EL Rodeo is closed now, but trust me you didn’t want to go there anyway

Excellent food, friendly atmosphere. Price was right! The owner even comes to table to check on you! Great little gem!

Used to have great jalapeño poppers and have now gone to frozen poppers. I used to come here specifically for them. Sad. Although Steve is Hawt!!! He did text the owner right away to share my feedback.

The ceviche and tacos are solid menu items. Dollar taco Tuesday happy hour is a treat. Ask for them ‘with cilantro’ to get an authentic taste. Their homemade salsa picante is a winner. Empanadas, while made there, leave something to be desired. Our waiter was kind and accommodating but needs to learn about tequila — specifically how silver, reposado, and añejo differ.

Actually decided to give it a try after work during the weekday… HUGEMISTAKE! My taco salad was freezing cold and served with minimal cheese. The chicken was placed on top and that was basically it. The place did however have a great happy hour menu… all in all… huge

Showed up for what was advertised as a «free show,» and was charged a $ 5 cover at the door, by two gentlemen who were clearly huge fans of the juice… The staff was unfriendly and inattentive, and the show was halted almost as soon as it began because the band was«too loud.» Clearly the management has never seen or heard of live music before, as this is equivalent to getting upset at an elementary school field trip because there are«too many kids.» I didn’t have any food so I cannot speak for that, but a friend ordered nachos and barely ate any of them. He related to me that they were«not very good.» Trashy, and not customer-oriented. Would not recommend, unless you genuinely like feeling uncomfortable, and enjoy steroid-riddled bouncers, and standoffish management. Avoid at all costs.

Terrible. I asked for a beer, a menu, and some chips. I got a beer. As the night progressed a pattern appeared. The happy hour special was two dollar Miller lights on draft so I ordered a Miller light. He gave me a bottle of Lite and charged me two dollars more. The food was bland but at least it was over priced. The only reason I give it 2 stars is that the place has so much potential.

Food is bland and expensive. I think they make their money by being a tourist trap. Many hotels in the area with little dining spots keep this place in business. Go elsewhere, the only plus is great happy hour prices.

We did takeout at El Rodeo while staying at one of the nearby hotels. I must say we were very pleased! The portion sizes were plentiful and the food was delicious. Between the two of us we had the Chicken Tortilla Soup, Mango _Shrimp Fajitas, Mango _Chicken Quesadillas, and Fried Ice Cream. No complaints; they didn’t even skimp on the Guacamole like most places do. Restaurant prices, but worth it.

I’m not one to bash a place but I was served room temperature soup and lunchroom level food. Maybe not even that good.

We have been to El Rodeo in Edgewood and Towson. I have found the food to be consistently good, the wait staff attentive and the $ 3 margarita can’t be beat! I especially like the fish taco and the Baja fajitas. You will enjoy it too. Our server Megan was great. Could not ask for better service with a smile.

Surprisingly solid Mexican food on the side of the highway in Maryland. Got the stewed chicken tacos. Nothing about it was offensive. In fact, it was ok. The refried beans were pretty delish. It took them a bit long to bring us our food, though.

This place is just terrible all around. I prefer not to spend too much of my time on a place this horrible so I’ll keep it short. I don’t expect great Mexican food in Maryland, but I don’t even know if you could call what they serve food. The burrito I ate was bland and not very big for the money. The salsa was pretty good, the only bright spot. The food was overpriced to boot. The service was atrocious, as it took forever to get the server to take my order or pay me any attention in general. I got a Gin and Tonic and I could tell it was watered down. I actually sent it back, something I never do. I have a decent amount of restaurant experience and I could tell the poor condition of this place was a reflection of the management/ownership.

I ate here while on business. The service is fantastic and very friendly and welcoming. The food service is astonishingly quick — I perhaps had waited no more than 5 – 10 minutes between my order and the time the food arrived. I had the chile verde, which was very tasty. The beer is served nice and cold, and you never need to ask for a refill. The waitstaff are stellar. I especially want to note the professionalism and kindness of Emily, who assisted my party with a member who had too much to drink. She took time away from her work to make sure he was ok and that we could assist him back to the hotel room. I was very impressed with her and hope that management will take positive notice of her actions to assist a customer. I would definitely come back here if we ever have further work in the area.

A mexican restaurant connected to a best western opened by Neel who used to own Neel’s Kabob. Décor is a bit gaudy, with very stereotypical mexican elements and bright colors. Food is overpriced & not very authentic. I had the chicken enchilladas and it was very generic. The salsa that came with some chips tasted like something out of a can. The service was great though and very attentive. Overall I probably won’t be back.

We had a great dinner tonight. I have to say that we were very pleased. Not quite sure why glenn thinks the décor is off, but I think he is mistaken. As a frequent traveler to San Antonio(check my reviews), the décor of El Rodeo has a similar quality and theme as the Mexican restaurants I visited there. For starters, my wife was warned by the waitress not to order the Champagne Sangrias but suggested that she try the White Peach Sangria instead. My wife was quite pleased with her drink. I ordered their Clasic Margaritas. My first one was a bit on the weak side, and to prove the point I asked my wife to taste it(she hates tequila) and said it tasted like lime. My second on the other hand had a nice kick and when I asked my wife to taste that one, she made a nasty face. She and I both noticed a difference in the two. Chips and salsa was rapidly made available and refilled prior to our main course arriving to our table. My wife ordered«Queso Chicken» served with cilantro rice and grilled veggies. Our first thought when the dish arrived was this didn’t look Mexican or Tex-Mex, but it was a very attractive dish(see photos). The creamy queso cheese sauce was very good, rich and creamy and quite yummy. The cilantro rice was delish with a nice cilantro flavor and well seasoned. The grilled veggies took us by surprise as they looked like a side from a non-ethnic restaurant. The veggies consisted of gilled summer squash, brocolli, and carrots, well seasoned and very delish!!! My order looked authentic Mexican/Tex-Mex and was absolutely yummy! I ordered the«Ranchiladas», which was 3 steak enchiladas, refried beans with some cheese, and spanish rice. The steak enchiladas had a lovely Ranchero sauce. The black beans were well seasoned but didn’t have enough cheese on top. The spanish rice was nicely seasoned and cooked perfectly. They did forget the sour cream, but when I mentioned it, they brought it right out pronto. Cons: The pico de gallo was very weak and quite disapointing. Not enough cilantro, lime, and salt, all you could taste was the tomato and onion. All in all, I/we both really liked El Rodeo, and we plan on coming back. I love a good margarita and plan on coming during happy hours to take advantage of their drink special.

First impressions were not good. There was a private party taking the entire dining area so I had to sit in the bar at a high table and a high chair. Now I am really short, so hiking my butt up into that chair was a challenge! It was also really really LOUD — the music. Then I sat there while servers whizzed past me without stopping for 15 minutes. Yes, I timed it. The tables all around me turned and the new people had already been served. Finally asked someone if they would take my order and she said she would send someone. Finally got a mango margarita which was sour. I will say though, for Yankees, they do know how to fix a good plate of nachos! I had bean and cheese nachos — lots of good melty cheese and they didn’t stint on the jalapenos either. Then I very obviously pushed my plate and empty glass to the center of the table and waited… someone(not my server) came up and asked if the food was good. I said yes, and he left. I finally snagged my server and asked for the check, paid and got out of there. Even though it is very close to my hotel, I won’t be back anytime soon.
