’s not a particular nice one, sort of old and dumpy looking, rather incongruent with the rest of opulent and historic edgartown. I’ve been by it a zillion times but still get a chuckle every time I see that DQ sign. I would love to know the story of exactly how someone managed to get a Diary Queen in that particular location. It’s actually very convenient, right near the famous crossroads. The point where you can go into Edgartown and Chappy, up to Oak Bluffs or down to South Beach or out to West Tisbury and Gay Head. A great place for a break when biking a loop of the island. They probably do a ton of business and it’s usually crowded when I stop by. The Vineyard is inundated with expensive gourmet and home made this or that. People probably enjoy seeing a place that they can get some ice cream without bankrupting themselves. So no matter what anyone tells you, there is a Diary Queen on Martha’s Vineyard. Nothing special, just like a lot of other DQ’s in other, less affluent areas. Just sitting there, giving out the usual blizzards and dipped cones, unobtrusively going about it’s business while silently giving the finger to the rest of the island.
