Both times I’ve been here, it has been for coffee so I can’t comment on the food. But even after round two, this place isn’t my favorite. I enjoy supporting places that are conscious of reducing waste and this place is not. Getting to-go items is a different story but to eat/drink here and not have ceramic mugs and from looking around, everyone is eating off of paper plates. There aren’t any outlets so if you’re coming here to do work, make sure you are fully charged ahead of time. I also had to ask for the wifi password, which certainly isn’t a deal-breaker but it would be nice if maybe it was posted so I didn’t feel like I was bothering anyone. Also, both times I’ve been here, the person at the cashier wasn’t the most friendly. Normally I’m not too critical of service but with no one else in line, I found it a bit bizarre that once someone came to the counter, I felt like I was being an annoyance by being there. The kitchen staff though seems very friendly, and it was someone who was taking out the trash that ultimately told me the wifi password and was very polite and actually thanked me for coming!

I was not sure if I should give this place 4 or 5 stars. I must start by saying that the coffee is really good, and gets 5 stars easy. The pastry that I tried — oatmeal raisin cookie and lemon Danish — get 5 stars too, as does the service and atmosphere. The food I tried — breakfast burrito and 2 types of omelet — where pretty good, but get only 4 stars. Bottom line — next time I’m in the area, I will defiantly come back for more.

Possibly the best plain old coffee that I have ever had. Pretty standard breakfast items just like you would make at home(which is why they only got 4 stars)… Which is what I am happy to have as a frequent business traveller. Reasonable prices if not a little on the cheap side when compared to their over priced, and over-crowded competitors. They have some really special people working here too(and I mean this in a good way!). They are fantastic and will brighten your morning. So ditch the overpriced and over-cooked hotel buffet and venture out! They are also connected to a business center so you can get some serious work done there as well.

It’s a cool place, but I’ve tried it twice and it falls soooo far short that I won’t be back. The breakfast burrito is anemic in both size and flavor. The chili is beefy but tastes right out of the can. The turkey BLT wrap does not shine in any respect. Local grocery stores have better and restaurants have much better. The food better improve before the word gets out or this place will be short lived.

Walked in a few minutes after closing, owner met me, I correctly choose to go take out, he had no problem taking my order and rolling with it. I appreciated that. I had the Chicken Caesar salad. Excellent, could use a little more dressing, but it had lots of real chicken(I know, strange). Ruben, very well done, good stuff. Not over priced and quality and quantity were great. Nice little place. To the owner, thanks.

I’m a breakfast food fiend and was in search of a great, quick breakfast spot in the southwest metro… pretty sure I’ve found one such place! I hadn’t heard of Makers before(thanks Unilocal!) and made my way there on a sunny Saturday morning. It’s slightly off the beaten path, located at the end of a office-type building. The interior includes a bright space, unique light fixtures and plenty of artsy items on the walls — also attached is a cool meeting space(personal or professional), that includes comfy desk/lounging space and a more serious-working space(with tech for presentations). Like a trendy place should be, then menu is digital and I quickly eye-balled the breakfast burrito(which I ordered), plus cinnamon roll french toast and the Makers egg skillet(hey…we were both really hungry!). It’s an order, pay, take a number and food will find its way to your table type deal — only took 10 minutes for our breakfast delights to arrive(on biodegradable plates!). *Burrito — SOLID. Got turkey bacon, wicked tasty and fresh. *French Toast — HUGE portion(3 pieces), plenty of whipped cream and fresh fruit. *Skillet — least favorite, but tasty(fresh veg) and decent portion. Quick, fresh, tasty and cheap breakfast in a very comfy, welcoming space. It’s also a great spot for working on your laptop, reading up on a favorite book or catching up with friends(you can have a conversation and hear each other!).

Stopped in for breakfast as I was hungry and driving around looking for a place. Décor is way too hipster for my taste, door was average and nothing spectacular and my coffee was steamed to lukewarm. Overall I was disappointed.

I’m staying at the DoubleTree down the street and almost paid $ 12.95 for their pitiful buffet. I decided to see what else was near by, Makers is less than 2 minutes away. The atmosphere was perfectly calm, the service was quick and cheery, and the food was wonderful! I had a breakfast sandwich and medium latte for $ 12 with tip. The best part was that egg whites automatically come with spinach! I recommend skipping the hotel breakfast and checking out the gem!

Great Atmosphere and Food We loved the food and welcome we received from Paul and the staff. Food portions aren’t large, but just right for filling you up and getting you to the next level. Great coffee as well!

Yuppie coffee house with a limited food menu. We had breakfast burritos. Small portions but on the healthy side. Typical coffee house music. Restaurant is attached to an Internet work room.

