First off, this review is for the DUNKINDONUTS that is attached to the Shell. Five stars. Listen, I am a fat bearded guy. Basically a walking stereotype as to what a DUNKIN donuts customer is. Trust me I have been in some DUNKIN donuts. And the DUNKIN experience that I had here today is the best experience that has ever happened. Now I don’t really remember what two guys were working but they both had«shift lead» titles on their name tags. And I am fairly positive they love their job. Which made the entire experience just perfect. I went in and was like, «can I get some blueberry donut holes.» Trust me. They can. It was a great time, quick, fun, casual, and all around perfect. If you’re looking to stop on your way from MPLS to Chicago — get some actually good gas(Shell is undoubtedly the best gas) and some blueberry munchkins.

I stop at Carl’s Shell almost every time I travel from Chicago to Minneapolis and back again. I try to only go to Shell to keep my engine happy. I’ve found their prices are pretty reasonable. It’s one of the first gas stations when you cross into WI and the last before you go into IL, so you get to pay a bit less per gallon. That’s something we can all be happy about. The other nice thing is that this Shell is nested in the heard of a few of my favorite stores for trip stops. McDonald’s is across the street and Culver’s is about a block south. But my favorite place is the Wisconsin Cheese and Wine Chalet. I’ll stop there and then head over hear to fill up my tank. The store itself is pretty snazzy. It’s well maintained and they have a few extra features that other stations don’t. If you’re into Taco John’s, they have one here. If you’re into Dunkin’ Donuts, they have one here. I mostly just come for the clean bathrooms and the Siberian Freeze ice drinks. It gets the job done.

A couple miles after my gas light went on I found this lone gas station. Dunkin Donuts is attached to the convenience store… which was a nice surprise. Taco John’s is attached on the opposite side. It looked like a nice clean place, but I wasn’t desperate enough to have gas station tacos for dinner.
