Universal Kempo Karate Schools

My 2 children have been taking Instructor Greenway’s classes now for a year and our entire family has learned so much through his classes. Highly recommend.

This karate school is inside a church in Edgewater and I have to say the first time I set foot inside I thought to myself what are we doing here… it is not in some flashy studio like some karate schools are, but then as soon as I heard Instructor Greenway talk to the kids and saw him in action, I was immediately glad I gave this place a shot. My son has now been attending these classes for 3 months, and already it has made a huge difference in our lives. Instructor Greenway is amazing and my son and I respect him highly. He teaches these kids skills they need while making it enjoyable for them. I love how the kids shake hands both with him and with each other every class, and I love how he gives each child attention and I am amazed by how well he knows each individual student, as well as every parent! I mean this man has to have over 50 kids attending his classes! My son loves these classes and he enjoys being responsible for his karate equipment and getting ready for class each time. He is definitely more disciplined than when he started, and stronger! My son is 6, and just started a new school. Last week when we went to meet the teachers, he marched across the room, introduced himself and shook the teachers hand, everyone was impressed and I know we have these classes to thank!

My two children have been students of Instructor Greenway for the past few years and I can honestly say that he is gifted at what he does. I am an educator myself and I can see the connection he makes with each of his students. Beyond the physical skills he teaches them, there are many lessons they learn on character traits and they show respect to Instructor Greenway because he requires it but also because he has earned their respect through his own dedication and kindness. I highly recommend Universal Kempo Karate as an organization and specifically, Instructor James Greenway.

My 8 year old son has been a student at Universal Kempo Karate for almost 2 years and it has been a wonderful experience. Coach Greenway and Coach Rooen are wonderful with children. They know just how hard to push each child to reach their potential while at the same time making sure the kids have fun. The classes are convenient and affordable and they provide constant opportunities for the students to reach milestones (stripes, belts, tournaments, special classes, guest days). I highly recommend Universal Kempo to students of all ages and abilities!
