Literally sitting at the restaurant as I write this… Only one other couple in here other than my husband and I. After serving our food(which took forever), the waiter never came back to check on us. 30 minutes passes by and he finally comes back to ask if our food was okay. Uh yeah… We’ve finished eating like 20 minutes ago. We ask for to go boxes. 15 minutes later… Still no boxes. With no one else in the restaurant, I’d expect prompt and speedy service. Literally have been here for over an hour when we were only expecting to be here maybe 45 minutes. Will not be coming back. Food was mediocre. Service was the worst. Oh not to mention… When we walked in to be seated, a regular customer at the bar had to go knock on kitchen door to get anyone’s attention. Don’t come here. It looks like an old Chinese restaurant. Update! Finally got our box. Had to ask for the check.(Wouldn’t you think if we’d asked for a box, we’d be ready for the check?) Anyway, a different server brought our check. Never came back. After 5 minutes we went to the front. Found our original server standing behind the bar on his phone. Clearly could care less about serving us or our experience. I’m usually an «over-tipper» however I did not leave a tip. I suggest if you want decent Mexican food. Go make it yourself.

I couldn’t decide between 3 or 4 stars, so lets look on the bright side and go with 4. Beginning with the positive: the pupusas and steak tacos were the bomb! They arent the standard chain tacos –cruncy shell, sloppy joe meat mixture, topped with a heaping handful of lettuce and junk. No sir. These were what you get at an authentic mexican food truck or something. Steak was perfect, lots of cilantro and limes to squeeze over the top. Get the pupusas! So YES, definitely come here for the food. Now onto the negative: this was a, er, strange experience. The music was very quiet, the gentleman who greeted us was nice, but VERY loud. The seating reminded me of a chinese restaurant. Took a long time to be greeted, seated, and served. And boy it was COLD! Simple fixes guys, turn up the music, tone down the voice decibel just a notch, crank up the thermostat, and get a bit more help to speed up service. So to you folks up in Abingdon, definitely trt this food. Maybe call in a pickup order til things are straightened out a bit.

We sat down and ordered food. After ordering we realized their heater wasn’t working. Their salsa had not taste. We were the only one sitting in the restaurant. Unclean place.

Will never return, would never recommend, would rather eat taco bell any day of the week. Was told there queso comes in a can from the staff… terrible if you order the steak burrito you might as well just order a rice and bean burrito. Over all I would rate a 1 just because the staff seemed to try.

Hubs and I are always on a the prowl for a good lunch spot to meet and decided to meet here. We’d had food at their old location and liked it, so I expected the food to at least be delicious and authentic. Which it was… mostly. The whole experience was so «Meh» though I can’t justify more than two stars. I kept my expectations real low and still Tacos Tijuana managed to fail miserably. We arrived at the restaurant at 12:15 on a Monday. There were 3 other tables of diners. We waited at the host table for a near 5 minutes before we were acknowledged and seated. We were seated for quite some time before we were brought ice cold chips and salsa. Sorry if I prefer my chips fresh and hot — I still ate them even though they were cold and only so so. The salsa was nice — 3.5 out of 5 stars. A bit of a kick to it. It seemed like an eternity before we received our drinks. Our server could not have made it more obvious that he didn’t care about us as customers, or even people for that matter. Husband ordered the quesadilla ranchero and I ordered a chile rellano, a pork belly taco, and a beef tongue taco. 2 of the 3 other tables of diners paid and left, while the third table was done but sat there eating ice waiting for his check. Our server/host never reappeared to offer more chips or drink refills. We had alot of lonely time to look around. The walls are a horrific green. The table and chairs were ugly and dated. The temperature is kept in the 60s I think. The place was deserted, and awkwardly silent. I felt like my husband and I were alone in the cafeteria of a mental institution or a shut down Ponderosa. Our food took FOREVER. Had a piping hot plate of deliciousness arrived, I would have written off the wait but when it finally arrived it was cold. Not warm. Actually cold. The chili rellano had cooled to room temperature at the ice cold sour cream they dressed it with had warmed to cold. My tacos had also cooled. My husband received a cold quesadilla rellano — ate it anyway despite it not being what he ordered. The food tasted delicious — too bad it sucked. The price was right but the awkward, not good service we received made it a very unenjoyable experience that we really won’t be in any hurry to repeat for awhile. Get it while you can cause this place probably won’t be around very long!

First time here and I’m surprised that it was empty on a Friday night. For a party of 3, we ordered, plantains for appetizers, Tijuana combination with 2 tacos, rice & beans and a tamale, Steak Torta and a side of fish tacos. I would have to say that their food is excellent and very comparable to what I’m used to in Los Angeles. Great food, great service! This place needs a pick me up. Maybe some salsa dancing on the weekends? Highly recommended!

