Great food… Love it. Nice people and friendly staff.

Excellent service and even better food. Some of the best Italian I’ve ever had. The chicken was cooked perfectly and so tender it could be cut with my fork. Our server Manuel was great and helped with recommendations that would make it definitely worth a second and third, and who knows how many more trips.

Definitely go with a big appetite. Generous portions and a huge selection of wine. We tried the appetizer with mussels in white sauce and used the extra sauce to dip our bread into. So good we asked for a second basket of bread. We couldn’t even finish our entrees. Service was also great — the owner(I think?) checked in with us on multiple occasions to make sure we were enjoying our meal, which we did!

The mussels with white sauce was amazing. The sauce was flavorful and it wasn’t fishy. The mussels might have been tiny but the sauce was a good dip!

Worst dinner ever! Went for Valentine’s Day & was not happy at all. It started with receiving my 5 small shrimp cocktail with no taste. Being there was only 1 dressing offered for the Caesar salad that had anchovies, I had to pass. 1 salad dressing??? Wow, not good. Then received my 6 small no taste shrimp scampi over nothing. Horrible. Then asked for tea & cheesecake, which was so so. But, had to wait 15 minutes for creamers. By that time my tea was cold. And to boot, had no spoon. This was incredibly disappointing! For $ 50??? I would have been better off at Burger King. Oh and by the way, it ended with paying a very high bill & instead of the old man saying Thank You, he told me, and I quote, «Don’t be a sour puss.». WHAT??? After that meal I wasn’t happy, but is that how you treat your customers??? OMG! Close the doors.

I come here whenever I’m in town. The food is amazing and portions are generous. Some favorites that come to mind. Pounded pork chop: awesome, tender, and very refreshing. If you don’t like red onions stay away. To my taste this is perfect. Pappardelle with short rib Raghu: I dream about this stuff. Perfect texture and deep meaty flavor. Grilled Ribeye: amazing sear and so flavorful and tender. Shrimp La Bella — love the beans and shrimp. There is lots more, never had a bad meal here.

Food was 4 – 4.5 Service was 5 Ambiance 2.5 Food was delicious. We had the Bada Bing shrimp and the pasta bolognese with lamb. Topped it off with a pumpkin cheesecake. Food was really really good. Portions were great. Had enough for two leftovers. Service was prompt and polite. Would definitely come here again.

Best Italian restaurant in Jersey. 1970s décor(est.1971), Sinatra playing, great hosts, amazing old-school bartender, good staff, and excellent chef. I always recommend the pounded porkchop peasant style to first-timers — it’s world class — and I have explored the menu personally and have not been disappointed.

This restaurant is one of the best Italian restaurants in NJ! The restaurant is very traditional and not glitzy in any way, but the staff is very experienced and service oriented and very friendly. The food is outstanding and the chef, Roberto, truly cares about his craft. We go there every time we’re in town!

I love this place, absolutely grandma cooking. I went there on Easter Sunday once, and they had like a planned dinner meal? Appetizer, entrée, dessert and stuff like that. But I fell in love with the food, my other favorite place is Napoli in Edgewater but they closed down on Sundays. So this place is one of my go to Italian restaurant. I tried their seafood salad and my parents liked it but it wasn’t my favorite. And I tried their famous white clam sauce pasta with angel hair and it was delicious. I also had the seafood pasta with angel hair, and I seriously loved it. My mom personally thought it was a little too salty, but I seriously loved it. By the way, their desserts are on point.

Things must have changed since all the 5 star reviews. I went there with family Sunday evening, the waiter did not want to take the appetizer order without the main course. Make the long story short the waiter came out and said that’s his rule!!! Since he has to cook it everything has to be ordered at once. Finally they decided to take our order and I had ordered clams, the clams smelled so bad that I couldn’t even touch it. Never again Roberto’s

