Tried this place for the first time after it changed from Noodlicious to Edison Noodle House. There are more varieties on the menu than it has when it was Noodlicious but more isn’t always better… Everything we ordered, noodles, beef sandwiches, scallion pancake are all okay but nothing was great. We also ordered the soup dumpling; it is not horrible but there aren’t much soup inside — there are definitely better ones around Edison area. The portion size are very generous for the noodle. I can eat a lot of noodle but I am more than stuffed after one bowl. Overall, this place is okay if you want a relatively cheap and filling meal. I wanted to like this place more but the quality of food is just a bit lacking.

When I think of Asian food establishments on Route 27(Wonder Seafood, China Bowl, Noodle’s Time, Coco, Hmart, Edison Dumpling House) this place stands out as one of the better ones. The pork fried noodles, shanghai fried rice cake, satay beef noodle, soup dumplings, fried rice, and zha jiang mien are some of the items I’ve enjoyed from here. The noodle with shredded pork and pickle green is too bland for me. You get 5% off if you pay with cash. Something I was only made aware of when I brought my mom on my last visit. Go figure!

We always liked the food at this place but service is unbelievably poor at times. Place is not even full but wait times are ridiculous. This place could be so much better.

This inconspicuous hole-in-the-wall at the intersection of Prospect St. and Route 27(near Sam Ash) is easy to miss, especially since parking(4 spaces to the side of the building) is both extremely limited and inconvenient for a restaurant. Although dated, the interior of the restaurant is fairly clean and cozy, with 5 – 7 tables plus additional counter seating and a single unisex bathroom behind the curtains leading to the kitchen. Free wi-fi is available using login posted by entrance. Upon first glance at the bilingual menu, you should realize that the target clientele is not the typical American«General Tso’s Chicken/California Roll» crowd, but rather ex-pats, immigrants, and international students from East Asia, particularly Mainland China and Taiwan. To that end, Edison Noodle House has branded itself as a purveyor of «authentic Taiwanese beef noodles» and various other noodle, rice, and side dishes. I am told that during the school year the tables are often packed with Rutgers grad students. I’m not sure from where the proprietor hails, but as someone who has been to Taiwan fairly recently and subsisted on Taiwanese food for almost a year, I was plainly disappointed by the taste of the 滷肉麵, the portion, the value, and the«authenticity». The noodles were unremarkable, and the braised beef tasted bland, almost microwaved – with none of the umami or juicy, browned texture of the 滷肉(which is a basic staple of street vendor food) I had when I was in Taiwan. Service, on the other hand, was wonderfully friendly and efficient.

What a gem! I initially came here because I was just across the street at a different restaurant and I left due to horrific customer service… As soon I stepped inside Edison Noodle I was greeted with a warm smile. The nice waitress gave us a seat and even helped me get connected to the wifi She explained the entrees that I was interested in and the difference this plate and another … Long story short, My food was flavorful, and delicious! I DEFINITELY will be returning to try something new

Amazing food and good price. Service wasn’t so great but that can be overlooked. — Spicy beef noodle soup: Broth was flavorful and unique. Beef was moist and falls apart. — Stir fry Taiwanese noodles: Good flavor and stir fried very well.

I was driving by and I saw the restaurant was opened. Yippee! Hmmmmmm, should have kept on driving. This was once a wonderful restaurant called Noodlelicious. It is now renamed Edison Noodle House. Different cooks. Note: I didn’t write chefs. Where to begin. Well, one the good note, it’s still cheap. On the bad side, I won’t be back to sample anything. The cooks are different and the food isn’t in the same caliber as its predecessor. We ordered pork soup dumplings(the dumplings had no soup in it), beef sandwich(wasn’t even juicy), and the Shanghai fried rice cakes(no flavor and barely any vegetables). Ok, to add another nail into the coffin, I had to keep flagging the waitress down for tea. She would then have the tea in her hand but pour for other tables before she’d get to our table. Oh for goodness sakes. I’m out of here. You will not be getting anymore of my $.

Positives: Beef noodle soup was good. Large bowl with lots of noodles and good portions of meat. Negatives: I have family that sells these steamed soup dumplings frozen and bagged. These are literally the same thing. I’m willing to bet top dollar it’s the same exact frozen bagged ones I used to have in my freezer. The egg pancake was not very good. The egg was burned and the dough wasn’t crispy enough for my personal taste. The prices are cheap and it’s a fun once-in-awhile place if it’s cold enough.

After driving by this place so many times, we had to give this place a try. We had ordered the tofu with preserved eggs. It had oyster sauce and scallions drizzled on top of it. It was delicious. I love how fresh and soft the tofu was. The preserved eggs tasted great too. Nice and sulfury! It’s an acquired taste! We had also ordered Noodles with Minced Pork in Soy Bean Paste and liked it. Another dish we ordered was Noodles with Shredded Pork and Pickle Green and loved it. It was a simple dish and tasted delicious. Finally, we ordered the Pan Fried Leek Dumplings. It was pretty good as well. I would’ve given them 4 stars but they neglected to give us 10% off if we paid in cash. They had a sign by the front but didn’t honor it. I felt they just tossed the bill over and ran off. I didn’t feel like asking for it.

And a little place in a little house. They don’t speak a lick of English, the place is a little dirty, but the noodles are really really good! The scallion pancakes were especially superb. It would get four or five stars, except for the dinginess atmospherically. Will probably go back l, though. The prices were excellent really cheap,

My sister and her family come here often and rave about the noodles here. It was my first time. There really isn’t much Taiwanese cuisine where I live so this was a real treat. The beef noodle soup was delicious. I also really enjoyed their Taiwanese style side dishes. I would definitely come back here again next time I’m in New Jersey!

