My Mom and Dad who don’t go out much decided to go out for dinner last night. My Mom told me there was a hair in her rice it ruined her appetite, She said nothing she never complained being the shy woman that she is, so I decided to write this review, they don’t accept Visa Master Card either.

Great foods, great services in great ambiance. I really don’t understand the people complain of this restaurant.

Good crazy menu. Chinese, Thai, American. I get a bacon cheeseburger, my wife gets General Tso’s chicken. OK if is eclectic. End your dinner experience with«death by chocolate». A great ice. Ream desert. Hey they have tea, as well as coffee.

I’ve been dining at Baumgarts for about a decade now. They have the best service and food. They are very consistent and the ambience is just perfect.

Lunch delivery through grubhub. Food came on time and order was correct. Got a California roll and Chicken teriyaki lunch box. Not near enough sauce on the chicken teriyaki and came on top of an odd pile of veggies– peppers, cabbage, undercooked unions, and raw bean sprouts– all flavorless because there was no sauce on them. Rice was dry, not the right type of rice for chicken teriyaki. Roll was ok– more avocado than crab but that’s okay with me, maybe not for others. Probably not ordering from here again unless it’s just sushi.

I rarely write poor reviews, and I have also never experienced anything quite like this. Beware, horrible experience, pure profit play driven by ownership, and untruthful. They insisted they were cash or Amex only… then found a way to run my MasterCard when I have them no other choice. Compliments to the chef, but woe to the establishment.

The payment methods at this place is a headache they accept only cash or American Express cards. The food is a hit or miss. I’ve had days where I ordered Sesame Chicken and it was great other days it tasted old and simply microwaved. The steamed dumplings are great and always a great app.

Great view if your sitting closer to window. They have outdoor seating if you like. Food is always well prepared. The dishes was on the sweeter side but everything was very flavorful. Waitress never refilled our drinks or asked if we wanted anything else. She gave us the check and ask if we wanted dessert. ***They Only take American Express Credit Cards***

We had a couple of sushi rolls and they were very good and the Chicken Pad Thai was just okay, I’ve had much better. The prices were reasonable and appropriate for the quality. The place was very quiet for a Friday night so the service and food delivery were timely. It was clean and the staff was friendly and attentive. All important factors to me! It is definitely odd to have tons of Asian food and then they throw in a few American food items. Their menu used to consist of more American diner food options so I don’t know why they bother with just the couple of items. Whatever. The view is great for sure but the fact that it wasn’t busy on a Friday, makes me believe there are much better places in the area.

This place is just… Weird. Mediocre Asian food and traditional diner food on the same menu. If you like your food to come out of a plastic bag and terrible service, this place is for you. I just don’t even know what to say about this place that could possibly be positive. I was hoping it would be a combination of things that shouldn’t go together but just work… Kind of like potato chips and chocolate coating. But this is more like those weird Dove chocolates and soggy half cooked potatoes.(I just gagged) If the food was good Asian food(I think it’s some Americanized version of Chinese) or the sushi wasn’t just frightening, an Asian diner actually sounds pretty fun. Like pick regions from Asia and make a section for each, serving some local and properly cooked dishes. This is not that place. The interior looks like it was decorated by Judy Jetson, before they went into syndication. The service is terrible. The waiters don’t even act like they are actually working there. They just sort of stand around like they are waiting to be called? Someone please buy this place and put in a real diner. Look at the menu at Tops Diner in Newark and steal it. I promise you will make a fortune.(Even that crappy Pancake House down the block has a line around the corner and it’s not even good!) And please don’t call a bad Asian restaurant«Baumgart’s» ever again. It just makes absolutely no sense.

This place is ok — like if you like Chinese food at the diner kind of OK. I started with edamame and my boss got american fare(I think a fish sandwich or salmon). He said his was ok. I got three sushi rolls were beautiful(but huge) and though I can’t remember what was in them, there was a lot going on and somehow none of it was that impressive. I like to eat sashimi and taste the freshness of the fish, and yes, I took a huge gamble by ordering sushi from a place like this. I was curious and yes, I guess curiosity killed the cat because it wasn’t that good but wasn’t what I hadn’t expected. Overall, the service wasn’t exceptional, the area didn’t feel clean though I saw no mess… I don’t have too much good to say about this place other than just skip it. Sorry Baumgart’s, you are cute but the concept of diner/sushi/american food just doesn’t work for me. Everything is sort of average of below. getting lost in the mix. Skip.

