I purchased a Groupon for 2 spray tans. I went the first time at the end of April and I had to pay an extra amount to get the«darkest» color option. This NEVER occurred at Planet Sun. I was told to make sure I come back before June for my second tan or my Groupon would expire.(The Groupon ad never stated they had to be used in the same month.) When I returned on May 23rd they told me that my Groupon expired on May 21st and they refused to honor it. I explained I was never given a date and only told to come before June. The girl that was behind the counter said it was listed that a manager had helped me the previous time so there is no way iI wasn’t told a date. So now you’re telling me that«managers» aren’t capable of errors and you’re insulting my intelligence on top of it. So basically I paid over $ 32 for a basic booth spray tan. The funny thing is I was actually going to buy a membership that day since I live up the hill and I liked their late hours, but i was so turned off by their poor service and the way I was treated that I immediately got back in my car and drove to my old salon Planet Sun and purchased a membership there. This establishment is a ripoff and their service sucks plain and simple. Never again.

This review is for the slimming fit wraps. I decided to purchase their Groupon for two fit wraps for $ 49 because I was getting ready to go on vacation and thought the wraps could help me lose some inches. Just a note, the fit wraps aren’t what I thought it was, meaning that they aren’t the type of wraps that wrap on your body and adhere to the skin. You are getting completely naked and getting into a jumpsuit and laying down in what looks like a sleeping bag on a bed and laying there to sweat for an hour to lose your water weight. My first appointment was ok, the girl was friendly and knowledgable about services and the place was very clean and tidy. My next appointment was the following week and I was helped by two different girls. I found that they seemed to be pretty absent minded, as once she led me to the room I told her that I needed her to come strap me in in five minutes once I was ready because I couldn’t remember how to do it. Fifteen minutes passed and I didn’t see her. I had to call the store from the room to ask for help, as I didn’t want to walk out of the room undressed. She finally came and apologized and set me up. Due to the fact that this was my first time getting a fit wrap, I was unaware of the fact that you usually tip the attendant. This is primarily due to the fact that besides leading you into the room, they NEVER check on you. You have to call them if you need any assistance. Don’t get me wrong I’m not saying they have to come in the room every five minutes but someone who is looking for a decent tip should at least check on you before during and after the wrap. As far as the wrap goes, I’d say save your money. I wasn’t expecting to have abs after the wrap but I also feel as though I could’ve achieved the same results through simple cardio. I won’t be returning.

I’ve been coming to this place for a while and never had any problems, they been nice and friendly, so I pull up to the place and trying to park in the front all of the sudden some lady is giving attitude about parking and she is standing cursing because she thinks I am about to hit her car, and by the way I was pretty far away, and come on I am not that dumb to hit her car and ruin mine. Anyway, I am parking and telling myself please dont work at the beach bum, and of course she goes to the tanning salon!!! God why??? Anyway, I go in and the front desk personal was very nice, polite and knowledgeable, spray came out nice! But to beach bum manager,: you should definitely hire friendly people, otherwise you will be losing business.

This place is wayyyyy overpriced, the staff is not friendly and the beds and lamps are old. I bought a $ 200 monthly unlimited pass and didn’t even get that dark. I have used planet sun before I went to this beach bum tanning place and I am totally going back to planet sun. The guy in the front desk at this place had a real attitude ! Never going back.

This place is really nice. It has lots of tanning options and the facility is cool but my experience wasn’t that great. The girl was superficially nice, she greeted me and took me to the room but that’s it. She really didn’t explain the tanning process or offered me any add ons, was singing while«taking care» of me and the music was loud as hell, club loud. I would recommend this place if you are not shy to demand good service.

I been tanning off and on for the last ten years and through out this time I have been to many tanning salons. I seen it all from the good, the bad, and the expensive. Beach bum by far is my favorite! Its inexpensive in comparison to other salons I have gone to; yet it has a very upscale feel. I never have to wait for a machine which is always a plus. My one complaint would be the location there always seems to be traffic on river road which can be a down side, but, besides that 5 stars all the way!