A small family-owned type of place. We used to go when it first opened under different management, when the service was fast and the soup tastey. Went there today for lunch. It was about almost 2:00pm. There was 1 server, who didn’t seem so enthusiastic about serving us. Busied herself with clearing off a table(we were the only other couple eating) and we had to ask to order. Ordered traditional taiwanese beef noodle soups, which came rather quickly. The bowl was very large, with a generous amount of noodles(i thought excessive) and soup. Decent amount of soft beef. The soup was not as flavorful as we expected, rather bland. I couldn’t finish my dish and left about 3 cups of noodles in the bowl, i wasn’t at all tempted to bring it home. Won’t be returning…

Pretty good place for Taiwanese and Chinese style noodles and shanghai soup dumplings. Good price. I’ve been here 3x already. The atmosphere is kinda bland but who cares. My one complaint was every time someone opened the door you felt the wind from outside and it was freezing. Maybe install one of those exotic looking portable wall things to block the wind. The beef noodle soup is a bit on the bland side, though not too greasy. You are supposed to add hot sauce and pickled mustard greens(swan tsai) to make it more tasty though, which I forgot to do. The Taiwanese fried noodles dish was quite food — crunchy bits of egg and seafood highlighted the taste. The zha jiang mien was good — with fresh tasting meat, cucumber and bean curd. They have some interesting things on the menu I’d like to try next time such as spicy beef stomach and tripe.

I have gone to this place a few times in the past year whenever I need a beef noodle fix. Overall this place is great for a few of their items. The beef noodle dish is in my opinion their best dish. They already have a limited menu so make sure you know that coming in. I wish they would have more but if you are going to only do one thing, you have to do that really well in the business world. They do accomplish that task with their Taiwanese beef noodle dish. It is a great little find in the area but there’s a lot of competition in the area, so I hope they can stay alive amongst the competition.

I really loved Noodlelicious, the restaurant that occupied this space before Edison Noodle House. I tried out Edison Noodle House hoping that it would be as good as Noodlelicious and after my first visit I thought it was decent, so a few weeks later I decided to go there again. I won’t go back. I don’t expect 5 star service in Chinese restaurants: but this place is exceptionally bad. As I tried to get the attention of someone who worked here to solve the issues I had both waitresses were sitting down on their phones. Not once did one of them stop by to check on my table. The food was fine. But the first issue was that there was a fly in my mother’s tea. A dead fly floating in her tea. As I said above I tried numerous times to get the attention of one of the waitresses but they were too busy playing on their cell phones. I had to yell out across the restaurant to get someone’s attention. Then at the end of our meal it took forever to get boxes to take home and our check. Again playing with the cell phones. I won’t be back. The foods not good enough to have to deal with horrible service and the dead fly tea was the kicker. I’ll stick to Phở An Dao if I need some noodle soup– and they don’t serve fly tea either.

I wanted to like this place but I simply could not. Service was very nice. Décor looks like a hole in the wall but why bother about service and décor when 98.88% of y’all come here simply for the so called wonderful and authentic Taiwanese food, especially the beef noodle soup? First the positive(s). They use the beef shanks with the tendon in the center. The tendon would give you a wonderful texture if cooked slowly to tender.(Slow and Low is the way to Go) However… One should expect the beef to be cooked to tender by 12:00 pm. Both mine and my dad’s were chewy. Broth was not rich but we sensed no MSG after a few hours passed. Wife ordered the stir fried rice cakes and they were nicely done. One note about the steamed pork buns. They are frozen. We wanted to order but we eventually«let it go». Though I appreciate the server’s honesty. I’d be happy to come back but for now the«Happy» place is somewhere else nearby.

Gotta say the noodles were pretty good. Even if the other reviews did say it wasn’t as good. After I tried it, It wasn’t as bad as I thought. Even though it wasn’t fast coming up but I understand since there is significant shortage in waiter and plus it was in the beginning when they just opened it. Now they seem to have it under control and the food is out pretty fast. I have to speak from heart I saw the people in the kitchen they really do seem busy and I say that from experience. It’s been a while since they open so everything seem to be in stock of the cold dish. P. s. for other who thinks food gets out slow. Go to the restaurant on a week day not on weekends since it gets way too crowded during lunch time. Not a good time to go.

I was excited to see another Taiwanese eatery open at the site of Noodlelicous that’s open 7 days a week, and doesn’t close a 2hour break everyday. Had high hopes for their beef noodle soup to be just as good. Edison Noodle House failed to deliver. The menu is marginally expanded to include fried rice and stirfried noodle/rice cake dishes, and some«dim sum» items, but everything was pretty much average, if not below average. We all ordered hot tea, but it was not hot, nor did it taste like tea. Below are the food items we ordered: — Xiao Long Bao(soup buns) — two of our buns were broken, and the juices were leaking out into the steamer before we even touched it… didn’t taste like homemade though — Scallion Pancake — too thin, too crispy, and bland, also didn’t taste fresh. Didn’t come with any dipping sauce either, so we got some soy sauce — Beef Noodle Soup — noodles were thin, meat was chewy and not tender — Taiwanese Stirfried Rice Noodles(mi fen) — looked more like clear vermicelli than rice noodles, bland — Beef Fried Rice — typical fried rice dish, lacking in flavor as well General theme we noticed was the food did not come out hot, everything was pretty much luke warm. Items were slightly over-priced for the quantity and quality, we were disappointed. Side note: they have a 10% off coupon for $ 20+ if you pay with cash; the coupons are in the free Chinese magazines/newspapers in front of the asian markets