Baumgart’s has completely gone down the drain. Like a fool I gave them another chance. My average take out order is $ 40 – 65 dollars… we order simple dishes. rice, noodles, dumplings and a rib appetizers For what I spent I could have ordered the Mongolian beef. LMAO… it’s on the menu for a few dollars more. Who are they kidding??? Mongolian beef, now that’s f****** hilarious. If they actually serve true Mogolian beef… I’ll eat the entire cow and pay double. Anywayl back to my actual order… how do you screw up fried rice, dumplings, cold noodle and boneless ribs. The ribs, they didn’t even bother to cook of the visceral fat. The rice had a petcular metal taste. The dumplings were suppose to be shrimp. We decided that it wasn’t worth the risk. The cold spicy peanut noodles seemed safe. Still hungry but patiently waiting for the delivery guy to pick up the food and give me my money back.

Fresh sushi and variety of Chinese dishes and American standards like burgers and fries. Quick service and solid cocktails. Great spot to grab a meal before or after a movie. Sit outdoors or at the far end of the dining area for the Hudson River NYC view.

Surprisingly the service was pretty good here. The servers seemed to look guilty about serving such mediocre food though. I know microwaves are an essential part of the restaurant business nowadays but rarely have I sat down and paid $ 20 per entrée for food that reminded me of the microwave. The shrimp was rockhard, clearly overcooked. The enochi mushroom stir-fry, which is a dish I imagine could be easily stir-fried, seemed to have been reheated. They had a decent IPA. It made the above defects easier to take in stride but not enough to overlook.

Giving 3 stars on the strength of the fact that the drinks are tasty and I’ve been eating Baumgarts Englewood since a kid. At Edgewater location, I ordered General Tso’s Chicken, a Reuben and the dumpling sampler. Dumplings were tasty. VERY. The Reuben was decent. The GT Chicken; however, was seriously lacking. Quite sweet, but zero spice. They used white(breast) meat and the chunks were hard and dry. Big chunks of red bell pepper, but no red chili peppers. And the rice was dry!!!(Like, cough up some dust, dry). I’ve had better GTC at the neighborhood Chinese takeout with dusty pics on the wall and a shrink-wrapped cash register and telephone. Seriously. The strawberry-ginger cooler and mango mojito(pre-made with no mint and a teaspoon of liquor), however, were pretty delicious.

This place is set up like a diner with neon colors all over. The designs, colors, and set up just pop so well that it fits all types of occasions. Dates, family gatherings, hanging out, quick bite to eat, pretty much it’s a versatile place. The food I ordered was this Honey Walnut shrimp and The Kung Pao chicken. The Shrimp is probably the best I have had in years, cooked to perfection. The Kung pao chicken was good, but the best part of that was that was the huge portion sizes. The Mango mojito was pretty smooth. Definitely recommend checking it out if you are in town.

I just love all the wonderful eateries all around the New York City metro area. One can find any type of cuisine that can possibly exist and I mean anything. Where can you order a milkshake with your sushi? Or a cheeseburger with your pancakes? Welcome to Baumgart’s Café– a quirky little diner-esque joint with four locations in North Jersey. My Mother and I went to Baumgart’s Café at City Place in Edgewater, NJ for one thing– we wanted sushi. Walking into the restaurant, I was immediately comfortable. The atmosphere is so light and airy, normally uncommon for a sushi joint. Then again, this wasn’t your average sushi spot as stated earlier. We decided to first split the Tuna Tower appetizer. Pepper tuna, seared white and baby tuna were piled on top of asparagus and red onion, then topped with a yuzu wasabi sauce. I think we were fighting over the last piece. It was phenomenal. Again, this came out of the same restaurant where you can order a Corned Beef Rueben sandwich.(However, there is a separate kitchen in the middle of the restaurant where the sushi is made, away from the burgers and grilled cheese sandwiches.) We both ordered the Two Roll Lunch Specials. Served in a bento box with miso soup and a garden salad with ginger dressing. My Mother stuck with a tuna theme and enjoyed the Tuna Roll and the Tuna with Avocado Roll. You just can’t go wrong with tuna rolls. I ordered the Shrimp with Avocado Roll and the Salmon Skin Roll. Both were excellent. It was quite a lot of food for a lunch priced at $ 9.50. An excellent bargain for New York City. Now while the sushi was very good, there isn’t an exhaustive list of a variety of rolls. There is no Eel or Soft Shell Crab Rolls. The sushi menu is limited. But then again, how often do you get to enjoy Thai Curry while your dining companions enjoy a Roast Turkey Sandwich or a Shortstack of Pancakes, all at the same table? I am looking forward to my next visit to Baumgart’s Café. 4 ½ out of 5 sprouts.