The food was excellent. I had the trios tacos… 2 beef tongue and 1 chorizo. The tongue was tender and tasty and the chorizo was spicy and delicious. Sometimes they will give you cactus as a side which is also very good. Try the plantains for a sweet treat. Unfortunately the former tenant had a rough crowd so it seems like it’s taking a while to catch on. I hope it does.

Place was empty except one couple, had to wait at the front desk for a few min before I was even greeted. No music or anything. It had the ambiance of a morgue. I looked at the bar and it was empty, no beer or liquor. I asked for a beer anyways and was confirmed they have no alcohol. This might be the first Mexican restaurant that I have been to that didn’t have Margaritas as an option. My waiter barley could communicate with me.(Language barrier) Chips and salsa was bad, bad, bad. Half the chips were stale and even found a chip that looked like it had salsa dripped on it. Perhaps from a day or two before. So it was soft and spongy. I ordered a quesadilla with chicken, the tortilla was soft, not crispy at all, barely any chicken in it. Refried beans looked pretty much like plain chili beans. Rice was comparable to the stuff you get at the grocery store in the minute isle. Honestly I’m nervous about getting sick. Also, they don’t take AmEx. I would not send someone I don’t like to this place.

More like tacos terrible. Burnt steak couldn’t even chew it would have been good had they not over cooked it ! Wasn’t many people in here and I see why

Tried this place after reading lots of good reviews and was very disappointed. Food has little to no flavor, and the chicken appeared to be from a can and not at all seasoned. The place also didn’t seem super clean. Won’t go back.

I really wish this place was better since there’s only a few Mexican restaurants in the area. I got the California burrito it came with beans and rice by the time I received my food the rice was cold. The chips were stale. The salsa had no flavor. The server was a bit rude. And the horchata was gross.

It’s up on the hill, facing the motel 6. I can’t remark on service since I took it to go but the food was delicious. I tried the three taco platter with chorizo, carnitas, and fish. They had a wonderful fresh flavor, and the meat was rich and delicious. I don’t know how they made the rice but it was definitely the best I’ve ever had. I hope they continue to get customers because it was empty on a Friday night when it should’ve been bustling. That’s always the risk of moving, but the food is awesome and deserves to be eaten by many. Their menu was huge so I’m eager to try some other things on there.

This place is great! Good food, friendly staff and warm environment. Mexican and Salvadorian Food. Try the Pupusas! Delicious. The owner gave us a tour and a couple of free Tamales to try. He was very nice. They’ve only been here about 3 months so they are still in the process of making upgrades. Highly recommend!

I loved this place when it was on Pulaski Hwy, but when they upgraded and moved to a bigger place it’s just not the same(the food just not made with the same love, went from a 10 to a 5)… The worst part about it was the service, nothings worse than a server with a attitude …

Nothing. Silence. The place was so quiet and empty when we came. The server sat us and disappeared. After a while he returned with chips and salsa which was tasty. We finished the chips fast and there are no refills. I had 3 tripe tacos and a horchata which came in a huge cup. The tacos were good, same as their last location. Tripe was nicely cooked. While waiting and eating sitting there was awkward, the room was too quiet, they needed some music or tv… the napkin was also wrapped with scotch tape which was a bit off. Food was okay but the drinks were a bit expensive… probably will be going back anyways since three is always the need for good tacos.

I was unimpressed. I ordered supremes nachos with chicken. My plate was 75% beans. There was barely any cheese, barely any chicken and a drizzle of sour cream. All I tasted was beans. It would have been nice to have been able to ask for some more sour cream or salsa but our server never came around. I eventually had to find him to ask for my bill! Then the bill came. The menu listed 3 tacos for just under $ 6. They were $ 10 on the bill. I’d have liked to address this with our server but he didn’t speak English and he was nowhere to be seen, once again. I would NOT return.

As someone from the southwest us I’d say I know pretty good Mexican food. My wife is from southern Mexico, and she definitely knows good Mexican food. The food here is great! I haven’t had better in this state, unless she is cooking. Yes, the new location is still lacking a little ambiance, but they are trying. If you go to a Mexican restaurant and very little to no Spanish is spoken, in my opinion, your not at a real Mexican restaurant. So expect there to be some language barriers here, but here’s a tip for you on how to work around that… Don’t be an ass and you’d be surprised how far that will take you. Oh and no alcohol yet, but they are working on getting the licence, complain to Harford county, not the restaurant. Anyways, I’ve had a little bit if everything on the menu I love the tacos, the tamales, the steak, heck everything here is great. I’ve been to oyamel on D.C. and I’d rather go here any day of the week, and twice on Sunday than go to oyamel. So in short, go here yourself and taste real Mexican food, rather than that other stuff you have been putting down your throat.