What an incredible disappointment. Read previous reviews and was looking forward to large portions, old world charm, great flavors. Saturday night dinner. Called ahead to make sure even though we were coming later, the kitchen would still be open. Got there @ 8:30 pm. Valet parking was nice since parking is scarce on that corner. Inside is warm and definitely décor is old world charm. Unfortunately, old world charm could not save the poor food experience. Started with grilled baby artichoke salad. Appreciate that it was split to be shared, but why they didn’t wash the greens is beyond me. Every bite was full of grit. Overdressed made for soggy greens. On the advice of previous reviews, I ordered the pounded pork chop. Good choice. It was pretty good. Tender, tasty. Topped with tomatoes, basil and way too many sliced red onions that sadly overpowered the flavors. The side of pasta that came was inedible. While the gravy was pretty good, the pasta was a mass of gummy yuck. I picked up the entire mass with my fork. When I declined to have it packed to go, the wait staff snickered. They obviously knew. No self-respect here. My dining companion ordered the chicken parm. Generous portion. Two large pieces and gravy was tasty. The side of sautéed spinach was overcooked to the point of being a slimy green clump of some oily, garlicky vegetation. Usually when I have a bad experience, I’m willing to give a place a second chance if the problems are minor. In this case, I’m terribly discouraged that so many basic things went wrong and that they still served substandard food. Either the chef is ignorant or arrogant to allow such poor quality food to be served. Still looking for decent Italian restaurant in the area. This place is not it.

Their food is delicious and giant portions. My husband and I ordered 2 entrees and an appetizer to share. We were able to feed 8 people. Great bang for your buck and delicious flavors and seafood was so good too.

This old school, grandma’s cooking, been here forever gem is one of the best restaurants in Edgewater. I had the fettuccine Roberto(hold the peas) and it was fantastic. You can’t beat the homemade fettuccine with a delicious creamy sauce with prosciutto and a nice wine flavor. Love the chickpeas they serve with hot bread(in olive oil, herbs, red pepper flakes) and they have a full bar. Moderate prices– $ 17 for a homemade pasta dish can’t be beat. I will def try the pounded pork next time. Valet parking available and good luck with street parking :)

The pounded pork chops of one of my favorite dishes of all-time — ALL-TIME! Anyone who has tried the pork chops and did give a 5-star rating is either a liar, bitter about some totally unrelated reason, or has defective taste buds and should immediately stop reviewing food all together. Side note: I cannot comment on the quality of their pasta because I will never order anything else but the pork chops.

Very impressed and pleased with the entire experience at Roberto’s. Old school, classy service that wasn’t in the least bit over bearing. The hostess served no purpose but hey, everybody’s gotta eat. Apps-I wasn’t thrilled with the Caesar, contrary to other reviewers, I found it to be over dressed. The mozzarella and tom salad was off the charts. The main-the broiled sole and veal parm were both terrific. Great red sauce. Dessert-ifyoudon’tgettheTortoniIwillpunchyou. Chef/owner was friendly and frequently visible. You must be doing something right if you’ve been in business for 43 years. Not many can say that.

ROBERTSIIWAS A SEQUELWORTHSKIPPING! Isn’t it so cliched when a review starts with«I was really hoping this place would be better…»? Well, considering that we brought visiting friends with us here with us, we were actually hoping to be blown away. Unfortunately, that was not meant to be despite all of the glowing reviews that had brought us here in the first place. Pulling up to the restaurant we noticed that there was a Valet attendant. Nice touch considering there was not a lot not any street-side parking in sight. However, upon entering the nearly empty restaurant when we arrived for the 6:00PM seating, they gave us a look like we had 3 heads when we told them that they we did not have a reservation. The host tells us: «In a half hour, this whole place is going to be packed.» Maybe they got confused and accidentally went to Roberto’s I instead. Neither my Linguini with Red Clam Sauce nor my wife’s Penne ala Vodka were a hit. The Red Clam Sauce had far too much red wine and too little tomato sauce while every bite of the Vodka sauce was heavily punctuated with basil that threw the flavor off. Both of these are basic dishes and their dismal failures provided a vote of no confidence in the chef’s abilities. Two hands down winners were the Caesar Salad and the Burrata Salad. Burrata is a creamy Buffalo Mozzarella cheese served over a bed of arugula and roasted red peppers and topped with a balsamic glaze. It was out of this world and my wife and I have since replicated this many times in our own home. The Caesar Salad was made with crisp romaine and lightly tossed with its eponymous dressing. It’s a real shame that their pastas could not be even half as good as those salads. We ended up leaving half of our plates untouched and passed on getting them wrapped to take home. It didn’t help that the host had hyped the place as if it was a sold out Broadway show. We ended up leaving feeling like we had just seen a comedy that had all of its best parts in the trailer. The salad was a good introduction, but the meal was without any climax so this sequel ended on a down note.

Event: Baby Shower The staff was friendly. Atmosphere was very dim. Buffet was great but perhaps because it was served buffet style, it was not as good as it would have been as an individual serving. I did not like the eggplant parm because I had trouble cutting through it. The Caesar salad was beyond delicious. Pastas were great.
