Archetypus is the perfect restaurant for a date. They have personal cave tables lit by candlelight so it is very romantic. The food is delicious and fresh. They serve big portions too! I was truly impressed that they make soy milk smoothies. I order one every time I am there! Definitely recommend!

I really want to like this place. Archetypus Café is a favorite date spot in the area for good reason. The atmosphere is cozy and secretive with dimly lit alcoves and interesting textural architecture– perfect for snuggling up with your beau without anyone noticing. However, this causes some problems. Dimly lit spaces means greater difficulty to read the menu. Also, because there are partially hidden alcoves, it is incredibly difficult to pin down your waiter for anything related to your dining experience. Service is slow and spotty; we were served by three different waiters during our dinner, all of which came by only after we ostentatiously flailed for their attention. Food is incredibly average and overpriced; you definitely pay for the atmosphere. The Hawaiian Pizza we ordered came out to be a measly 7 inches in diameter at best, and looked like a typical grocery store bought personal pizza. Mushroom salad was nothing to tell home about either. All in all, great atmosphere for a date, but don’t expect much else.

Stinks they don’t take reservations! I’ve been here multiple times with friends. Was a little bummed that this time they didn’t have small caves available and would not allow us to use a larger one even tho there was no wait and multiple empty caves to dine in. This is a great date spot, quiet, low lighting and yummy desserts to share. I love that it’s BYOB! We had gyros which were perfect and apple pie dessert which was amazing! Perfect to satisfy your sweet tooth!

Hands down a must visit! It’s really all in the ambiance and just like everyone says, once again, I will also repeat– its a romantic intimate cave setting haha. I won’t say it is a complete«experience» though, because they honestly just seat you in these private, booth like, cave holes, and they serve you. You are not getting like a waiter who is coming out in costume to go with the theme, if that is what you’re looking for! :) I went with a group of 4, and we just split appetizers and dessert. Super nice for dinner and late night!

What a fun unique place this is! It’s unlike anything else in the area. Cave-like, romantic, great for couples or friends out for some late night dessert… yummy and large. BYOB by the way. Great friendly staff, super attentive, but not in your face by any means. The manager Po is a charm. Highly recommended. Need a Valentine’s Day idea? This place would be a great stop.

Great food. Great service. Very unique place. My husband and I enjoyed the food and dessert and it’s a very romantic place. We got lucky to get seats in the cave all the tables have their own private area have a wall in between. Good for a date night!

Love this place! Its dim lit, the seating is very intimate and you are in a cave! Perfect for a cute date night. The hummus plate is so delicious. But there drinks and desserts to die for. My boyfriend and I always go for their many teapots and one of their delicious desserts. Just recently we had the Chocolate Raspberry Sin and we were in heaven omg!

Beautiful ambiance! Very romantic and intimate! Unlike any other restaurants I’ve been to in the tri-state area. Food was decent(appetizer was yummy, but entrée was average) and the restaurant itself seemed pricey, but worth it to have dinner in your own cave. I noticed that it did get busy when we were leaving and not everyone was getting a cave so I would definitely recommend making a reservation(tables of 4 or more) or coming early because the food itself isn’t worth spending all that money on. Service — as mentioned on the menu, you don’t have one specific server so everyone is there to assist you. This was nice because we didn’t have to rely on one specific waiter/waitress to take our order or check up on us; however, it was a bit unorganized. 3 different people came to take our order AFTER someone had already taken it. Great idea, but it definitely needs to be worked on because I’d prefer to have my nice intimate dinner in the caves without multiple interruptions. Overall, if you’re looking to ‘wow’ someone on a date, take them here!(Just make sure you’re getting a cave!)

I would say it’s a hidden gem, definitely difficult to find but once you reach, you won’t regret it . We went there almost close to midnight after we finished a party where our taste buds were not satisfied: D Unilocaled & found this one with good reviews(also open this late) . They have these small cave like private booths in back(you almost feel like where are they taking you ;)) but trust me — if you are looking for a good romantic date night, this is the place to go . No negative points, all together a pleasant experience, tasty food & desserts. service is good, friendly servers !!!

I came here last Saturday with my wife and her friends. I don’t know why women love dessert so much. But this place is a dessert spot. We shared a brownie a la mode thing and a tiramisu. I didn’t share my banana cream pie milk shake and a coffee americano. I took away stars because we were moved 5 minutes after we were seated to let a bigger party take our booth. We asked for milk to go with our coffee but it didn’t come until 15 minutes after and when I had to add some of my milkshake to my coffee. The price is kinda pricey for dessert. And this place is way too dimly lit and a cup of coffee won’t help. The risqué sculptors(ambiance) is kinda neat. I probably return to meet up but this wouldn’t be my first choice to dine here.