This place has become my favorite lunch spot in the area! It’s fast-casual, kind of like Panera, but with local flavor and character. It feels like it shouldn’t be in the ‘suburbs’ but I’m so glad it’s close to my work! The coffee is amazing and the lunches are always good as well. Can’t wait to come here this winter for their soup/chili bar lunch special!

Not only was the customer service amazing but the employees were some of the greatest people I’ve met. Very friendly and personable. The food was great! You just can’t go wrong with local handmade food. I had the breakfast burrito and was pretty blown away by the slightly sweet spice that was used. I will be back for sure!

After trying the Tatter Tots at the Taste of Edina, we had to stop by(and did so the next day). Not only was the staff beyond helpful, excellent, knowledgeable and excited, but they helped us understand this new concept and answered all questions like it was the first time they heard them(which I’m sure it wasn’t). After tasting the chicken caesar wrap, I now will be headed here instead of places like Panara. Was it $ 1 – 2 more, yes, but when you get quality food I don’t mind it… I don’t think I’m going broke on $ 1 – 2 more on a sandwich. It was light enough where I wasn’t overwhelmed with food but also filling enough where I didn’t feel like I needed more. The Tot bar — AMAZING idea and I can’t believe I didn’t think of this 10 years ago. You HAVE to try it — where all the toppings are self serve. Not only were these made fresh, but the toppings are all real(bacon, home made sauces, REAL cheese — not that nacho crap). Highly suggested to splurge and get yourself some. With beer and wine on tap, as well as other beverages, Makers Café is the all around package. The lady sitting next to me, who happened to be my wife, attempted to explain what the«work café» was next door — now hipsters have a place to go besides coffee shops to work on their screenplays/book ideas. Also, it seems like a pretty legit place to get work done. I will be back.

Atmosphere and concept were both super cute. However… Food was average and it is a bit pricey for what you get. You could go to like Panera and get similar sandwiches and wraps that taste a little bit better for around the same price.

On my first visit, I ordered a Greek salad and was asked if I preferred ranch or thousand island dressing on that. When I inquired if they had — you know, Greek dressing — the barista checked with her manager and found that that was indeed available. The resulting«Greek» salad was indeed doused in the Greek dressing, but was otherwise unrecognizable as such. There were a few pieces of feta, but no Kalamata olives, no red onions, no cucumber, no tomatoes, no pepperoncini. It was essentially lettuce with dressing. This is an extreme nitpick on one order of one menu item, but it’s been a good metaphor for the whole café. Overall, I like the concept of this café, but it’s been poorly executed so far. Even getting simple black coffee takes at least five minutes, despite the apparent lack of other customers. Other than the aforementioned salad, there is only one vegetarian lunch item on the menu(avocado/white bean wrap), and it’s OK, but certainly not worth the $ 8 it costs. I continue to go here since it adjoins Café Inc, but I certainly wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here. I’m hopeful that they’ll get things together after they’re in business a while longer.

Best of both worlds! Great coffee. No really. Great coffee! And the food. Very tasty. $ 5 soup/chili bar with all the toppings! Yes, even Fritos. I keep coming back just for the chili… And tots. Try the caramel roll and have them warm it up a bit. Even the pickiest person will like it. And if you like coffee and ice cream, give the affogato a try for dessert. They bake all their pastries in house. This place has everything? I haven’t been here for breakfast yet but lunch is delicious. All top ingredients. They have fresh squeezed orange juice, wraps, salads, grilled and cold sandwiches, pastries, beer, wine, great tunes, clean facilities, the kiddos love the Mac n cheese. Their smoothies are Greek-yogurt-based, all fresh fruit added, pretty darn tasty AND healthy! This place is quickly becoming my go-to place.

UM — Why aren’t there more cafes like this around?! First off, they serve local beer and wine(both on tap!), they have fresh-squeezed juices, sandwiches, pizzas made from scratch, quiche, breakfast foods, make-your-own salads, a soup bar, coffee, made-from-scratch sodas(the marionberry-basil was AMAAAZING), desserts, wraps… need I go on? Their mantra is this: «We celebrate the ‘Maker’ in all of us with an assortment of delicious handcrafted local food, freshly roasted coffees, and a selection of craft beer and keg wines — as well as handmade artisan crafts and goods» Oh — did I mention they have a tiny shop of locally-made goods too? YEAH — SHOPANDEAT. Did I forget to mention a TATOR-TOT-BAR? Where else in the TC can you find that?! I’m pretty sure they give away FREE milk and cookies at some point during the week too.