I went in last night to get a basic five tan package that I’ve purchased before at other salons. The girl at the front desk(I’ll refrain from calling her a salesgirl as she failed to make a sale) told me I would just turn red with that basic package and advised me to get a different(more expensive) package. I expected this would happen but I said no thanks, I’m just interested in a basic package. She then proceeded to tell me that that package was only for people with psoriasis or other medical conditions. When I asked why I couldn’t just purchase that basic package she kept just advising me to purchase the other packages. After a few minutes of back and forth, it was clear that she was not allowing me to purchase the basic package. Frustrated and not wanting to give them my business, I left. I totally get wanting to get a customer to make a bigger sale, however do not totally dissuade a customer from wanting to do any business with you at all. This girl was not only rude, she was bad at her job. I advise people to stay away and if you are in Edgewater in need of a tan, hollywood tans is right down the road.

Horrible place to tan!!! Don’t waste your money here! It’s my first time to tan and I was never not given instructions or warning that if you lay a certain way that some parts of your body may not be covered by the light, they call it «pressure points». I came out with a huge part of my body totally different shade from the rest! When I came back to see if they could have it fixed for me, they told me I have to pay for an extra session. Why would I have to if they have done a good job in the first place? The manager didn’t seem to care either and was laughing at my situation. Horrible horrible customer service! Also all the lotions they sell there are overpriced by at least 50%. I hate it, hate it, hate it! Negative stars if I could!!!

Overall terrible experience here. The girl working last night was rude and dishonest. She kept changing the prices on me or wouldn’t give me an exact price at all. She kept trying to get me to commit to the 3 month plan, but I’m not trying to get super tan I just would like a base tan so I’m not as winter pale as I am now. She was annoyed when I told her I’d think about it. Then she tried telling me that I had to buy a lotion packet as well in order to use the coupon deal that was sent to my home, even though it didn’t say that on the flyer because she was trying to get me to spend more money. She also told me that because of my skin type I would have to use the diamond or titanium bed because anything less and I wouldn’t tan, which I know is not true. I’ll be going to tantaztic in Hoboken from now on. They never make me feel like they’re lying to me or that I’m not spending enough money to even be there.

Well unlike Karen I don’t do spray tan so I can’t relate. However my experience with Beach Bumm Tanning has always been great. I dont like to tan a lot but winter time I just hate looking pasty grey :(so just to take the stinge out :) And every time I need to put a little tan on I go to the nearest Beach Bumm. Luckily this one is really close. And I have to admit that time and time again the staff is great, knowledgeable and friendly. And most of the time you get really great package deals but there is a expiration date. So just ask when it expire. The girl that runs the one in Edgewater was really great(Christine) not pushy, pleasant and gave me an extra free tan ! The beds are always top of the line, clean and new. No cracked or worn out beds there ! So like I said for those who tan Beach Bumm is the place, one on route 17 in Paramus is pretty good as well :)

If I could give negative stars I would … and I have never said that before. I left this place full of anger(and not a good kind … the I will not stop till this is over kind), the kind that warrants a well thought out Unilocal review along with many letters and emails to assure that everyone knows how you feel … but I digress. What is it you asked that can boil my blood, a fairly mellow blood at that, well I will tell you. I went in 2 months ago to get a mystic tan. Sadly my Irish skin does not warrant tanning. I purchased 3 mystic tans for $ 59 dollars. I thought not bad I can go three times and its only $ 20 each. I asked the guy«so I just come back when I am ready for another one and it is in the computer?» Response: «Yep». End scene. Enter in today(approx 2 months later) and I am told I don’t have any tans left. The lady at the counter proceeds to tell me that I did have 2 that I didn’t use but they expired after a month. A month? Regardless of the fact that anyone who gets 3 mystic tans a month is crazy, that kind of information might have been necessary to tell me… umm … I don’t know … when I bought it. I ask to speak to the manager … «Sorry she is not in today, but I can leave her a note» … a note? Gee thanks but I am not sure that can convey properly how I feel. This is nothing but a scam. Its worse then the Nigerian emails. At least with those you know when you are being screwed with. I told the incredibly unhelpful attendant that I was leaving and NEVER coming back … I suggest the rest of you take my lead. Then again someone has to answer those Nigerian emails.