Had the the ice cream bowls. The ice cream itself was delicious and the toppings paired perfectly but there was a lot of whipped cream. Also had the caramel mocha latte which was luke warm with a lot of whipped cream. The atmosphere was nice would come back for dessert!

came here for a date night saturday evening + awesome atmosphere! dim lighting was perfect for my honey and i on our romantic night. + byob + music was on point — menu and atmosphere didn’t match. i was expecting more of an aphrodisiac type of menu but what i saw was basic burgers, pizza, salads, and quesadillas –honey ordered some bbq pizza which tasted alright, nothing to rave about –i ordered a quesadilla which was also just alright — waiter hardly came around and when he did was on his phone the whole time even while speaking with us –every waiter/waitress that walked by just looked at us but no one asked if we were enjoying our meal or anything of that sort –i gave the four stars for the atmosphere not the menu

One of my favorite places to go on a date! Let me begin by explaining the positive aspects of this café. Definitely a great place for dessert and tea/coffee. Fairly priced and delicious! Another great thing is the setting. Conceptually very ambitious and aesthetically pleasing. It’s nice to change up your average dining experience and add a little flare to your date with intimate lighting and a cave setting. 10⁄10 on the environment! One thing I have to say is definitely stick to dessert at this place. The food isn’t too great. Nothing awful but definitely not something worth raving about unlike their desserts which I highly praise. All in all, a great place to go to spice up your dining experience.

Archetypus is known for their caves and intimate seating, a great place for date night. I’ve been coming here for years but mostly for just the desserts. I’ve probably only had actual food here once or twice and to be honest I am not a fan of it. Their menu is quite simple yet overpriced when it comes to their food. They have a great selection of different desserts that you can choose from. Anyone with a sweet tooth would love their menu. They also have various teas and coffees to pick from. They are open till late all nights an extra hour on Friday and Saturday. Service can vary from time to time. Overall a great place to visit on a date super cozy and romantic.

Archetypus is a neat little café that is dimly lit and situated in a space that looks like a cave. Food is OK, desserts are better, but come for the atmosphere. Wait times to sit in the back are fairly long so call ahead to make a reservation. I’ve had some of the food, including breadsticks and nachos. They taste OK, but they’re kinda overpriced. The desserts are really good, especially the sundaes. I would have taken pictures, but the dim lighting would’ve made the flash from a camera really obvious. The place is small too, so it would’ve drawn a good amount of attention. But it really is more of a café than a restaurant, so stick to desserts, coffee, and tea here.

Love love love this place. I’ve come to this«cave» for years now … Food is great– the desserts are to die for BYOB — works for me The service is a bit slow and sometimes the people seem like they are not interested in taking your order. If it’s busy you might have to wait 15 min to sit in the booth. It’s worth the wait

You walk into this spot and you know your in for a treat. I was excited to finally check this place out. I thought I was in heaven when we got back to the back yard. Shh… lets keep that a secret. Its great for a date night, handing out, and having a tasty treat. ITSBYOB, don’t forget to stop by the wine spot down the way and get a bottle. They do not serve any type of adult beverages. The caves are really a great location to eat too, its private, its semi romantic, but I was with my friend and her and I sat outside and it was equally great. You need to try their cappuccino to die for. The nachos weren’t a normal heaping plate of nachos but were bad. Its almost like something I make at home. As mentioned in other reviews 11 – 15 bucks for a quesadillas and its NOT a Mexican spot, doesn’t matter get it. Are you hungry? Get it. It was delicious and HUGE and HEAPING. The sundaes looked life changing and in fact if you are going on a date and its going well, get it. It will defiantly make great convo. I can’t wait to head back to this spot. I hope one day I make the«review of the day», until then…

The Story: Boyfriend says«take me somewhere romantic» so I replied with«I’ll take you to the batcave!». Well… he learned that his place isn’t called the bat cave. haha… Food: Honestly, this is a coffee and dessert place in my book as for their food. Meh — I don’t care much about it. None of their food are super duper outstanding but that’s not their focus. We ordered the WuKong dessert and holy moly that thing is amazing! Warm Chocolate Brownie with ice cream and whipped cream topped with Caramel. Can’t really complain. I love their caramel lattes but this particular time around… they failed at making it =( Price: This place is pretty pricey for the type of food they serve but I guess the décor makes up for it. Same concept of habachi! Décor: BATCAVE! Boyfriend loved the fact we were caved up and thought it was really romantic! Service: Service was good. They were attentive and made sure to check up on us even though we ended up in a corner seat. Parking & Finding the Place: «Right across the street from the movie theater in Edgewater.» is how I’ll tell someone to find this place. Parking is a bit of a pain since it’s very limited =(

I always enjoy myself here. The atmosphere, the mood, the BYOB wine… ahhh it’s as romantic as it gets. This place is such a great place for a date. It’s sexy and dark– perfect, right? I love that this place is BYOB and the menu has a nice assortment of foods to share with your date and your bottle of wine. I love the hummus platter or any of the mediterranean items on the menu. The desserts are also great– a little pricey but worth it. We tried the amaretto ice cream and wow. If you like almonds you should totally get it. Delish. Shout out to Regan for being the best waiter ever! Please give him a raise!!!
